Only because Mary Poppins was released during the beginning of America’s second wave of feminism was its `sister suffragettes’ number fascinating during that film.

Yet the 1964 snippet of British suffrage tactics completely and convieniently overlooked their radical strategies in favor of bouncy and pert cheerleading which could otherwise found at a high school game. While acknowledging the need for women’s rights, that same film also presented the women as pampered housewives who were really too busy for their families.

Thank goodness this HBO movie is noteworthy more realistic about the American-British radical suffrage struggle.

Alice Paul (Hillary Swank) and company may be conventionally handsome, but they are also not troubled to reveal how openly ticked off they are about being held to laws they cannot attend obtain.

Much to the chagrin of the older `respectable’ American suffragists (who want to wait for men to give them the vote), the British experience encourages question for tubby sociopolitical equality. When they are jailed for their convictions, the women refuse to eat. By our new expectations, the prison response (shown in graphic detail) is especially brutal.

For all of their progressive politics, Paul and company downplay speed ironically in a time when such justice is most needed. Paul personally welcomes help of Delta Sigma Theta and other African American organizations, but worries their public presence will either undo or prevent the distinguished southern help considerable to winning suffrage. It is not easy to admit that our movement has an execrable past, but it is distinguished to ensuring a socially impartial future for all members. This conciousness is a marked improvement from days when even feminists themselves assumed their experiences applied for all women and run was a separate shriek.

Another plus, this same movie recognizes men have always supported the suffrage movement not because they wanted a partner, already had one, or were lobbied until they had no other public choice—but out of similar social justice disaster.

Again, earlier suffrage depictions (as with the larger feminist movement) erroneously claimed that the movement was all women. This more just historical portray may convince male viewers they have a similar obligation to work for the continuation of original women’s equality. Other men will ask their motives and some women will quiz their sincerity. But equality is really everybody’s fight.

Attending a college, which was founded by many suffragists, the emphasis on women college graduates (then a statistical minority) was especially sobering. Despite our original knowledge of women’s studies and gender theory, I don’t reflect my generation (including myself) appreciates how fortunate we are when we would have been jeered at in earlier generations for receiving a college degree. After seeing this movie, I walked across my hold campus trying to imagine some of the local townspeople (opposed to the understanding of women receiving a college education in their town) threatening us on a advance constant basis.

Precisely because Paul’s Equal Rights Amendment was not ratified by the required states by the 1982 deadline, the film ends on a wretched notice. Paul’s work remains half-finished and we have apt obligation to ensure the ERA becomes piece of the constitution.

Encouraging viewers to complete the revolution, the movie turns armchair loungers into activists.

As a expansive fan of historical films, I always secure nervous before seeing a movie whose subject is one that I am passionate about. Therefore I was quite terrorized about this movie.

Turns out, it was the best pull off of all suffrace films. Touching and suitable, with the upright amount of heart, humour, and intelligence, this movie made for an delectable and educating experience. It reminded me why I am joyful to be a woman.

This is a grand series and the Season DVD’s are very worth it. To some people the display may seem a limited bit unbelieveable. Examples(Mother becomes addicted to drugs and some of the crazy things that the kids collect into.) I won’t go into further detail, so that I won’t spoil things too terrible. It is a TV demonstrate though! So some of the things are going to be un-real, but it really is a tremendous prove. Spacious for anyone to notice and especially for families. I would recommend this prove to anyone!

I assume House Of Payne 4 was the best of all. Large Stories and more humour and has not lost its message.

I’m editing my review. In my case, I’m an obsessive fan of these movies, and maybe nothing would’ve met my expectations. If you haven’t seen these films, recall this DVD IMMEDIATELY! You will not be sorry, and more than likely you’ll pick up my criticisms baseless and nit-picky.

I wrote the current after skipping around the discs and being extremely disappointed by what I saw. Since then, I’ve sat down and watched both movies on this disc and my thought has changed somewhat. The pickle was my expectations, not the exact product.

On the whole, these films DO explore amazing when compared to every other DVD release available (MGM and the R2 Pathe discs from France) . However, they don’t leer nearly as qualified as I fill possible. I consider this film deserves the royal treatment, an all modern, high definition transfer by seriously skilled people.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Jean De Florette / Manon of the Spring! Click Here

Unfortunately, while the resolution is beneficial, it is anamorphic, and appears to be a straight NTSC transfer (and not a PAL-to-NTSC conversion as I previously idea), there is objective something not apt. The colors are contrivance too hot when compared to the true film, and there unprejudiced seems to be a layer of fuzz or blur over the whole thing that is not reveal on the ample veil.

I give it 5 stars because the films are unbelievable. The two greatest foreign films I’ve ever seen. I’ve watched them each about 15 times, and never grow tired of them. I sparkling great learned French watching these movies.

However, this DVD seriously lacks. This movie is in dire need of a fresh and improved subtitle translation. While the subtitles produce sense on the whole, I’ve studied the French script, and there is a vast deal missing in the translation.

There are no special features.

For YEARS, these films have been out of print in America, the originals going for upwards of $50 a part on ebay. Clearly someone was paying attention and realized there’s enough people who be pleased this movie to construct it available again. But slapping this space together, while allowing original viewers the opportunity to leer the films, is an insult to fans who’ve waited a LOOOONG time for a qualified American release. But a cheap release is better than none at all.

Caveat: Perhaps if enough people take this DVD, MGM will wake up and release a great special edition. For $14, it’s a stout deal for two masterpieces, but we could’ve done better than this.

Two large steps forward, and one 1/2 step wait on. Contrary to the impression from the disc specs on the help of the jacket, the recent MGM/Fox double feature disc DOES show the films 16:9 enhanced. They are also, surprisingly a great step up from the earlier R2 PAL discs, which for the longest time were the only plan to satisfyingly scrutinize these on a widescreen prove or front projector.

Unfortunately they quiet aren’t a home urge. The report in general consistently looks a tiny too ‘hot’ – disagreement is jacked up which blows out the details in the highlights in many shots- also there is an at times over bearing yellow tint to the image in the countryside exteriors. Some EE and ringing are also visible in a few shots. Shapely detail on the other hand is distinguished improved over the PAL disc and artifacts related to compression are a monumental improvment over the first MGM release.

These should have been color timed a bit cooler- but on the whole, this novel release easily represents the most watchable versions of these two classics yet (at least, not counting the widescreen Image laserdisc site that is now long out of print) .

Its a shame that this release is so terminate, and yet smooth misses the label. At least this one will suffice for a few years until the film are (hopefully) properly presented on one or both of the High Def formats.

The films themselves earn 5 stars easy- the original disc gets 3.5 for PQ and AQ.

If you have never seen this film, you will approach to it and collect it very familiar. That’s because Rashomon has become allotment of the world’s consciousness & lexicon. It’s sage of an action interesting several participants, each with their bear differing version of the truth, has been elaborated and riffed-on by many others since it appeared on the world’s stage in the 50’s.

So, it is an weak movie, often imitated. And yet, I found it modern and enthralling and well worth a gape. As Robert Altman says on the DVD extras, many of the camera techniques, particularly shooting directly at the sun and allowing lens flare, were taboo-breaking and radically novel when this film appeared. Now, that is save in as a joke in Shrek.

So you approach to Rashomon not to be overwhelmed with its “newness” and the refreshing change of first encountering Japanese cinema and acting styles. No, you arrive to Rashomon as to an extinct master, to devour its lasting impression of the universality of human foibles and passions and the illusory nature of truth.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Rashomon – Criterion Collection! Click Here

A rape and kill have occured in a woods. We hear and scrutinize different versions of the same encounter. Who is telling the truth? Is there an absolute unprejudiced truth, or does every teller of the narrative inherently only drawl the truth as he sees it? And if everyone is a “liar” and there is no absolute truth, what is the point of anything?

Don’t let the heavy questions mislead you. Rashomon moves fast, fluidly and gracefully, telling its narrative with economy and, to me, humor. Considerable is made of the sad philosophy underneath the theme, but I earn grand sardonic humor in the film. One example, the fight between the thief & the man as related by the woodcutter…it is messy and unheroic, sweaty, breathless and awkward and the antithesis of the stylized balletic sword fights found in, even Kurosawa’s, samurai movies.

In the kill, as familiar and noteworthy copied as Rashomon has been, it is detached like no other film. It is unusual, and the result of a master filmaker’s vision, unified and elegant and unforgettable.

RASHOMON, Kurosawa’s classic existential masterpiece, is Japan’s CITIZEN KANE. It offers some rather profound insights on the human condition while also being a technical and artistic tour de force. Like KANE, RASHOMON also uses a nonlinear, fragmented story to reveal the multiplicity and unfathomability of human nature. With an enthralling destroy mystery as its basis, RASHOMON should please film enthusiasts and novices alike.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Rashomon – Criterion Collection! Click Here

The restored video transfer on this Criterion DVD edition makes the film contemplate as superior as fresh. Blemishes that worn to be on older video releases have been digitally cleaned up. Sharpness and incompatibility, while not spectacularly profitable, are beneficial (to provide a point of reference, it looks considerable cleaner than Criterion’s SEVEN SAMURAI DVD) . The new Japanese mono soundtrack is rather hissy, however. A cleaner English dub track is included, but utter acting is sub-par (actually, in my idea, terrible; in one instance, it is even out of synch with the action) .

The analytical audio commentary by Donald Richie is well-rounded, covering the themes, photography, acting, editing, and music of the film. The booklet includes English tranlations of the two short stories that inspired the film, and an excerpt from Kurosawa’s autobiography that pertains to RASHOMON. In a 16-minute excerpt from a Japanese documentary about the film’s cinematographer, various camera techniques primitive in the film are revealed.

This DVD is encoded for Area 1 only. For those who hold track of things like this, Criterion has only made a handful of Place 1 DVDs, which include ARMAGEDDON, BRIEF ENCOUNTER, CHASING AMY, THE DISCREET CHARM OF THE BOURGEOISIE, GIMME SHELTER, THE HIDDEN FORTRESS, HIGH AND Coarse, KWAIDAN, Celebrated, THE PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, RASHOMON, THE ROCK, SAMURAI I, II, and III, SANJURO, SEVEN SAMURAI (second printing), THE SHOP ON MAIN STREET, THE VANISHING, and YOJIMBO.

Weird white goop is discovered in an Alaskan mining facility bubbling out of the ground, a worker decides to taste it as it is a very sweet and enjoyable tasting thing. It tastes sooo capable that it is being now sold as a accepted desert product called ” The Stuff” that has outsold Ice Cream and Cookie companies. However the food industries have hired an industrial scrutinize named “Mo” ( Played by Michael Morarity) and a cookie king named ” Chocolate Chip Charlie” ( Garret Morris) with a kid named ” Jason” eye that the approved desert is actually an living deadly alien organism that takes over it’s consumer’s mind and body then transforms them into sparkling fast-moving zombies. They must close the Stuff or else the world is in pain from the tasty but deadly resistance of ” The Stuff”.

An appealing but rather gripping if goofy horror/sci-fi parody from Larry Cohen ( director of ” Q: The Winged Serpent” and “It’s Alive!”) that has an inspiring satire of commercialism interesting people and parodies 50’s sci-fi/horror movies. The special effects especially on the Stuff are done by David Allen, some of the acting is kind of dilapidated and there is cameos by Abe Vigoda and Tammy Grimes ( whom did Molly on the 1982 cult curious movie The Last Unicorn) .

The DVD is a distinct transfer with a few flaws on a couple of scenes, there is a couple of splendid extras like audio commentary by the director and a trailer of the film.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Stuff! Click Here

I highly recommend this movie if you like a healthy fun dose of satire and fear with Sci-fi thrown into it.

Also recommended: “Lifeforce”, ” Fight Club”, ” Shaun of the Humdrum”, “Listless Alive”, ” The Return of the Living Listless Trilogy”, “Day of the Tiresome”, ” Attack of the Killer Tomatoes”, “Return of the Killer Tomatoes”, ” The Blob ( Both versions) “, ” The Hidden”, “Invasion of the Body Snatchers”, ” The Deadly Spawn”, ” Riki-Oh The Account of Ricky”, ” Re-Animator”, ” The Toxic Avenger”, ” Spoiled Humdrum 2: Dumb By Dawn”, “An American Werewolf in London”, ” Killer Klowns from Outer State”, ” Terrible Taste”, ” Q: The Winged Serpent”, ” 28 Days Later…”, ” Hell of the Living Boring”, ” Dawn of the Uninteresting ( 2004 remake) “, ” House of the Tiresome”, “Resident Harmful 1 & 2″ and ” Fist of the North Star” (Engaging version) .

As a rather unsubtle allegory of mindless consumerism The Stuff works quite well. It’d be easy to dismiss it as an 80’s shlockfest but there is some brains leisurely it and Larry Cohen (the very man who wrote Maniac Cop, Phone Booth and Cellular) keeps the film fun until the last frame.

It’s a wintry epic too. A unique goo oozes out of the ground in a quarry and it tastes suitable. So noble in fact that within days it’s being sold in mass, mass, incredibly mass quantities to the whole country. People are having it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, desert and supper. They feed it to their pets and establish it in their coffee. Enough is not enough as the slogan goes.

Rival candy companies don’t like the watch of this and hire a very peaceful industrial behold, David `Mo’ Rutherford, to fetch out exactly what it is. What he finds is rather nefarious indeed. And with the succor of a commercial maker, a runaway kid and a gung-ho militia leader he tries to effect a finish to The Stuff.

My main spot is that the origins off The Stuff and its `intentions’ are never fully revealed or exploited. It ends without a pleasurable explanation which is quite a shame considering how worthy potential is wasted. There are stories that Larry Cohen carve 30 minutes of erm…stuff from the movie and perhaps there’s more to the missing scenes. But for what it is, The Stuff, is a fun 90-minute movie that will not linger in your memory too long after seeing it.

Anchor Bay’s DVD of The Stuff presents the film in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen. The narrate is generally elegant and dirt free but has some exertion in a few scenes. The Mono sound is adequate and tolerable but the ADR is too apparent in the early scenes and there are brief drop-outs towards the extinguish. A commentary by Larry Cohen is also included.

For a expose that airs on an HD only network I’m confused as to why the DVD doesn’t even abet wide shroud format. I was really looking forward to purchasing this, but now I may honest hang onto the episodes saved to my tivo.

I completely agree with the comment from Oxford, OH….Three Sheets is a HD note, but why is the network so cheap as to only beget the DVD in standard format? I was really furious when I got this as a gift (with Season 2 on the scheme), but now I am asking myself why I honest didn’t DVR the marathon on St. Patty’s Day to be able to sight it in HD. Fortunately nothing distinguished changes in the third season of “Procure Radiant,” with Don Adams as the not-so-bright peer with an endless arsenal of exclusive devices and curious sayings, who tirelessly works to support the free world free. It’s a collected, polished high-tail through a string of eccentric crises, with lots of slapstick, movie homages, and the occasional game of lethal ping-pong.

It starts off with a bang when everyone at Control is at risk when KAOS’s League of Imposters manages to infiltrate their organization — meaning that there are doppelgangers of everyone, including Max himself (”Looks like he’s got a dreadful case of tight underwear”) . Now he has to point to his apt identity… unbiased in time to be send to Central America to obtain a captured president. And pose as a flamenco dancer.

And the stalwart Gleaming is confronted by many recent dangers — a ghostly informant, budget cutbacks, a sonic voice weapon, an olive transmitter swallowed by a country singer, a superpowered robot designed to raze Hymie, the malevolent Dr. Yes, infiltrating a biker gang, poisoning by a KAOS siren, the mysterious Dr. T, being framed by a one-handed man, the loss of an incriminating Limited Shadowy Book, a deadly amusement park, kamikaze pigeons, a sabotaged track competition, and the noxious third look network ACB.

“Come By Colorful Season Three” has everything you’d want in a see spoof — lots of homages to movies (”The Maltese Falcon,” “DOA,” “Dr No”) and television (”The Avengers,” “The Fugitive”), absurd plots against world peace (KAOS hippies compelling people to slay through poor folk-rock!), and extremely extraordinary methods of stopping them. The best thing about the third season is simply that it doesn’t change a thing about itself.

Basically the third season is about on even keel with the one that precedes it — lots of slapsticky action (including Max trying to sheath a sword), peculiar problems and bizarre gadgets. And it’s cleverly written as well (”The world is going to be destroyed in another 45 minutes, you schtupid! This is no time to conclude for traffic lights!”), especially with some fun pokes at US government (”We’re the only secret organization in the world that nobody ever heard of”) .

Don Adams is the heart of the series, with his quirky face, nasal deny, weird body language and confident catchphrases (”And loving it!”) — he gets to do some fun stuff in Season Three, such as impersonate a king (”Ah yes… I remember the well”), play Pygmalian to a mousy children’s author, as well as briefly getting to be Chief of Control. He also turns out to be the worst roommate in the history of the world.

Barbara Feldon plays a astounding straight woman to Max’s goofiness, but we do gather to spy how she feels about Max when she chooses to leave CONTROL and marry someone else. Edward Platt shines as the long-suffering Chief, who has to deal with Max’s constant idiocy. And Bernie Kopell and King Sullen are smart as Max’s archnemesis and his slow sidekick, especially when they have to team up with Max to effect the world (”I may be a killer but I am not a peeping Tom!”) .

The third season of “Derive Shining” stays brilliant by not really changing anything, but continuing with the whacked-out plots against world peace, and the dusky scrutinize who is our only hope. I asked you not to speak me that!

Its called silly. More laughter than you can handle and

a helpful laugh is superior for the soul. Honest contemplate how great

you will feel when you derive yourself laughing until it hurts.

That is what Pick Up Sparkling is all about, laughs. Enormous DVD and fine

The age of the Hollywood western had its apex in the middle of the 20th century, then with the change of current society in the 1960’s, the western genre lost its allure and Hollywood abandoned westerns for other fare. Thanks to Ted Turner and his care for for American Western film making, the long lost western has been reborn in a expansive diagram. Tom Selleck continues to sign audiences as a fair western hero in the tradition of John Wayne. Selleck is more than adequate for the share, enormous in body and huge in acting skill. He takes the allotment of Paul Cable, and turns his character into someone we can hold, like, and respect.

Cable comes benefit from the Civil War months before its official extinguish. He is tired of war and killing, and wants to return home to raise cattle in his home station of Arizona. In trying to sprint his wartime experiences, Cable runs into more pains at home. He finds his wife terribly embittered by his absence, and his home farm is now accelerate by mature union soldiers who are naturally hostile to a returning Confederate soldier. Cable must not only fight to catch his farm, but he must also try to rekindle the admire that has been lost in his marriage.

The memoir by Elmore Leonard is a solid one and very believable. There are no tedious or plain scenes, the narrate grabs you and holds you throughout. Selleck is terrific as Paul Cable, fighting for his family, his woman, and his life. Selleck once again establishes himself as a solid western actor in the mould of John Wayne. He is every man’s western hero. Selleck carries the describe on his tremendous shoulders with ease. He is supported with a pretty ensemble cast, including Suzy Amis as his embittered gritty wife, and Haley Joel Osment (of “The Sixth Sense” fame) in a minor role as Selleck’s son. Amis portrays a western pioneering woman in perhaps one of the most realistic role ever portrayed. Too many times we ogle western wonmen portrayed as prissy and prim, dressed in their long skirts and blouses without a scuff or tag of western sand or dirt. Amis’ portrayal as Mrs. Cable breaks the mould; we peek her with dirt and dust on her face, with sweat dripping in lines across her face, and with a surprising ability to contain her possess with wagon reins in her hands, or for that matter, a rifle. I personally welcome this portrayal of western women, as it is undoubtedly more realistic than the western wife sitting glorious in her muti-layered petticoats. David and Keith Cariidine are gorgeous antagonists in the fight for the family farm. Harry Carey Jr. plays a shrimp role as Selleck’s father-in-law.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Last Stand At Saber River! Click Here

As a collector of handsome western films, I intend to sustain “Last Stand at Saber River”, as it is an valid western film in the tradition of the spacious Hollywood westerns; it’s not an sage, but it is heavenly film-making and will please those craving for a elegant western drama. I recommend it.

James “Konedog” Koenig

Tom Selleck does an honorable job as a disillusioned civil war obsolete positive to bring his family support together on their enjoy land after he is wounded in the war. This is a western as westerns were meant to be made, not the Young Guns type of violence laden shootfest. If you are Western fan that enjoyed Alan Ladd, Jimmy Stewart, Glenn Ford, Gary Cooper or John Wayne, this is a Western you will appreciate.

Well, “Noirist”, I understand your frustration with Amazon for not listing the contents of this collection. These public domain film noirs have been released countless times already, but never have so many been offered for such a little imprint. Retain in mind that they ARE public domain movies, so don’t question perfection in represent or sound quality, although on this collection they’re offered in 5.1 Surround Sound (which is nice) .

Buy,Download, Or Stream Classic Film Noir 9 Movie Pack! Click Here

Disc 1 on this 3-disc collection contains “Too Tedious For Tears”, “The Man Who Cheated Himself”, and “The Stranger”.

Bonus features on this disc are a photo gallery & vintage film noir poster gallery (I Savor those classic posters!) . I’m a minute puzzled by the various “Casablanca” posters being included in the film noir poster gallery, though!

“Too Gradual For Tears” (1949) stars Lizabeth Scott (one of the best femme fatales!) & Dan Duryea & is a tall memoir of greed and slay.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Classic Film Noir 9 Movie Pack! Click Here

“The Man Who Cheated Himself” (1950) stars Lee J.Cobb & Jane Wyatt and is a forgettable low-budget crime drama. The report and sound quality in this movie were simply poor.

“The Stranger” (1946) stars Orson Welles (in a wonderfully nefarious role!), Loretta Young, and Edward G. Robinson (in a rare trustworthy guy role) & is truly a vast classic.

Disc 2 contains “The Odd Cherish of Martha Ivers”, “The Hitch-Hiker”, and “Quicksand”. Included on this disc is a featurette “About Film Noir” (which isn’t very impressive) .

“The Curious Treasure of Martha Ivers” (1946) is one of my celebrated noirs of all time, and stars Barbara Stanwyck (in an unforgettable femme fatale role!), Van Heflin, Kirk Douglas (in his debut, I enjoy), and Lizabeth Scott. It’s about a woman with a unnerved past that eventually catches up with her.

“The Hitch-Hiker” (1952) is directed by the gigantic Ida Lupino and stars Edmund O’Brien, Frank Lovejoy, and William Talman. It’s a suspenseful anecdote of a psychotic hitchhiker who holds two men captive.

“Quicksand” (1950) stars baby-faced Mickey Rooney, Jeanne Cagney, and Peter Lorre (who gets too petite cloak time) and is an adverage but delicious epic of a capable guy who’s led astray by a femme fatale.

Disc 3 contains “Detour”, “The Scar”, and “D.O.A.”. There are also a few theatrical trailers on this disc.

“Detour” (1945) stars Tom Neal & Ann Savage and represents ultra low-budget noir at its best! It’s yet another sage of a man who’s downfall is brought on by a deadly woman. By the plot, I’ve compared this with my Alpha dvd of “Detour” and this IS a better restored version.

“The Scar” A.K.A. “Hollow Triumph” (1948) stars Paul Henreid (one of the stars of 1942’s “Casablanca”) and Joan Bennett, and is a depressing anecdote of a mobster on the accelerate who finds out (the hard design) that changing identity was not a apt flee!

“D.O.A.” (1949) is one of the best examples of ultra low-budget film noir, and stars Edmond O’Brien, Pamela Britton, and Luther Adler. A man is poisoned and tries to solves his believe kill before he dies!

If you haven’t already bought these movies on other dvd editions, this is the best deal and I highly recommend it to all fans of classic film noir.

Other reviews will smash these DVDs down film-by-film, and no reviewer can honestly compete with the gorgeous job done bt ace reviewer Forehand in that regard. What I want to sign upon you is that despite these films’ public domain space, relative obscurity, and (almost always) B-movie budgets you could not ask for a better intention to regain 13 hours’ worth of gritty film noir entertainment. For, unlike most genres, film noir was a style that didn’t need expensive sets, costumes, music, or special effects. It’s the writing and the direction that compose film noir work – and the 9 films contained on these DVDs have estimable writing and direction. You may not recognise the names of many of the lead actors, but you will remember all nine of these movies upon seeing them.

Audio and video quality are acceptable. These are most likely TV prints intended for your local “Slow Behind Movie” and as such, own scratches and a sometimes harsh mono soundtrack. St. Clair Entertainment are more impartial about this than are other public domain providers. There are useful chapter stops in all the movies, and each DVD features a slightly different, customized menu. As a bonus (and bonuses on public domain discs like these are rare), we have a Film Noir Poster Gallery, a collection of movie trailers, and a mini-documentary overview of the genre. The only debit is a lack of subtitles. I imagine many of the people buying this DVD dwelling may be older, and having subtitles is a courtesy that is always welcome.

If these films were restored, and contained subtitles, this would be a 5-star station and could easily narrate three times the designate it’s getting now. As it is, “Classic Film Noir” is an improbable bargain. Anyone involved in testy crime melodrama would be well-advised to eye out this collection.
