From the sparkling opening song crooned by Vic Damone to the tearful last scene, this movie will have you alternately crying, laughing, and crying again. Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr are perfection as the two people who meet on a ship and drop in care for. Because they are each engaged to other people, they resolve to attach their feelings to the test of time. They agree to meet atop the Empire Place Building in six months if they feel the same. One shows up, one doesn’t because of tragic circumstances. When they accidentally meet months later at a ballet, it is awkward, yet the chemistry cannot be denied. A sentimental painting, an art dealer’s account of a lady in a wheelchair, and Cary Grant’s dramatic opening of a door lead to an ending that requires a chubby box of tissues but is one of Hollywood’s most memorable scenes. In addition, this movie is enhanced by a delighful choir of orphans, a grandmother with an idyllic villa, and Richard Denning in a righteous supporting role. Traditionally a movie to witness with the one you esteem on Valentine’s Day, this movie is top-notch alone, as a duo, or in a broad group. Not honest a chick flick, but a movie for everyone who has ever loved or dreamed of being in admire.

They say this movie is strickly for the Female population.

They say that no Man on earth could completely “Rep” this movie.

We don’t have actors like Cary Grant now adays to stick up for us Accurate men who can comprehend such a deep rich worship theme.

And what a shame too….the days of suave gentlemen are gone and replaced by the Brad Pitts…..in reality….I contain women want to discover more men become right and romantic gentlemen.

Well “An Affair to Remember” is one of those classics that belong to the tragic worship affair file….but with a glad ending.

Cary and Deberah Kerr are a perfect combination for this.

Like Charles Boyer and Irene Dunn before them, Grant and Kerr accept even more depth with general facial expressions and gestures, that remind me of Capra-esque qualities in their characters.
The scene where Grant is revisiting the home of his Grandmother who had fair passed away…returning to the scene in his mind where Cherish was recent and the sounds he hears of the afternoon when he had powerful to witness foward to…..it’s heartbreaking to want to touch something that once housed his affection…..we realise then that Grants adore for Kerr is as precise to us also.

One effect…one perfect reason why this movie appeals to me and why I am writing this review in hopes that more people will better understand this movie….
The Kill scene….To almost move away from Proper like, and taste the sadness and dissapointment, to kiss her hand and to say goodbye forever….and within moments….within its painful honesty ….realize that accurate admire does in fact prevail over obsticals is an overwhelming revelation.
“If it had to happen to one of us….why did it have to happen to you”? ……”If you can Paint, I can accelerate”!

Here’s a movie for dog lovers, the elderly, children of divorce, FOBs (Friends of Birds), customary Boy Scouts, people yearning for adventure, and anyone who has ever loved… and lost. Up is for everyone. It made me laugh out loud, and it made me bellow.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Up! Click Here

I idea it would be tough for Up to match the emotional power of Wall-E. The two Pixar films are similar in their lack of dialogue in the first act, which helps deepen the emotional impact. Up begins with Carl, a petrified young boy star-struck by a illustrious explorer; and kookie Ellie, who has a similar obsession. The two kids become expeditiously friends, and whine to one day proceed to Venezuela’s Paradise Falls. After getting married, they occupy their dream home and fix it up, hoping to beget it with children. Carl and Ellie’s life together from childhood through aged age is depicted, silently, with delicacy and subtlety. The first 15 minutes is like a celebration of a blissful marriage, and you truly feel Carl’s distress when he is left alone. He sits slumped in his chair, talking to the house as if it is the missing Ellie.

When developers terminate in on Carl’s beloved home, he decides to fulfill his promise to Ellie and proceed to Paradise Falls. A customary balloon vendor, Carl lifts his home with hundreds of bright balloons. Stowing away on the porch is Russell, a elephantine, courageous kid trying to net a scouting badge.

After landing in Paradise Falls, the old-fashioned man and the slight boy are joined by a golden retriever named Dug who can talk with his collar, and a big rare bird that bonds with Russell (he names her “Kevin”) . Dug is priceless: spot-on for every dog that ever lived, including an obsession with squirrels. Through a series of stop calls and adventures, the quartet vanquishes a villain, saving the day. And Russell earns his scouting badge.

In the process, Carl learns to let go of his gloomy mourning for Ellie, and live life again. When this happens, a truly magical thing happens. Before, Carl’s craggy face is gray and monochromatic. At the moment of his transformation, Carl’s face is awash in color, and he is surrounded by pretty hues. It reminded me of The Wizard of Oz, when Dorothy steps out of her gray world and into a candy-colored Munchkinland. Carl, too, enters a whole modern world.

Up is a deeply emotional film, fat of truth. It’s the year’s best film. Obtain another triumph for Pixar.

Someday, Pixar is going to do it — they’re going to execute an emotionally uninspiring, lackluster gripping movie. But in the meantime, they’re peaceful putting out scrumptious fascinating movies like “Up,” which defies the usual kid-movie conventions by starring a crotchety primitive man. It’s a charming, fun diminutive adventure memoir with flying dogs and balloon-powered houses, but underlying it is a bittersweet microscopic legend about loss and like.

As a child, the stupefied Carl Fredricksen bonded with the oddball Ellie over their shared care for of adventure, the explorer Charles Muntz, and Paradise Falls. They later married, depart into their “clubhouse” together, and lived a long, sadly childless life together. When Ellie died, she had never fulfilled her dream of going to Paradise Falls.

Now crotchety, alone and harassed by a trusty estate developer, Carl (Ed Asner) is finally ordered to a retirement home. But he isn’t going quietly — instead he attaches thousands of balloons to his house and floats it away toward South America. But he accidentally takes an keen, naive Wilderness Explorer (a thinly-veiled Boy Scout) named Russell (Jordan Nagai) along for the jog. Dreadful kid was impartial trying to accumulate an “assisting the elderly” badge.

And the jungle lunge to Paradise Falls turns out to have some surprising obstacles: a immense emulike bird that Russell names Kevin, a talking dog named Dug (”I am jumping on you, bird!”), and a mysterious extinct man who lives deep in the heart of the jungle. Turns out the stale guy is very familiar to Carl — and to win Kevin, he’s willing to sacrifice Carl and Russell.

Industry experts were babbling about how “Up” wouldn’t be as accepted as the previous Pixar movies, because the protagonist is basically a crusty stale coot. Well, shows what they know. It ended up becoming one of those classic movies that somehow appeals to all ages — while the humor and action appeal to children, adults can savor Carl’s admire for his lost wife, and his wearisome realization that he’s clinging to the past.

In fact, the first ten minutes are some of the most heart-tugging, quietly bittersweet scenes I’ve seen in a long time. Without a word, they expose all the ups and downs of a realistic marriage — joys, sorrows (Ellie’s inability to have children), growing dilapidated together, and finally loss.

But it’s not a depressing movie by any stretch — in fact, it’s like a childhood fantasy approach to life, complete with a floating house suspended on hundreds of balloons, and biplanes piloted by a talking dog army.. Plenty of mountainous dialogue (”Do you want to play a game? It’s called Study Who Can Go the Longest Without Saying Anything.” “Wintry! My mom loves that game!”) and an action-packed climax in an feeble airship.

Ed Asner is absolutely perfect as ubergrouch Carl — crotchety, grumpy, and positive to fulfill his wife’s lifelong dream, but gradually realizing he’s clinging to the past. Nagai is equally perfect as Carl’s polar opposite: a naive, chattery Scout who is positive to reunite Kevin with her baby chicks. And the utterly adorable Dug and the other dogs deserve special study. These creatures are utterly hilarious — they talk (”I hid under your porch because I like you”) and act the diagram dogs would if they talked. Three words: cone of shame.

The two-disc edition is going to have some very nice extras, but once again people with regular-def DVDs are going to score shafted because the Blu-ray edition will have a bunch of peculiar stuff. Grr. As for this one, there’s a digital copy, the director’s audio commentary, kinda-alternate-ending “The Many Endings of Muntz,” and the documentary “Adventure Is Out There” about the research for this movie.

There are also a pair of adorable captivating shorts. “Partly Cloudy” has a much-abused stork having to suppose potentially nasty baby creatures from a kind but clueless cloud. And “Dug’s Special Mission” is a sort of backstory for the adorable Dug, explaining what the heck he was doing before he met up with Carl and Russell.

“Up” continues Pixar’s running tally of gloriously enthralling, emotionally layered movies that the entire family can devour. With that, I have only one more thing to say… SQUIRREL!

My title is a cliche but in this case it’s the only phrase to exhaust. The version of this movie available now, with its extra disc plump of titanic bonus material, is an example of how to bring DVD format to its highest potential. First of course there’s the movie, and its director Sergio Leone. Every Leone movie I’ve seen–Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, The Noble Abominable and Terrifying, Once Upon a Time in America–is improbable, but this tops them all. Imagine the year 1969: what a astronomical time to be a western film lover. You had this, and Sam Peckinpah’s Wild Bunch in the same year. Extraordinary. Anyway, it’s impossible to list all the immense scenes, so I’ll stick with the first. If you savor the credit sequence you’ll cherish the movie; it’s not for everybody, however. So those credits, mostly soundless except for a windmill creaking, which Leone somehow makes spoiled, and one of the minimal details he uses to set authentic mood, are the litmus test. You’ll either care for the movie or disfavor it. The scene is built on a genius contradiction: it’s so tense that you want it to destroy, but it’s so beautifully done, so built on image and gesture and peep, that you also hope it never ends. The whole movie is that delightful. And the cast–wow. Everyone is at top make, but check out Henry Fonda as the leanest meanest bastard imaginable, but also someone you can’t avoid enjoying because it is the Spacious Mr. Fonda, with Leone getting maximum mileage out of cessation ups of Fonda’s ice-blue eyes, as unforgiving as a western sky, generally acting like the amiable stalwart figure he always plays, until he shoots minute kids and plump lackeys whom he doesn’t trust because they wear both suspenders and belts: and as Fonda says, how can you trust a man who can’t even trust his enjoy pants? As the heroine, Claudia Cardinale isn’t objective handsome she’s enjoyable, lust-us. And tough. Contemplate for the scene where she looks at herself in the mirror when she’s all alone in her house. whose previous residents, her family, have been killed by Fonda and his thugs. Charles Bronson–what an underrated actor. Uncertain yet entirely sympathetic here. He finds wit in his role, knows exactly what the original Leone’s up to and gets in sync with the vision. Jason Robards is incapable of giving a performance less than bright, and this is another highlight in the film. As Cheyenne he is silly and tough and shining, maybe the most complex performance in the movie. There’s so great more, too–the finest Ennio Morricone soundtrack, killer dialogue, unbelievable cinematography. This DVD is place together so well it’s even a pleasure to see at the menus–you’ll peruse what I mean. And all this for under FIFTEEN U.S. DOLLARS. What are you waiting for?

ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST is arguably Sergio Leone’s greatest Western, although Clint Eastwood’s three films with him remain among my favorites. Actually, Leone had hoped to have Eastwood in this film as Harmonica, but they were unable to work things out. As it is, I deem having Charles Bronson in the role is more effective. It was central to Eastwood’s persona in those three films that he be both a man with no name and with no past, but Harmonica’s character is entirely driven by the past and his need for revenge.

The beginning of this film are among my common in the history of film. Leone is arguably the most patient director in the history of film, and is willing to win fifteen minutes for something another director would be disapprove to grasp two. The two stout instances of Leone’s patience are the scene in the uncut version of ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA, where he allows a phone to ring thirty or forty times, and here at the beginning, where he takes fourteen minutes to exhibit three men waiting to men a direct.

As a whole, this is a far more ambitious project than Leone’s other Westerns. The place is a bit more record, the sweep of the film a bit grander, the relations between the characters more complex. Like most of his other films, it was filmed primarily in Europe, but unlike the others, a couple of scenes were actually shot in the United States, in particular in Monument Valley, the signature situation of John Ford, the director most associated with Westerns. He handles characters a bit differently in this than in his earlier films. For instance, Leone ties a musical theme to each of the major characters in the film, worthy as did Prokofiev with “Peter and the Wolf.”

Buy,Download, Or Stream Once Upon a Time in the West! Click Here

One aspect of the film that is simultaneously a strength and a weakness is the casting. Leone here works with a group of performers he had not worked with before. A couple of the performers are simply gleaming. Charles Bronson was gleaming, and his small, piercing blue eyes lend an eerie intensity to many of his camouflage moments. The casting of the equally blue-eyed Henry Fonda as a sadistic villain was a stroke of genius, and he manages to accomplish one of his most memorable roles. I have, however, misfortune with the other two major performers. Claudia Cardinale was certainly heavenly, but she simply does not bring as noteworthy to her role that many other actresses would have. Women do not feature prominently in Leone’s films, and that might be because he simply didn’t picture to women as well as men. At any rate, I deem the movie would have been greatly improved with someone else in her role. I had similar problems with Jason Robards. He impartial did not radiate the aura of pains that his character was supposed to, and the musical theme that was tied to his character sounded somewhat clownish. I found him to be the most poorly conceived and executed character in the film.

Despite these two cavils, this is an astounding movie, and is by far one of the most thoughtful, original Westerns ever made. The ending is perhaps the finest of his many Westerns, as well as one of the most surprising. It easily goes on any list of the greatest Westerns in the history of film.

Season 1 – Volume 1: He-man & the Masters of the Universe! The classic 80s cartoon FINALLY arrives with all its memorable characters, stories & fantasy, digitally remastered with extras! This plunge – designate the date! October 18th! Section 1 of 2, Season 1, this area is chock-a-block with wonderful extras. The hit cartoon adventure series brought to life the adventures of Prince Adam & his alter-ego, the much He-Man battling the deplorable Skeletor to protect the secrets of Castle Grayskull. Son of King Randor and Queen Marlena of Eternia, his faithful sidekick was the cowardly green & orange pet tiger, Cringer. “By the power of Grayskull!” Adam’s bellow in times of concern, together with his magical ‘Sword Of Power’ transformed them into the worthy He-Man and the ferocious tiger, Battle Cat. Aided by Man-At-Arms, Duncan (the slightly older scientist and Adam’s mentor), his adopted daughter Teela (Captain of the Guards and Prince Adam’s aide), the quirky & silly Orko (the puny floating magician) & Ram Man (kind hearted, but insensible “human battering ram”) with his winged ally Stratos, the team faced the forces of atrocious. The Sorceress of Castle Grayskull entrusted Prince Adam with the Sword of Power to defend the elegant kingdom of Eternia and Grayskull – said to enjoy the powers to rule the entire universe.

Heading the forces of darkness was Skeletor, the outrageous hooded skull face, residing on the dismal side of the planet in his much fortress, Snake Mountain. While the savage, dim-witted Beast Man, who possessed telepathic control over many animals was his fair hand; it was Evil-Lyn, the incredibly shrewd witch who played on Skeletor’s troop for sheer convenience, only to lift power for herself at the just moment. The cyborg-like Trap Jaw, aquatic warlord Mer-Man, and the three-eyed, pan-visioned Tri-Klops completed Skeletors army.

The display ran for two seasons, of 65 episodes each – hence the DVD release of each season has been split into 2 Volumes each, over the next 2 years. Initially, many of the stories establish our heroes against Skeletor, revolving around Castle Grayskull. As the series grew the adventures took them to many different locations and foes, often putting characters on both sides of the battle. Sometimes criticized for being too dim & violent for its time, this claim seems a tiny redundant in today’s age of children’s graphic animation. Particularly note-worthy is that each episode ended with one or two of the characters presenting a just from that episode’s fable – the consequences of thoughts & actions, which makes the series particularly relevant given the times we live in. For fans of the explain – its a expansive chance to relive those golden moments of childhood, & hopefully it will launch the door to a whole unique generation of fans, adults & kids. Fetch ready to feel the power of Grayskull!

Why this contaminated statement??? Originally cartoons were shown on Saturday morning only. He-Man was the first display to be syndicated through a network other than the enormous 3 (ABC, NBC and CBS) . What this meant was that an episode was shown every afternoon instead of impartial on Saturday mornings. Wow… 65 episodes were made per year instead of only 13 that were normally produced for a typical Saturday reveal and this made for an wonderful following. Who didn’t behold this demonstrate? Even parents would comment about it when they asked what I did for a living and I mentioned I was an animator on He-Man. This was one of the last shows done entirely in the U.S. as most of the animation work was being sent overseas by the early 80’s. Lou Scheimer was the founder of Filmation Studios and made a deny to hold the work in the U.S. and was honest to his word until it became impossible to compete with the wages being paid overseas and, sadly, the studio closed in ‘86 but not until after the successful runs of He-Man, She-Ra, Ghostbusters and the final series Bravestar. My memories working at Filmation are some of the best I have of my 25+ years in the animation industry. He-Man changed the blueprint cartoons would be viewed forever… this is a must have site!!!! Lets hope they choose to release some of the other memorable absorbing shows created at Filmation Studios.

Since I survey all the questions seem to danger the logistics of the spot, that is the main thing I will address in this review, since you would have to be a resident of another planet to not know the tale gradual the series “Friends”. Suffice it to say it is a classic droll treatment of what I have always called the “post-college adolescent phase” of life, which is roughly the ten years immediately following college graduation as you strike out on your gain and try to rep your spot in life. It is the time in life when you are likely to have the best health, the most freedom, the most disposable income if not necessarily the most total income, and the most fun if you are fortunate enough to have people to part it all with. This phase ends when you “resolve down” both career-wise and family-wise, and I always found Friends to track this time in life quite accurately and with both drama and immense humor.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Friends – The Complete Series Collection! Click Here

As for logistics, this collection fits in a sturdy red box that’s less than a foot long. There are 40 DVDs containing 236 episodes that can be found inside. The Friends site unprejudiced has two pieces of the box that comes together. Flipping the top up exposes the guts of the position consisting of 6 books, with one for each Friend. Thus there are only 6 books to enjoy the 10 seasons. Each book has a characterize of the Friend, a number (1-6), and the episodes you can win in each case. The books flip initiate from the top, and each disc has its acquire pouch in the double-sided pages. Every disc has a different photo of the Friend, and they’re all inserted into the pouches so that the photo is visible as you flip through the book. The disc number and episode numbers are also visible. The contents of the discs are the same as the previous sets, but they have unusual artwork.

Besides the packaging, there’s fair one thing to label for this release, that being the episode guide booklet. This 60 page booklet lists every episode with its synopsis and the disc you can glean it on. Of course, the bonus material is mentioned along with the disc it can be found on, and the bonus features include 25 documentaries. You’ll also bag the new treatment for the series written by David Crane and Marta Kauffman. The booklet, which is as wide as the box, can be found leisurely the DVD books.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Friends – The Complete Series Collection! Click Here

As for mask format, it’s stout veil, which is what Friends was filmed in. The tubby shroud ratio is 4:3, which is the same as 1.33:1. You can portray in wide cover and crop off parts of the frame to form it fit a musty 4:3 TV, which is what is done with stout cover editions of movies. However, you can’t add stuff to a frame that was recorded in 4:3 and beget it widescreen.

There’s very itsy-bitsy of value here for someone who already has the season 1-10 boxes, and the book with the episode information is unbiased an upgraded version of the booklets that near with the season sets. If you don’t already fill the 10 seasons then this is an easy intention to take the present since it is a lot cheaper than buying each station individually. It’s also nicer than the box spot released last year, which was the existing 10 seasons in a mountainous box. If you settle to replace your existing sets then you’ll be overjoyed to know the location takes up exactly the same amount of shelf set.

I treasure this present but I am returning this box status and decided to order the individual seasons separately for the following reasons:

1) Many of the DVDs are disagreeable and skip even when they are not physically scratched. I tested this with multiple DVD players which have never given me problems before. If you check other reviews this quality control converse is handsome popular with the DVDs from this box place. From what I can boom the quality control on the fresh season sets is distinguished better.

2) Disc 28 was missing and I got two copies of Disc 29 instead.

3) The corner of the collector’s box was broken/damaged when i received it.

4) The discs are spread out through 6 scratch-prone cardboard-like sleeves for each character instead of by Season. Cute, but i don’t want to have to inaugurate up a damn episode guide and watch up the episode number to figure out which season i’m about to glimpse, while worrying about scratching my DVDs when taking them in and out of the sleeves.
