“Desperate Housewives” is an absolute phenomenon! I remember I saw an advert on Channel 4 over here in England advertising this fresh expose and unprejudiced from the advert I knew I’d adore it. In a world saturated with reality TV and unpleasant talk shows, Desperate Housewives is a breath of unusual air. Creator Marc Cherry is a Godsend to women all over the world, and it was sure from the beginning that this present was going to become totally global. I mean I’ve heard stories about this exhibit getting upwards of 30 million viewers in America! That’s absolutely fantastic, and this DVD will sell millions upon its release, trust me.
So what makes Desperate Housewives so addictive? For me, there are a number of things. Firstly, the cast is impeccable. I remember watching this movie on cable ages ago as a kid and I enjoyed it.Now as an adult I esteem it: Spacious acting, mammoth dp work,anecdote is droll,sexy,dim and sassy. Special effects are not dreadful at all considering it’s a 1987 flick.
A queer man,apparently summoned by three frustrated women, shows up in a perfectly ordinary American town. He soon will change their lives for the better or the worse.Filled with magic, symbolism and detail, the movie catches our attention from the launch.

However, like another reviewer pointed out, the only dissimilarity between this DVD release and the one from 1997 is the case. The image and sound are not unpleasant but the movie hasn’t been restored at all.Some scratches and white speckles are explain throughout the film.
My advice is, if you enjoy the 1997 version of this DVD don’t end your money buying this reissue…Unless you like the unusual mask better.
Beautiful, intense, laughable and sinful panic film that mixes with the “toxic” humour of Jack Nicholson as the devil. Cher, Susan Surandon and Michelle Phiefer are favorable in their roles as three sexy women bored out of their mind by their lives, and wish for the perfect man to reach. When a exclusive and mysterious man by the name of Darrell Van Horne arrives in their Current England town, he bewitches the three friends and they reach together as one and become their opposites, as this uncommon man entangles them into a world of magic, witchcraft, sex and food. When the girls realize that this man may be the devil in disguise, they engage precaution and determine to rebel against him…that is until he finds out and their troubles collect even worse. This film is wonderfully scored by John Williams (Jaws, Hook) and his music suits the film amazingly. The ending to me, as others have said the opposite, is totally fit for this film and those babies are very cute! All the actors and actresses enthusiastic, especially Jack Nicholson and four lead girls, are absolutely fine in their roles. Overall, I’d have to disagree with those reviewers and critics who say this is a dreadful movie. It is not…it’s very riveting and amusing, with thrills and chills mixed in with it. Devine entertainment.

“Tinker Bell” has gotten a lot of online commentary, most of it negative, so I wasn’t really inflamed to stare my preview copy of this movie. I was VERY pleasantly surprised by what I saw. “Tinker Bell” is an delicious movie, perfect for children and even though-provoking for adults. Based upon what I’d read previously, I would not have gone to a theater to peer this; however, after watching it, I have this movie is estimable of both tremendous mask AND home entertainment viewing. Unfortunately, most of the banter has focused on the fact that Tinker Bell speaks. Personally, this is a minor point, as the animators have done a stout job of having Tinker Bell withhold her spunky nature and movements that we all know from “Peter Pan (2-Disc Platinum Edition) .”

The tale is fairly simple; Tinker Bell arrives in Pixie Hollow, where all the Fairies have talents. It is discovered that (no surprise) Tinker Bell’s talent is “tinkering” or fixing things. However, in Tink’s notion, this is not very animated. She’d rather be one of the Fairies who gets to retract Spring to “the mainland” (aka London) . As you can imagine, Tink’s early time at Pixie Hollow is filled with figuring out who she really is and that she is fair as notable as the other fairies who have more glamorous talents. The animation is fantastic; although it is obviously computer generated, it is apparent that the level of the animators doing it is such that they focus on camera movements, lighting, color, and emotional nuances rather than unprejudiced the basics. Unexcited, the characters do tranquil have somewhat of a doll-like/mechanical quality. The movement and facial emoting is a huge improvement over some of the early computer animation, but it does detached have a cramped device to go.

Saw this a week ago in Los Angeles at the El Capitan Theater. If you’re expecting a Pixar caliber fable – gaze elsewhere. If you’re looking for Pixar artistry, this doesn’t quite near those dizzying heights. But if you’re after quality Disney entertainment for the diminutive ones in your family (especially the female ones) you can’t really do worthy better. I have a four year conventional girl, and this was the first movie (of three that we’ve seen together on the astronomical veil) that she absolutely loved. She enjoyed Wall-E, but remarkable of it went over her head. Horton Hears a Who, was also savory and slightly too manic – but again, a lot of the wry humor and topical stuff she missed completely.
This movie had her enthralled from beginning to extinguish – and I have to say was far less than painful for me to see as well. Now this isn’t a ringing endorsement that could be afforded a Toy Record 1 or 2 or Cars (which are gigantic films for BOTH parent and child to bask in) but I have to say this film completely outclasses the Disney straight to DVD sequels that I’ve seen (dreck like Cinderella 3 and Alladin 2 – YUCK) and simply blows away the Barbie movies (which though excruciating to behold at times, do captivate my slight girl and are surprisingly pro-female) .
Tinkerbelle, ultimately, is not a film for the young and young at heart – as the tall Disney movies are; but it is leaps and bounds above the usual straight to DVD product that they have been shilling for the past decade.
The visuals are also light years beyond anything previously released in a straight to video format, and bear up to and even exceed the previous Disney CG features such as Chicken Tiny or Meet the Robinsons.
If you’ve got a 3 to 8 year broken-down minute girl – this is a must pick up. Young boys will like it too, there’s more than enough to support interest.

Unfortunately, I didn’t bag into Arrested Development until tedious in its second season. However, I was immediately curved. I could watch that it was a completely current kind of prove, and far from your average sitcom. It’s one of the few comedy series I’ve seen that is serialized, meaning that events of one episode carry over into the next episode. Also, it is probably the only comedy I know that, in addition to constantly referencing past jokes, it actually references FUTURE jokes! The note is done without a laugh track and is shot as a documentary, so the characters in the reveal sometimes react to the camera, and the camera sometimes reactions to situations in the prove.
The second season ended brilliantly with George Bluth, Sr. (Jeffry Tambor) fooling authorities into sharp and incarcerating his twin brother Oscar (also Tambor) . George’s children Michael (Jason Bateman), GOB (Will Arnet), Lindsay (Portia de Rossi), and Buster (Tony Hale) vowed not to visit their “father” in prison for a few months so that he couldn’t manipulate him. Meanwhile, Lindsay’s husband Tobias (David Disagreeable) left for Vegas with George Sr’s secretary Kitty (Judy Greer) to join the Blue Man Group. Also, cousins George Michael (Michael Cera) and Maeby (Alia Shawkat) shared their first passionate kiss. Season three starts off Michael going to prison to visit his “father” for the first time in 3 months to direct him that the Bluth Developing Company is bouncing assist. As Michael’s relationship with Rita develops, we learn that there may be more to her than she is saying, especially since her creepy “uncle” Trevor (Dave Thomas) follows the couple around everywhere.

After all three seasons of unsuccessful ratings, FOX finally killed the indicate. While I am very upset, I guess I have to hand it to FOX for sticking with the display for so long (from a ratings stand-point, it should have been killed after season 1) . They believed in its greatness enough to give it so many chances (oddly, they didn’t really advertise for it, which probably wound the ratings), and at least it went out aloof at the top of its game. There are level-headed rumors going around that Showtime is planning on picking it up, so we may yet examine some more of this big expose. If not though, at least the writers tied up all the loose ends and even hinted at a possible movie. If you’ve never seen Arrested Development, it is beyond worth checking out. It is my common comedy display of all time, surpassing even mainstream hits like The Simpsons and Seinfeld as well as the quirky and underrated Scrubs. You will not regret buying this dwelling.
DVDs were resplendent worthy invented so those few ARRESTED… fans could delight in their well-liked present over and over. What a smart series!!! Thank God I can ogle it again. In Season 3, Fox moved this reveal around so many times, I had inconvenience taping all of them on my old-school VCR (although I’m determined gratified I got the last 4 episodes, even though Fox buried them next to the opening ceremony of the Olympics and then didn’t advertise them) . BUT, you fans out there know how gigantic it is to have them on DVD.
Season 3 was stellar. I’ve read a small griping that the quality slipped a minute…okay, maybe from A+++ to A+. Detached dazzling darn excellent. The only anecdote line that tired me a minute bit was the stuff with Charlize Theron. She’s a decent actress, but I found her British accent unconvincing, and I plan the account line went on too long.
Other than that, I’ve got no complaints. The episode where George Michael ends up in a retro looking flying jetpack, and flies over a slight model home park while crashing into Tobias dressed in a monster costume was so amusing I wept. No joke. I did not judge it was possible to gain 30 seconds of TV so laughable. We watched it over and over.
The final four episodes, when the anecdote finally wrapped itself up fine well, include fantastic trips to Iraq, wonderful guest appearances (including a very nice turn from Justine Bateman) and crisp, crisp acting all around.
It’s almost futile to represent the present. If you haven’t seen it, you MUST perceive it, but you must open with Disc 1. My family and I have had ARRESTED marathons…when Season 1 came out, we watched in one day, and later the same with Season 2. I know season 3 will be the same. They coast by, and you can search for all the many minute jokes you missed the first time, mostly because you were too busy laughing at the other jokes. This is NOT an exaggeration…the expose is that packed with energy.
Yes, it is a shame to notice it go. I’ll miss all the incredibly talented cast and characters. But in some ways, it might be a blessing. I can only imagine the creative and logistical disaster that went into it…how could that be sustained? And even though Fox kinda gave up on it mid season…they DID promote it a lot before then. And magazines raved about it. And it cleaned up award after award. But people didn’t tune in…you can’t blame Fox for cutting its losses (although WHY “The War at Home” or “Stacked” lasted more than 2 episodes each I don’t know) . Remember, Fox has stuck by “Malcolm in the Middle” and “King of the Hill” for many years past when their ratings dropped. Overall, I can’t be too upset with them.
I’d obvious feel different, though, if ARRESTED wasn’t out on DVD!! This is a MUST Maintain if there ever was such a thing!! Gaze IT!!!!

Although puny known today, in her fill era author Fannie Hurst was among America’s most eminent authors, a writer who frequently challenged the place quo in both her life and her literature. Among her most celebrated works was the unique IMITATION OF LIFE, which first came to the mask starring Claudette Colbert and Louise Beavers in 1934. Today both the original and film would be considered somewhat racist–but at the time both were considered social shockers, dealing frankly with single mothers, rebellious daughters, and racial issues in a plot that few novels and fewer tranquil films of the era dared.
The first film version was as faithful to the recent as it dared be, telling the anecdote of two single mothers–one shadowy, one white–who join forces and hit the grand time when the white woman successfully markets the unlit woman’s pancake recipe. But the 1959 film version substituted pancake make-up for pancake batter: the white woman is an actress, and with her murky friend unhurried her she climbs the ladder to Broadway stardom. Director Douglas Sirk was reknowned for his ability with this sort of material, and although he did better films IMITATION OF LIFE is perhaps his most certain stylistic statement: gallons of gloss, more soap suds than a sink burly of dishes, and enough coarse melodrama to fuel a thousand 1950s schoolgirl dreams.
This time around our stars are Lana Turner and Juanita Moore, supported by Sandra Dee and Susan Kohner as the respective and rebellious daughters who earn their mothers lives a living hell, with Lana’s daughter Sandra falling in cherish with her mother’s beau and Juanita’s daughter Susan positive to defeat the racist society in which she lives by passing for white. All four actresses give it everything they’ve got, which means they all emote to the nth degree as they suffer through every emotional upheaval the screenwriters can devise.

Turner and Dee are essentially Turner and Dee. The true surprises here are Moore and Kohner. Saddled with a record that serene keeps the unlit woman in the kitchen while the white woman plays, Moore nonetheless gives an outstanding and ultimately heartbreaking performance, and Kohner matches her every bit of the design as the wayward daughter who makes one unpleasant choice after another in her refusal to knuckle under to a repressive society. It is a sizable pity that neither actress went on to equally high-profile roles and films, but the times were against them–as the very nature of the film’s yarn should effect abundantly positive.
The new fresh and film were actually advanced for their time, but by the time this version hit the veil the “white lady upstairs and the dusky lady downstairs” was hardly a rung up the ladder. Even in 1959 many denounced the film as perpetuating racial stereotypes and class-thinking, and by today’s standards it is alternately distasteful and absurd. But oddly enough, that fact doesn’t undercut the fantastic watchablity of the film. We may sneer at some of the values it presents, but it holds our attention all the design, and you’ll need at least three hankies for the film’s conclusion. If you are torn between purchasing the DVD or a VHS version, you should know that there is actually dinky dissimilarity between the two. The film has not been restored for DVD, and the lack of restoration is quite noticeable; moreover, the only bonus material on the DVD is the theatrical trailer. You might retract to go with a rude cost VHS until a really splendid DVD is released.
Imitation of Life is a movie that had perfect timing in the changing world of 1950’s Americana.
The oppression of upright segregation had taken its toll and a prime example of this burnout is Susan Kohner’s Sara Jane. This character had the perfect mother, but society told Sara Jane at a very young age that her mother would NEVER be trustworthy enough because of her sunless skin color. Sara Jane chafes at the limitations society places on her. She doesn’t want to be associated with maids, chauffeurs or going through wait on doors. She wants more, and as a `white woman’ she can net it. Many viewers who seek this film will be indignant at Sara Jane, however, one must remember that ‘black’ was not yet magnificent, and this is the pre-civil rights era.

Universal didn’t even care enough about the viewer to do this approved play-pause in a point where it would be seamless. This is a classic film that has been given anything but classic attention – extremely sloppy work from Universal.

Add this one to your collection, it will brighten any Christmas.

Unfortunately, I didn’t rep into Arrested Development until gradual in its second season. However, I was immediately bent. Meanwhile, Lindsay’s husband Tobias (David Unpleasant) left for Vegas with George Sr’s secretary Kitty (Judy Greer) to join the Blue Man Group. Also, cousins George Michael (Michael Cera) and Maeby (Alia Shawkat) shared their first passionate kiss. Season three starts off Michael going to prison to visit his “father” for the first time in 3 months to explain him that the Bluth Developing Company is bouncing benefit. While there, he realizes that it is really Oscar leisurely bars, so he takes his son George Michael on a hunt for the valid George Sr. Upon finding him, the government allows George Sr. to remain under house arrest so that he can reconnect with his wife Lucille (Jessica Walter) . George immediately regrets the decision. Meanwhile, GOB is unknowingly reunited with his illegitimate son Steve Holt (Justin Grant Wade), a classmate of George Michael and Maeby who began searching for his father in the previous year after GOB made fun of him for not having a father (IRONY!) . This starts a stout arc animated GOB and Steve who are the perfect duo until GOB realizes who Steve really is.

Soon, Michael starts dating a British woman named Rita (Charlize Theron) whom he meets while investigating his father’s claim that a British building company site him up to lift the drop for building some houses in Iraq. As Michael’s relationship with Rita develops, we learn that there may be more to her than she is saying, especially since her creepy “uncle” Trevor (Dave Thomas) follows the couple around everywhere.
As the season develops, viewers finally gather out the (most probable) cause of death for Michael’s slack wife Tracy, Tobias gets hair plugs, which nearly ruin him, J. Walter Weatherman (Steve Ryan) makes his triumphant return, and one of the greatest “gimmick” episodes of televions ever is created. The episode S.O.B.s, which stands for Achieve Our Bluths, is a parody of the various gimmicks that television shows exhaust to gain more ratings. There are numerous guest stars, most of whom are only on-screen for about a second, numerous references to the much-more-popular Desperate Housewives, a live segment, some 3D segments, and even a death! Featuring guest stars such as Assume Reinhold, William Hung (in probably his greatest spend ever), Justine Bateman (Jason’s sister), Richard Belzer (playing his Detective John Munch character), and Ron Howard, making his first on-screen appearance on the exhibit, we finally regain out the truth about George Sr’s crimes, and Annyong Bluth (Justin Lee) delivers one of the finest twists imaginable.

While I am very upset, I guess I have to hand it to FOX for sticking with the reveal for so long (from a ratings stand-point, it should have been killed after season 1) . They believed in its greatness enough to give it so many chances (oddly, they didn’t really advertise for it, which probably afflict the ratings), and at least it went out smooth at the top of its game. There are smooth rumors going around that Showtime is planning on picking it up, so we may yet recognize some more of this ample prove. If not though, at least the writers tied up all the loose ends and even hinted at a possible movie. If you’ve never seen Arrested Development, it is beyond worth checking out. It is my popular comedy explain of all time, surpassing even mainstream hits like The Simpsons and Seinfeld as well as the quirky and underrated Scrubs. You will not regret buying this dwelling.

The episode where George Michael ends up in a retro looking flying jetpack, and flies over a limited model home park while crashing into Tobias dressed in a monster costume was so comical I wept. No joke. I did not consider it was possible to get 30 seconds of TV so humorous. We watched it over and over.
The final four episodes, when the yarn finally wrapped itself up ravishing well, include fantastic trips to Iraq, amazing guest appearances (including a very nice turn from Justine Bateman) and crisp, crisp acting all around.
It’s almost futile to characterize the present. If you haven’t seen it, you MUST gaze it, but you must begin with Disc 1. My family and I have had ARRESTED marathons…when Season 1 came out, we watched in one day, and later the same with Season 2. I know season 3 will be the same. They wing by, and you can look all the many runt jokes you missed the first time, mostly because you were too busy laughing at the other jokes. This is NOT an exaggeration…the expose is that packed with energy.
Yes, it is a shame to contemplate it go. I’ll miss all the incredibly talented cast and characters. But in some ways, it might be a blessing. But people didn’t tune in…you can’t blame Fox for cutting its losses (although WHY “The War at Home” or “Stacked” lasted more than 2 episodes each I don’t know) . Remember, Fox has stuck by “Malcolm in the Middle” and “King of the Hill” for many years past when their ratings dropped. Overall, I can’t be too upset with them.
I’d clear feel different, though, if ARRESTED wasn’t out on DVD!! This is a MUST Occupy if there ever was such a thing!! Gaze IT!!!!

Disney’s The Lion King is finally available on DVD. Considered the cream of the chop of all the Disney racy features by many, it is definitely worth owning. I don’t assume I’ll go into the legend, which I’m definite most of you know. Chances are you’ve already seen the movie and are impartial waiting to enjoy it on a allotment of media that won’t rot like your VHS tape that probably fell apart by now. Even if Disney released a sub par release of this movie, you’d engage it.
Luckily, this is one of the best releases ever.
Video and Audio is supreme in this release. Especially vibrant is the 5.1 sound. Of all the older Disney releases, this one benefits the most I assume, with the grand music and sound effects indicate in this release. Hearing James Earl Jones as Mufasa blaring in thunderous 5.1 sound is quite unbelievable. Likewise the obliging music, such as the opening Circle of Life. Expose in this release is the new theatrical version as well as a version with current music/song. I actually didn’t care for the unusual song, but some may. The extras are quite numerous, contained on a second DVD and are mentioned in Amazon’s product details…I haven’t had the time to go through them yet, so I cannot comment on the extras. I unprejudiced watched the movie again. To be unbiased, the movie would be worth it as a single disc release so I’m tickled as it is.
Some consuming trivia for some of the people who are not aware of it is that The Lion King seemed to be heavily “influenced” by an former Japanese anime, Kimba The White Lion. Those wishing to leer the “similarities” would do well to check out that series as it has also been released on DVD. Carbon copying aside, I do appreciate the Lion King. It tranquil manages to grab you whether you are 4 years aged or 40. Two thumbs up!!

After the movie Exiguous Mermaid came out, Disney would invent 3 other enthralling masterpieces: Beauty & the Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King, that would change the procedure we looked at absorbing films, somthing unusual, something unbelievable.But of all these 4 vast exciting films, in my conception The Lion King was the greatest. The music was honest, resplendent, and Scar was probably the most Wrong Disney villain the was ever drawn on a fraction of paper.You hated him, but you almost liked him, because he was so broad. But probably the best section of the movie was Simba’s pal’s Pumbaa and Timon, the BEST Disney characters EVER!!! The scene where Timon was doing the hula, I concept I was going to die from laughing. Anybody from toddler to 10 year venerable to 60 year from boy to aged woman to teenager and so forth will, without a doubt, Adore this movie, everyone.
