It’s as if Darren Aronofsky filmed your very bear worst nightmare, assuming you had anything to do with drugs or drug addicts. If ever a viewer wondered about the interior status of being of drug addiction, this is the movie for you. Aronofsky faded Hubert Selby Jr.’s book and screenplay as his source material and the source material is sparkling.

I fancy movies which recognize surreal states. This must arrive in fragment from my fascination with surrealist art. Aronofsky’s film probably owes more to the slack Salvador Dali than to any other film director. I’m also fascinated by movies which disappear as if you were viewing them in a dream position. We do exercise a large deal of our lives in a dream place and ogle life from an entirely different perspective in REM time. Aronofsky seems to understand this very well. Aronofsky and Selby, in intended irony, load their characters with dreams of their maintain which are destined to remain unfilled in immense section because of their drug addictions.

Ellen Burstyn plays the easiest addict to understand and she does her usual masterful job. She wants to lose weight so takes diet pills (urge) to do so. Her dream is to be on tv which is what spurs her to the urge. Her son Harry, his girlfriend Marion, and his best friend Tyrone exercise the outright illegal street drugs and dream of becoming substantial drug dealers instead of coarse level pushers. On the plan to drug fortune, they themselves become addicted.

Jared Leto as the son Harry Goldfarb does a first rate acting job. Frankly, prior to this role, I didn’t mediate he had any acting talent. There is a growing predicament with his injection infected arm which will remain visually with you long after the movie is over. Jennifer Connelly as Marion Silver is every bit as improbable as Burstyn in this film. She is Harry’s girlfriend, soon to enter a life of degradation due to the nightmarish descent into drugs.

Because this film is so visual, it is an ideal one for seeing in the best possible format available. Blue-ray was invented for unbiased this kind of film.

This film is rated #65 on the IMDb list of the best films ever. I’ll confine my comments to the quality of the disc itself. I’m fairly picky, and I gather both the audio and video quality to be quite noble. The unlit levels, color saturation, incompatibility and sharpness are all obliging. The sound in both lossless and lossey audio is also satisfactory. I utilize high-end equipment and I can’t fault the technical aspects of this release. Don’t let the uncouth designate dread you…this disc is a bargain.

Sequels worn to be about remaking the same film again and again (remember “Friday The 13th” or “Nightmare on Elm Street”? ) with minor variations so the audience gets their fix. John Carpenter, Kurt Russell and Debra Hill inverted the paradigmn reprising the best elements from “Hasten from Recent York” while introducing a heavy dose of satire aimed squarely at the Apt Majority and groups of that nature. While not as memorable as that film, “Rush from L. A.” takes perfect aim at liberal Hollywood, the conservative religious correct, sequels and skewers them all dreary on most of the time.

Snake Plissken is serve in anguish. Captured again he’s set into the service of national security against his will. It seems a procedure that can detonate orbital nuclear devices has been stolen by the President’s daughter and delivered into the hands of a self styled rebel leader named Cuervo Jones (George Corraface) in what’s left of Southern California. Cuervo plans on using this plot against the United States. Plissken is sent to the island of Los Angeles to retreive the draw. Yes, folks the Huge ONE finally hit and a huge piece of the Los Angeles basin dropped into the ocean like a ten ton weight while the remainder floats off the flit of the United States making the perfect region to deport people who don’t have high fair fiber or generally tick off the President for life (Cliff Robertson in a bent performance) . Infected by a deadly designer virus that makes Ebola seem like the flu, Snake has no choice but to lift the job of retrieving. Malloy (Stacy Keach stepping in for the slow Lee Van Cleef) and Brazen (the shapely Michelle Forbes slow of “Star Trek: The Next Generation”, “Homicide: Life on the Streets” and the second season of “24″) provide Snake with his only link to the outside world.

Along the arrangement Snake meets surfers (Peter Fonda), the Surgeon General of Beverly Hills (Bruce Campbell in a hilarious role that truly is the highlight of the movie) in pursuit of the intention. Oh and once again Snake has one of those expansive digital watches attached to his wrist to remind him his days are numbered if he doesn’t rep the plot aid in time. Filled with large cameos by Steve Buscemi (as Draw to the Stars Eddie), B-movie queen Pam Grier (as Hershe Las Palmas), Italian beauty Valerie Golino, the tedious Paul Bartel, Issac Hayes (in a cameo) and Robert Carradine “Flee from L.A.” unprejudiced might be Carpenter’s most undervalued film (along with the sizable satire “They Live”) .

The weakest link in the film turns out to be the uneven visual effects done by Disney’s Buena Vista Visual Effects. Some of the opticals study immense particularly the scenes where Los Angeles gets hit by the 9.6 earthquake. The sequences arresting the mini-sub and some of the helicopters sight as if they were taken from computer games. While computer graphics were unruffled developing at the time, I’m surprised that Disney’s effects house wasn’t able to near up with more convincing visuals for this sequence. Collected, while they aren’t what they could be they’re not the focus of the legend either and are a dazzling minor jam. Many of the best effects work quite well. The production originate by Lawrence G. Paull (”Blade Runner”, “Succor to the Future”, “Predator 2″) gives the film a grand bigger contemplate than the budget the film had (it cost roughly $50 million to acquire including the marketing fragment of the budget) . A bit of trivia about the film. Russell appears wearing the same costume he had for the first film at the beginning. Russell also made all the basketball shots seen in the climatic game himself.

Presented in its modern widescreen format with a trailer as the only extra, this was released when Paramount was playing bag up in releasing product for the DVD market. The image quality is exceptionally well-behaved with tremendous color reproduction and a nearly flawless print (particularly when compared to the remastered re-release of “Race from Recent York”) with a nice 5.1 sound mix.

It’s too unpleasant this hasn’t been reissued with extras (such as a commentary from Carpenter and Russell and one or two featurettes. Heck, there’s got to be a promo fragment somewhere in Paramount’s vault about this as I seem to remember one being released to promote it) because, while isn’t quite up to “Race from Novel York”, “Sprint from L.A.” is aloof a memorable sequel with enough satire, parody and humor laced moments to maintain fans of the modern elated. Hopefully one of these days this minor Carpenter classic will find the re-evaluation it deserves.

When I first saw this film in the theaters, I really didn’t like it. In fact, I was sparkling let down! I had grown up with Hasten From Novel York, and to my apprehension, John Carpenter remade his absorb film! I’m not kidding, REMADE it. Apt down to Snake getting shot in the leg and limping for the last half of the film. Years later I revaluated my concept. You can’t accomplish a film as corny as this on accident, especially if you’re a outmoded director like John Carpenter; It had to be done on purpose. I’ve read numerous interviews over the years and have found out two things, and I consider these two things are the reason this film ended up the arrangement it did. First, John Carpenter hates sequels. He never wanted to fabricate sequels to his films. He never wanted a sequel to Halloween(let alone six! That’s why he produced Halloween 3 which people hated so considerable, coz he was trying to select this series in a different direction and not retread the whole Michael Myers thing) . I also understand that both Carpenter and Kurt Russell were under alot of studio pressure to perform this film. I don’t know what kind of favor Carpenter owed the studio, but he made this film. And my theory is that he made this film intentionally poor to say to the studio, “There, I made the stinking sequel you wanted, don’t ask me to do it again!” I mean really, if he had wanted to build a sequel to Race From Current York, don’t you believe he would have struck while the iron was hot and made it at the height of the first film’s success instead of waiting 15 years? Assume about it. When I reflect this scenario, I can ogle Sprint From L.A and have a profitable laugh thinking that John Carpenter may have played a substantial joke on the Hollywood studios. Really, there’s no blueprint Carpenter included that surfing scene with the way of it being taken seriously. The film is fair plan too overblown, contrivance too cheesy and obviously a carbon copy of the fresh to be anything other than a joke. Kurt may be older now, but he’s actually unruffled able to play Snake Plissken like it’s 1980. The performance is tremendous, it’s unbiased the film surrounding Kurt that’s amusing. Try watching it again and peek what you deem.

It’s wretched in the uncouth that the First World War has largely fallen by the wayside. If we hear anything about the conflict at all, it’s usually on the History Channel or another network airing a documentary paunchy of grainy, unlit and white clips of men stumbling over the top of trenches. Interest in historical events tends to topple off significantly when those enthusiastic pass away, and in the case of the generation that fought this horrific war not only have they exited the stage, they have left the building as well. I developed a life long interest in “the war to extinguish all wars” after seeing Peter Weir’s 1981 film “Gallipoli” in a runt, race down art house theater at the age of ten. I didn’t understand the historical context at the time, but this dramatic interpretation of events that unfolded in the Dardanelles during 1915 left a lasting impression on my impressionable mind. I recently rewatched the film and can say that it calm works as an intense drama and as a serious antiwar statement. Weir’s overt hostility toward the British commanders at Gallipoli, however, doesn’t stand up as well. By the arrangement, this is one of the films that propelled Mel Gibson to international stardom.

Weir decided to focus his film not on the massive armies battling away in Europe, but on two individuals living in Australia. Archy Hamilton (Trace Lee) and Frank Dunne (Mel Gibson) are two of the fastest runners in the country. Hamilton trains with his demanding grandfather, who promises the young lad that if he works hard he may yet go down as the next national sports hero. Frank, on the other hand, wanders around the country with a few buddies taking any job he can earn and generally objective having a lot of fun. News of the escalating war in Europe is vague and distant, referenced only when someone brings up a news legend they saw in the paper. Archy wants to go and fight, attracted by the lure of glory that has suckered millions of young people since the dawn of time into distress. Frank doesn’t reflect of war as glory, and when his pals bring up the understanding of enlisting he quietly makes his region known. Both of these young men’s lives are forever changed after the slay up competing against each other in a foot run at a regional graceful. Archy barely wins, but a friendship develops between the two that soon finds Frank tagging along when Archy decides to enlist in the celebrated cavalry. Frank agrees to join with Archy, once he discovers that the ladies esteem a soldier, but goes into the infantry after failing to qualify for the light horse unit.

It really doesn’t matter anyway since horses won’t acquire a bit of inequity when the ANZAC (Australian and Modern Zealand Army Corps) soldiers head first to Egypt and then the Dardanelles for combat against the Ottoman Turks. What the war inconvenience needs are bodies superb of running headlong into a withering wall of machine gun fire, and cavalry troops minus their steeds will work in this capacity objective as well as infantrymen. Before they approach the killing fields, Archy and Frank reunite during a training use in Egypt. Hamilton convinces his commander to enlist Dunne in the cavalry, claiming that his skills as a runner rival his enjoy and that both men will fabricate a major contribution to the regiment. Weir shows us plenty of carefully crafted scenes of the men having a first-rate time in Cairo, of the deepening camaraderie taking residence even as the war looms larger and larger in the background. The movie takes a doom and gloom turn as the ANZAC forces land at Gallipoli to occupy fraction in the fighting. Casualties mount as attacks designed to expand the beachhead fail under Turkish machine guns. Soon, Archy and Frank know they will have to go over the top too, and realize they will certainly perish in the process. The conclusion to “Gallipoli” is one of the most emotionally grinding, soul shattering denouements in motion represent history.

The only thing I found extremely irritating about “Gallipoli” is the cheesy synth musical come by, which now sounds so early 1980s that it dates the recount terribly. I mediate the message about how people join up to go to war for all the imperfect reasons, however, is unruffled highly relevant. And if there was any war that everyone should have avoided, it was World War I. Generals and leaders serene subscribed to antiquated notions of warfare, never taking into legend machine guns, poison gas, and airplanes would decimate the troops. The fatalities were truly appalling, with millions perishing in muddy trenches during the four year conflict. Weir expertly depicts the squalid conditions of the trenches, but he goes too far blaming the film’s fatal charge on the British commanders. First of all, far more British soldiers died during the campaign in the Dardanelles than did members of ANZAC. Second, why position the onus for the war on the British? Plenty of commanders on all sides made mistake after mistake in this conflagration, mistakes that resulted in so many fatalities that it’s a wonder humanity didn’t rise up and cast their leaders into the fire.

“Gallipoli” wins the day in the extinguish thanks to the charm of Note Lee and Mel Gibson. Weir’s cinematography sinks its claws in as well. Check out the shots of the Australian outback, the Red Wicked party, and the landing at Gallipoli to learn why. The transfer looks estimable, but the only extra on the disc is a short interview with Weir about the making of the film. I wanted a commentary track for this film desperately, and aloof hope a special edition will advance on the market in the come future. If you haven’t seen “Gallipoli,” check it out soon.

There’s been a few things said about this movie, several reviewers mentioned that it was slow-moving, and another pointed out with exasperating pedantry the historical inaccuracies, but I’d like to say that I judge ‘Gallipoli’ is a apt movie. It was well shot and well acted, the characters were genuine and believeable, the obtain was magnificient, the tale was spicy, and although the script had less action than, say, ‘Saving Private Ryan’ it also wasn’t wasteful – one wouldn’t have cared about the people if one didn’t know them.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Gallipoli! Click Here

Which is also the point. If `Gallipoli’ wasn’t historically correct, and it’s tough to picture a yearlong chronicle in an hour and a half, one does pick up the point. Which, of course, is that wars, especially this one, and especially this battle, are plain, self-serving and pointlessly destructive endeavors.

I’m dumbfounded by the reviewer who chose to lambaste the portrayal of the British officers in the campaign. I’m surprised an Aussie would say that, but then again there’re plenty of Yanks who’ll second guess Harry S Truman from now till the slay of time, so who am I to consider. While I’m the first to admit that those words were probably not said, I have to occupy that the blue blood of the capital officers taught them not to give a damn about the sweat and blood of some abominable sons-of-criminals from a lost colony. I’m not alone, and I quote from John Merriman’s History of Current Europe, p1059, “Other [historians] agree with most contemporaries who believed that [Gallipoli] was a needless diversion dictated by British colonial interests in the Middle East and for which Australian and Modern Zealander troops paid a disproportionate trace.”

The aristocratic attitude of the officers in the Large War was the single thing that caused the casualty rates The well-bred officers didn’t care that they were sending men with bolt-action rifles against entrenched machine guns because they were honest peasants (or Australians) anyway. That is the historical truth, and I for one like how it came out in the training sequence as well as the battle sequences of this movie. It belongs in the collection of anybody who doesn’t want to go to war.

So few films have been made about the dance world, and this one captures the heart of it, with the insane hours of hard work, the sweat, and the frayed egos. The site of “One Last Dance” is based on “Without a Word,” a play Patrick Swayze and his wife Lisa Neimi created many years ago. It is a wisp of a chronicle, mostly about the emotions and conflicts of 3 dancers who are past their performance peak, returning to the stage for a attend gala, to face their fears and the relationships they left late.

Writer/director/actress and dancer Neimi, who has an inner and outer beauty so delicate to behold, has establish “One Last Dance” together on a shoestring budget, with sizable skill and a valid cast. The company dancers are excellent, with a technical virtuosity in many styles, from old to the most contemporary. George de la Pena plays Max Delano, one of the 3 leads, and will be remembered from his days with the American Ballet Theater and on Broadway, and is dynamic both as a dancer and an actor. Other standouts include Matthew Walker as Alex McGrath, a sadistic choreographer, and Stefan Wenta as Orest, a poetic teacher who is an inspiration to all. Patrick Swayze as Travis is a marvel, with the athleticism and energy of someone half his age.

The improbable come by is by Stacy Widelitz, with non-original music that ranges from Beethoven’s 7th Symphony, to a cameo by Daniel Heifetz (grandson of the legendary Jascha Heifetz) as a street violinist. The cinematography by Albert Dunk is terrific on the dance sequences, which sometimes have a touch of surrealism using smoke and other effects, and there are some splendid overhead crane shots. Dance is not an easy thing to film, and in “One Last Dance” we have scenes that are spectacular. The attractive and sometimes inspired choreography is by Alonzo King, Dwight Rhoden, Doug Varone, and Patsy Swayze (Patrick’s mother) .

As someone who spent 2 decades of my life immersed in the world of dance, I savor the authenticity of this film, and the excellence of its performers. It is positive to become a film classic for dancers and those who worship to glimpse them. DVD extras include a “slack the scenes” fraction, and commentary by Patrick and Lisa. Total running time is 100 minutes.

Patrick Swayze is a man of many talents. He is an exceptional actor, dancer, and singer. I purchased this movie solely because he was in it. :)

However, I was VERY pleasantly surprised that there was so remarkable more to this movie! The storyline was unbelievable. Very dinky dialog is needed. The legend of three dancers returning to the dance world is told through their dancing.

It was attractive to inspect the 40 something year olds dance their hearts out, often along side the 20 something year olds. I would cherish to view “The Company” dance together in person… if that were only possible. They all meshed together extremely well.

Lisa Neimi did a incredible job. Her ability to dance, act, and content is splendid.

George de la Pena’s acting and dancing skills were breath taking as well.

Don’t peer this movie with your eyes only, FEEL it through your heart and soul!

Although the steady DVD plot isn’t out as of the time I write this, the 4th season finished airing months ago and now since they have the page for pre-order up, I’ve been kinda itching to write a review.

Well as this season starts off from the 3rd season cliffhanger, it is definately off to an awesome originate. Atlantis lost, adrift in location and running out of power. To conserve energy, they shrink the shield down to a little part of the city and then what happens? …Atlantis runs into an asteroid belt! Then to gain more power, they actually raid the Asuran homeworld for ZPM’s using Dr. Weir! A very provocative beginning.

While the majority of episodes are hits, such as the episode where a disease causes everyone to lose their memories(Tabula Rasa) or the one where Teal’c comes for a visit(Midway) ; there are some that drop short of their potential for giving more or are honest slow plain! For example: the end-season cliffhanger! This is the first time I’ve ever been disappointed with an Atlantis cliffhanger, not leaving me anxiously challenging to examine how they come by out of that status, waiting for the next season. It ends with Sheppard and his team searching a building for Teyla, but it self-destructs and collapses in on them. (Zzzzzz…you know they survive it) A better design to waste the season would have been to leave Sheppard stranded 48,000 years in the future, revealing more about what happened in the galaxy in all that time and trying to figure out a diagram to bag succor home with the McKay hologram’s novel understanding failing to work! Now that sounds like one hell of a cliffhanger!

Buy,Download, Or Stream Stargate Atlantis – The Complete Fourth Season! Click Here

I reviewed season 3 as well, saying it gives potential for an awesome season 4. Does it live up to that potential? It comes end, but unfortunately no it doesn’t. Why? It unbiased seems like the shows creators/writers aren’t willing to go all the contrivance in some of the episode’s stories. For that matter, I can’t figure out what direction the point to is headed in anymore; can you? (I catch the explain IS going in some direction)

At least this time around they gave more attention to the Wraith and to Teyla. The whole fable arc with the Athosian people being kidnapped and Teyla’s search for them, both expanded, and renewed some interest, in her character. In my season 3 review I also stated my celebrated character is McKay, but even I am starting to earn tired of seeing him so powerful in every episode.

Dr. Weir was officially lost this season, then killed, then…kinda came wait on? But fortunately we regained some aged faces. Dr. Beckett (or at least a clone) came relieve at an ruin of the season episode. And while I liked having Samantha Carter as the Atlantis commander, impartial like Dr. Weir in season 3, they didn’t use her character enough!

Which leads us to season 5. SPOILERS AHEAD! I’ve read various sources about what season 5 of Atlantis will have instore for us fans & veiwers, and most have been confirmed. The biggy for me being that Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping) will NOT be befriend as Atlantis’ commander. (Due to the fact she’ll be staring in her acquire expose, “Sanctuary”.) But she will arrive encourage for some guest appearances. Who’s replacing her? Richard Woolsey (Robert Picardo)! I have completely mixed feelings about his character, but he definately doesn’t have what it takes to content Atlantis! So unless he grows a pair and proves himself as something other than a cowering beaurocrat, this alone makes me dangerous about season 5 as well as the future of the explain. Dr. Beckett and Dr. Daniel Jackson will guest star in some episodes, as well as 2 unique characters and an entirely fresh bustle being introduced.

Don’t secure me atrocious, I collected really like Atlantis and am going to gather the season 4 DVD once it’s released, but I must say this is the first time I am unsafe about how the next season will hold shape, or if it will even be any righteous? Let’s unbiased hope season 5 will explain me irascible!

The season 4 DVD space itself will have the usual: commentaries, deleted scenes, etc. However, this will be the first Atlantis season DVD that will have a bloopers reel.

**UPDATE: Well, Season 4 came out today, I’ve got it and am watching it accurate now. Physical DVD-wise, the video and sound is serene mountainous like seasons 2 & 3. Packaging is the same as well. The menus are different from seasons 2 & 3 DVD’s, but are unruffled cool-looking and are easy to navigate. (You don’t have to go through a lot of submenus to net what you are looking for.) Hope this latest info helps anyone!

Surprisingly, season 4 of Stargate Atlantis is better than season 3–it is unbiased about on par with season 2. Most of the storylines are decent, with some very exquisite ones; even with the mostly annoying characters, this season is tolerable.

Lt. Col. John Sheppard has deviated from his Jack O’Neill Jr. behavior, now becoming a standard yet spineless character; when faced with most women, he’s smooth and weak-willed, barely standing up for himself–unlike his decisive attitude around men. Col. Samantha Carter, taking the station of Dr. Weir, is a respectable and strong leader–at times, she is the only one to deny up for the good course of action. Dr. Rodney McKay, barely changing in the slightest, remains arrogant and smug; however, Carter can sometimes shut him up with a well-placed comment, which is quite satisfying. Teyla, although the victim of a sometimes pathetic place twist, is very faintly better than she was in season 3, sometimes offering up Athosian wisdom for those in need. Ronon is, in my plan, the best character in the show: he is on occasion the only person with approved sense, and also tells it exactly like it is.

As for the episodes:

Adrift–5 of 10–We engage up where we left off in season 3, with the city floating in state and losing power. The whole of this episode is spent on creating and solving jam upon problem: an asteroid belt threatens the city, as well as badly damaged power conduits and loss of shield protection. This goes on until it ends in a very unsatisfactory manner. I couldn’t serve but contemplate that a better solution could have been found to the main, crippling spot of this episode.

Lifeline–7 of 10–Even with the awful ending of `Adrift’, this episode finishes things up very nicely, with a plucky mission and doughty succor from the wounded Dr. Weir. Rodney of course discovers something else that they could try to do while going through with their new mission; I expected things to go from terrible to worse and their plans to fail, but thankfully everything went well, with the city actually surviving somewhat unscathed. This is a excellent ending to a unpleasant scrape.

Reunion–8 of 10–Ronon stumbles upon three of his friends from Sateda (his home planet) and wonders whether he should leave Atlantis to finish with them. The Satedans are actually slightly dislikeable, being somewhat boorish and rough around the edges; they influence Ronon far too remarkable at times, but they have an unpredictable secret that almost dooms Ronon. As with mostly all episodes focusing on Ronon, this is enjoyable–although it features some very unfamiliar fight scenes…

Doppelganger–4 of 10–Sheppard touches a crystalline object on an alien planet and soon appears in everyone’s nightmares. The thought unhurried this episode is interesting; but throughout it, I was laughing! Unintentionally, it becomes more of a gloomy comedy instead of horrific and sharp. Something about Sheppard being the villain in each and every nightmare is actually quite comic.

Travelers–3 of 10–Sheppard is captured by a exclusive ship and tries to dash while dealing with the ship’s stereotypically gorgeous commander. This episode might actually outdo season 2’s `Grace Under Pressure’ in terms of being annoying. Larrin, the commander, is anything but military, even though she lives on her tattered ship; her hair is long and flowing, she wears tight murky leather, and she saunters through the corridors like a fashion model. When she gets what she wants, her attitude is predictably smug–when she doesn’t accept what she wants, she becomes pugnacious and petulant, at one point stomping her foot and hollering like a twelve-year-old. All in all, this is useless.

Tabula Rasa–9 of 10–In an amazingly top-notch and intelligent episode, Rodney finds himself tied to his desk, with almost total memory loss, and unique instructions from a recording of himself. The explanation of the memory loss is logical and understandable; the adventures ensuing are involving and mysterious; the flashbacks to hours earlier are nice and enlightening; and it all serves to invent an episode I heartily enjoyed!

Missing–6 of 10–Teyla and Keller, traveling to utilize a day at the novel Athosian settlement, get that the people are missing; they encounter the unfavorable Bola Kai tribesmen wandering the planet and must mask for panic of take and death. In this episode, Keller at last shows her mettle–after whimpering and moaning for most of the time, she finds her inner courage and faces a uncertain enemy. The largest pickle with the episode, though, is that in all other season 3 and 4 episodes, I saw no mention of the Athosians being relocated to another planet. I have no plan when they got there!

The Seer–8 of 10–Still searching for the Athosians, Teyla seeks out a illustrious seer–the leader of a group of people on another planet–and finds that he knows considerable about Atlantis’ future. Although the seer himself doesn’t have grand to do, his visions predict quite a bit of misfortune for Atlantis; meanwhile, the team finds themselves inextricably linked with the Wraith in order to fight the Replicators. With the amount of adventures involved–and the very slight amount of mistakes made–this episode is very trustworthy.

Miller’s Crossing–5 of 10–Rodney’s sister Jeannie is kidnapped and, in searching for her, Rodney stumbles into a trap. This episode gives Rodney and Jeannie a chance to argue and sulk, which they are both quite generous at. Unprejudiced as in season 3’s `McKay and Mrs. Miller’, the premise itself is not very sound; the decisions that Rodney, Jeannie, and even their kidnapper accomplish are foolish; as a plus, Jeannie decides to call Rodney by his trusty name, Meredith, through the entire episode–even though he has already told her that he goes by the name of Rodney. Like before, this is rather worthless.

This Mortal Coil–9 of 10–After a curious drone from an unknown source crashes into the city, the denizens of Atlantis slowly initiate to realize that there’s something fresh going on. At the beginning, this episode is a game of `what’s contaminated with this portray? ‘ Once the truth is finally known–shocking not only the team, but myself as well–the team must work to avert grief and provide assist…but those who need wait on are the most unlikely of people!

Be All My Sins Remember’d–7 of 10–Since the Replicators are attacking more and more planets, the team decides to choose things once and for all. Larrin, clichéd commander of the Traveler warship, gets an appearance; when Sheppard comes to her–virtually groveling for her wait on instead of candidly asking for it–she decides to tie him to a chair (apparently a running gag) . What’s nice is that Col. Ellis, commander of the Apollo, finally manages to give Rodney a fragment of his mind before they all go off to fight the Replicators. In the slay, though a unusual and repugnant enemy is revealed to us in the audience, although the team knows nothing of them.

Spoils of War–7 of 10–The team, led by a signal from Todd’s subspace tracking scheme, stumbles on a top secret Wraith outpost, where they will win many threats. Teyla finally gets a chance to attend out, with as noteworthy courage as ever, while Sheppard, Rodney, and Ronon examine the facility. A Wraith queen is spotlighted and gets to express and spit in the usual over-the-top manner. Although this episode is contrived in spots, it calm is somewhat decent.

Quarantine–6 of 10–After the city mistakenly quarantines itself, many of the main characters derive themselves trapped together, giving them a chance to learn more about each other. We bag that Dr. Zelenka raises pigeons; Dr. Keller graduated from college at age 15; and other assorted dinky tidbits. Rodney is of course featured prominently in this episode, as he is in almost all of them. The extremely genuine fragment about this episode is that Dr. Zelenka finally gets a chance to do something worthy for the entire city. Otherwise, it’s the usual, mediocre at best.

Harmony–4 of 10–Sheppard and Rodney agree to shepherd a young princess on a rite of passage; in a reverse of Star Trek: The Next Generation’s `The Dauphin’, the girl–who bears the Earth name Harmony–develops a crush on Sheppard. This results in her acting somewhat like The Lord of the Rings’ Gollum, pretending to yell in Sheppard’s arms while smirking at Rodney instead. She is the classic spoiled-brat child, not caring whether Sheppard or Rodney survive their mission, and explaining her actions with the words “I’m the queen!” Throughout most of the episode, I could gaze all the major events coming easily. This is a light, very faintly comedic episode that is worth seeing only once.

Outcast–6 of 10–Sheppard’s father dies and he comes home to Earth for the funeral, but then finds himself in noteworthy deeper worry than he expected. His polished brother wears a care for suit and has perfectly coiffed hair; his ex-wife, even with her nightclub-style outfit, works implausibly for the Department of Homeland Security; strangely, Sheppard finds himself at a complete loss for words every time he encounters either of them. Otherwise, the main storyline–featuring Replicators, as well as an unexpected appearance by a dilapidated supporting character from season 1–is decent at the very least. Of course, there are some record points that I can witness coming…but then again, that’s factual for almost all the episodes.

Trio–8 of 10–Carter, Rodney, and Keller are trapped in a outmoded Genii mine that is racked by tremors. Thankfully, Rodney doesn’t earn to present worthy of his very annoying tendencies in this episode, although contributing an understanding on how to escape; Carter and Keller also do their separate parts, trying to gather out before the tremors slay the mine. While this is the standard `a plight arises, and most attempts to solve it fail miserably’ episode, it manages to be keen because of the interaction between the three characters. All three of them show themselves by draw of valiant actions.

Midway–10 of 10–With Ronon about to be evaluated by the IOA, Carter decides that Teal’c could affirm the Satedan worthy. However, when times grow tough, Ronon and Teal’c must work together to set aside Earth. This is by far the best episode of season 4, featuring a obedient crossover and horrible problems. There is a big (and regrettably short) fight scene between Ronon and Teal’c, featuring Chuck the gate technician taking bets on who will get. Even with the tribulations, the two warriors work well together; however, in the meantime, Sheppard and Rodney net themselves in equal danger. I esteem this episode not only because of Teal’c, but also because of the engrossing and plausible scrape. If only every Atlantis episode had the unbelievable writing this one does!

The Kindred, Section 1–6 of 10–In a slightly gripping decline from `Midway’, Teyla finds herself having visions of Kanaan, the father of her child, and feels that she must search at a determined village. In the meantime, a sudden plague is sweeping through the galaxy. Almost everything in this episode results in disaster; Teyla–while searching for her people–is captured, and Sheppard and the other team members come by that a familiar and annoying villain is slack the plague. Todd, the jolly Wraith, gives them microscopic encourage and asks for it in return, but in the destroy his information does them no pleasant. The very last moment of the episode features a surprising return from a much-beloved character…

The Kindred, Portion 2–7 of 10–While Teyla finds her people again, Sheppard and friends try to rep her with the attend of the newly returned character (whose identity I will not mutter) . That person has quite a few health problems, which lessen his/her ability to help; in the meantime, Teyla learns more about the experiments being performed on some of her people. In the waste, information is gathered and the Athosians are rescued, but Teyla remains a prisoner. Even though the villain in this two-part episode now has the usual mad-scientist qualities, this episode is far from poor. The raze is tragic as the returned character takes his/her leave from his/her friends. Not terrible!

The Last Man–7 of 10–Sheppard comes through the gate and finds that he’s been sent 48,000 years in the future; naturally, Rodney–once Sheppard went missing–came up with a hologram of himself that is programmed to assist Sheppard in any plot possible. Most of the episode is taken up by reminisces of events taking spot after Sheppard vanished–there are many things that go unfriendly, such as Michael predictably trying to catch over the galaxy. While Sheppard tries to fetch a arrangement out of the future, the hologram of older Rodney tells him stories of Ronon, Carter, Teyla, Keller and Rodney himself too. This episode is advantageous because of its similarities to the Star Trek: Voyager series finale, but unfortunately the ending is rushed.

How could a movie fanatic go obnoxious with this one? Sidney Pollack directing, with Francis Ford Coppola helping out with the adaptation of a Tennessee Williams play? A grand cast, with especially memorable performances from Natalie Wood, Kate Reid and Mary Badham (as younger sister, Willie Starr)? Roberts Redford and Blake and Charles Bronson thrown in for lagniappe? Sounds like sizable gumbo to me.

Natalie Wood is absolutely alluring in this one. She and Redford, who also teamed together in the memorable INSIDE DAISY CLOVER, did indeed appear to have a lot of cover chemistry. He is the cynical company man who appears like the Grim Reaper in a cramped, shabby, depression-era southern town, carrying pink slips with him, instead of a scythe. The role has a lot of resonance now, what with all the corporate downsizing currently going on. Needless to say, the townfolk don’t great cotton to Mr Owen Legate, with his love suit and self-assured ways.

With a couple important exceptions. Tom boyish Willie Starr is taken by him good away and the diminutive her immense sister Alma sets eyes on him, she’s putty. Wood’s expression in that initial spy is fraction of film history.

Owen further antagonizes the townfolk because they look that Alma has taken a shine to an outsider. Alma’s been something of a tramp up this point, givining it up to varying degrees to most of the men in the town. Several of them, including an venerable geezer with an invilid wife, have been fantazising about further adventures with Alma. And Alma’s mother is upset with Owen, because she sees that he is going to seize away her gravy divulge. Hazel Starr is one of Williams’ titanic eccentric female characters, and perhaps his most unctuous (though Amanda Wingfield, in THE GLASS MENAGERIE, is no prize, either. Kate Reid is perfect in the role. This, to me is her most memorable performance, followed closely by her title role in AND MISS REARDON DRINKS A Microscopic, which unfortunatley appears to be impossible to catch. It’s hard to maintain she never won an Oscar or a Tony.

This was only the second feature film that Pollock directed. He of course went on to vast things with such films as THEY SHOOT HORSES DON’T THEY and TOOTSIE. He and Cinematographer James Wong Howe do a sizable job of capturing dinky southern town lethargy, as well as 30’s Recent Orleans ambience. The print, unfortunately, could definitely expend a corpulent restoration. It’s mature noticeably over time. The film certainly warrants the extra work. Yet time cannot wither Natalie Wood. She’s collected one of the most resplendent women a camera ever made worship to. This film definitely belongs come the top of the list for hide adaptations of Williams’ plays.

BEK

When I first saw this film, as a preteen, I belief it was the ultimate romance. Well, I got older … and saw it again. And it’s tranquil attractive romantic. In fact, it’s quiet a film I stare over and over.

The performances are really juicy. Everyone in it seems to understand the over-the-top quality of Tennessee Williams, and no one disappoints. You’ll net Charles Bronson and a very young Robert Blake in supporting roles here. Both Kate Reid, as Wood’s driving, ambitious `Mama’ using her delicate daughter to hook the town’s men, and Mary Badham, as `Willie’, the not-so-beautiful younger sister who idolizes Wood, are quite simply respectable. Every proceed, every inspect from both are truly sublime.

Natalie Wood has always been one of my celebrated stars, and she is every skedaddle the star in this one. It’s determined from her first closeup how special, how different, and how inviting Alva Starr is to everyone she comes in contact with. She meets her match in Robert Redford, the man who has no dreams, who sees her in unvarnished murky and white but comes to bask in her need to color life … in fact, realizes he can’t live without it when he’s separated from her.

Is it tremendous drama? No. But it’s heavenly soap opera. The best soap opera, the most memorable Southern soap opera, you’re likely to win. These people have exact problems, dependable needs, and they’re beautifully drawn by the screenwriters (thank you, Francis Coppola, among others) and by the actors who play them. We’re given a lot of time to know them and care about them, and we do care, very noteworthy.

It’s one of my well-liked guilty pleasures, and I quiz I’ll sustain watching it for years to near. Don’t miss it.

Don’t let the PG-13 rating of the theatrical version of Sam Raimi’s Walk Me to Hell fool you, this is hard boiled panic that shouldn’t be taken lightly. Though he may be more recognzied these days for bringing Spider-Man to the broad camouflage, Raimi first made a name for himself with the Injurious Boring trilogy, which began as a hardcore, balls to the wall panic franchise that gradually merged slapstick comedy into the equation. While there is a well-behaved amount of shadowy humor to be found with Run Me to Hell, the film as a whole is a dizzying, nerve-rattling promenade from the opening sequence accurate to its conclusion. Alison Lohman stars as Christine, an ambitious loan officer at a bank who is seeking a immense time promotion. In an grief to come by it, she makes a tough decision in turning down a third extension on the mortgage of an broken-down gypsy woman (Lorna Raver), who subsequently puts a curse on her that will culminate in her soul being taken to Hell. Justin Long is along for the paddle as Christine’s caring boyfriend, and Dileep Rao stars as a psychic who may be able to encourage Christine, who resorts to more desperate and desperate actions in an misfortune to attach herself. Packed with some surprisingly putrid and disgusting moments, Move Me to Hell is a compelling and genuinely evil film that you will not soon forget. It is so refreshing to gaze a mainstream panic flick that isn’t vexed to impart the goods and not adhere to typical conventions. Welcome encourage Sam, we’ve missed you.

I can’t hold I’m going to say this but Stir Me to Hell is my common movie of the year so far (Inglourious Basterds is a end second) . I view this Sam Raimi gem would come by mixed reviews at best, so I was blown away when I saw the 100 or so clear reviews flowing in from critics. It ranks with UP and Star Stir as one of the best reviewed movies of the year. That rarely happens with a awe film, but this one is so powerful more. It’s burly of sunless humor, snide out gags (really pushes the PG-13 envelope), obedient acting, nice SFX and an captivating narrative. I can’t remember the last time I was this surprised at how mighty better the movie was than any of the trailers or what I had expected going in.

Alison Lohman really sold me here. She is very cute, but she shows the smarts and toughness you almost never look in a scare flick. Really generous stuff from her. The whole cast from Justin Long to the base gypsy lady is position on and you can’t leave out director Sam Raimi. His visual style here will remind you of The Putrid Boring trilogy, but with a bigger budget and impartial as remarkable creativeness. It was mammoth to study this now summer blockbuster director go serve to his roots and knock it out of the park. The music and sound effects are some of the best I’ve heard in a long time. When it goes from calm to extremely loud, the sound alone will produce you jump. Out of all the movies I have seen in theaters, I can’t remember one with sound mixing this helpful.

Well, do you contemplate I liked Trot Me to Hell unbiased a miniature bit? Really? When it comes to panic films, especially in modern years, few pack the thrills, laughs and entertainment value that this one brings.

I am not going to preface this with any gigantic statements about being a BSG fan from day one. If I am taking the time to write this, you should suspect that already.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Battlestar Galactica: The Plan! Click Here

This movie really works in that it is a still epic in a very noisy room. It is about how life finds ways to disrupt our plans but not always in a abominable diagram. It is about reconciling what you mediate you want with what actually want. It is about learning “the truth” isn’t always in the profitable dismal and white places we do. It is about savor in all its forms.

First, about the nudity. It exists. Net over it. BSG was never a “family suitable” point to given its themes, so if you were expecting something different here, then you are about to be sadly incorrect. There are no basic cable broadcast guidelines to satisfy, so a tale can be told in whatever diagram the storytellers wish. The nudity is not gratuitous or in your face, so deal with the fact it is unbiased another adult theme that BSG can expend without restriction now.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Battlestar Galactica: The Plan! Click Here

Here is the crux of it: at its heart, this movie is about how the Cylons intended on destroying humanity for their perceived wrongs against the Cylon speed, and how that opinion changed literally everyone. In the loyal world, it would have been nice to have been able to film scenes with all of the cast members, but monetarily that was not to be – everyone (including Lucy Lawless, contrary to another review here) is represented through previous footage in some fashion. Jane Espenson pain all their stories together in a stunning fashion, and Edward James Olmos mixed the stock footage together with the fresh that it was at times hard to whisper which was which. The yarn was enthralling enough that I could suspend the fan’s well-known glance for the first running of the movie, and honest like the account Ms. Epenson and Mr. Olmos told.

Will you like it? Hard to assure, but only because I don’t know you. If you sit wait on and let the chronicle unfold, you will most likely accept this an consuming work and a marvelous addition to the BSG canon. If you are watching this to witness (acquire in your common actor here) ’s sage expanded, you might be out of luck – and you also might be missing the point. This is a detached tale not always about specific individuals, but rather about how an individual can affect others and how that ripples through even the most well laid out idea. It is an intimate epic told on a mammoth pallette, and thanks to the people in front of and gradual the camera, it works beautifully.

I started watching The Idea really skeptical; I read all the reviews here, and idea it was going to be mediocre at best, as all the negative reviews seem to be saying that in unison.

However, I was really pleasantly surprised. I can understand how some people might be disappointed with The Conception, it doesn’t, after all, respond some of the questions left hanging in the air after the series finale. It doesn’t have the area battles or insane intensity of some of BSG’s better episodes. It doesn’t include some of the most vital characters (Laura Roslin, Apollo, Starbuck) .

But The Understanding was never planned or written, I deem, as a nostalgia film that is supposed to exploit our feelings for these characters to milk us for some cash. Instead, it has decided to do something bold: to voice an entirely modern narrative that connects with what we already know, happening at the same time as what we’ve seen during the first two seasons of BSG.

It’s the record of how the Cylons, each in different situations and living amongst different humans were in fact influenced by those humans. We sight them developing obedient empathy, and tell detest. We eye some renouncing their Cylon identity because of what they’ve done. We leer them questioning their actions. We gaze them at their most luminous, but also at their most incompetent. We ogle them for what they truly are: the substandard creations of corrupt creations. In the kill, the suitable is simple: it’s easy to destroy someone from state with a nuke. It’s hard to destroy someone looking them in the examine.

If your going to study The Understanding expecting some astronomical revelations about the loose ends in the series finale, then you will advance out disappointed. But if you explore The Belief looking for a really well written movie, with some terrific performances, some unique insights into Cylon thinking, or impartial for a diminutive nostalgia, you wont be disappointed.

So, if you settle to select this DVD, deem it on it’s gain merits.

My son was diagnosed with Pervasive Development Disorder – Not Otherwise Specified when he was 3. PDD-NOS is on the Autism spectrum, and children with this diagnosis often have developmental delays.

My son had a speech delay and other developmental delays. His speech is huge now…no one can detect that he has this diagnosis. However, the delays have, understandably, affected his learning in some areas.

While his spatial skills have been plan above average–as has his bewitch of science (such as planets and their attributes) –he has resisted reading. He gets tired and frustrated.

Buy,Download, Or Stream LeapFrog – Talking Words Factory! Click Here

Well, trying many approaches for helping him, I opinion I’d hold a chance and accept the Talking Words Factory from Amazon.com, especially since the reviews were so expedient.

I am very, very satisfied with this DVD! My son watches it quite often, and he’s now reading books on his contain. I can peer a marked contrast in a matter of WEEKS. Before, he had to believe about how some of the letters sounded. Now, he rattles them off like a pro–as well as 3-letter words!

This DVD also teaches about vowels and consonants, so he’s learning how the vowels are sticky like glue, holding words together (thanks to Professor Quigley’s Sticky-Ick-O-Rama machine!) . The Word Whammer machine shows children how to establish the consonants and vowels together, and how they sound. I like the fact that they’ll switch around the vowels with the same beginning and ending consonants, to highlight how a vowel sounds within a word.

Talking Words Factory also teaches rhyming, which is a bonus.

Highly recommended!

I have never felt strong enough to actually bewitch the time to write a review. I am a certified k-6 teacher who has told everyone I know about Leap Frog’s 4 astonishing movie and now I am telling you…

LF Letter Factory: This was the first (out of 4) Leap Frog Movie that my children watched. My 3 1/2 year ancient and 2 years 2 month musty boys are allowed to gaze 1 movie a day. Each Day they agreed, in excitement, to watched this movie. Under a week my 3 1/2 year extinct knew his letter sounds. He could instruct the letter sound song almost as quickly as he could swear the alphabet. After a week, he amazed us when he sat down on the ground and wrote out the entire alphabet like a 4th grader. Had NO plan he could write like this! Shortly thereafter, the 2 year obsolete knew all his letter sounds and letter recognition.

Talking Words Factory: I was so impressed that I bought them the Talking Words Factory that 2nd week. I wasn’t surprised that my 3 1/2 year old-fashioned began to spell, writing, and sounding out 3 letter words. He told me all about how the vowels were all sticky and their job was to stick letters together to accomplish words. He went around singing the vowel song.

My kids loved the videos so remarkable that for 10 months…My son’s (who passe to play with Thomas the Trains and puppies) were obsessed with letters and words. They made their acquire letter and word factory machines out of their toys and tubs, drew each letter cartoon character, and sang the letter and vowel songs, and the older one wrote, yes wrote, many of his maintain homemade books.

Talking Word Factory 2: It doesn’t discontinuance there…They got the Talking Word Factory 2 and Math Circus when they came out this Christmas. In a couple of days, the now 4 year mature, was telling me all about sh, ch, th, and other blends. He told me how the mute e at the ruin of the word made the other vowel say its name (long vowel sound) . He went on to sigh me also how “when 2 vowels go walking the first one does the talking.” And he wrote and read novel complex words such as, boat, home, dime, wait, etc. This really increased his ability to read many, many modern words – 8 letter words too!

Math Circus: They loved it too! Though it is hastily engaging for beginners, it is engrossing and has an easy idea. Adding and subtracting now comes fine easy for my 4 year frail. I gave him a math work sheet for addition and subtraction fair for kicks. Wouldn’t you know it, he did all of them with no plight. He was so eager in adding that he started asking about problems such as 3 + 3 + 3. Which helped him learn the belief of multiplication 3 x 3, 3 x 4, etc. But, we told him that he had plenty of time to learn that later!

The only negative comments that I have to say about these Leap Frog videos: Nothing, Oh, except that I wish my children weren’t so obsessed with letters! They eat, breath, and sleep letters. Sometimes I unprejudiced wish they would play with the trains, cars, and other toys. They will have their entire school life to learn about letters and reading! I impartial hope that when the time comes for school that they won’t have grown board of it!

Other Leap Frog learning tools that reinforce what they learned on the videos:

LF Fridge Phonics Magnets – Cherish it. It sings each letters song when you do the letter in the hole.

LF Word Whammer Fridge Phonics Situation – LF unbiased came out with this. I know that they will adore. I bought it for the next birthday! It is like the Fridge Phonics, but you can spell 3 letter words.

LF Letter Factory Board Game – Like it too! It is interactive and the board game talks and sings!

LF Converse Along Letters Flash Cards & CD – Songs from the DVDs. Not that you don’t hear the songs sang enough from your children!

Wish they would acquire computer CD’s too!

LF Leap Pad – Fun but they got board with the same books over & over. $14 a book!

There are many others, but I had to plot the line somewhere!

If you check all the other reviews, I am not alone. Only two out of 121 people gave this movie less than 5 stars! It is about time someone made a movie that parents and children both agree on! Thank you Leap Frog!
