I was not interested at first to eye this movie, but was suprised that it actually was heavenly silly. Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon play a couple of typical american couple that tries to cover their families from eachother…then the holidays hit. Not quite an “Venerable School” or “Wedding Crashers”, but this should win a few capable chuckles for anybody.

Brad (Vaughn) and Kate (Witherspoon) are heading to Figi for Christmas so they do not have to consume time with their family. A dense fogbank grounds all flights out of San Francisco and destroys their plans. A local television characterize from the airport seals their fate, and soon they are off to study their families – Brad’s divorced mom and dad and Kate’s divorced mom and dad. Brad’s dad (Duvall) and brothers (Favreau and McGraw) are hell on Brad, but Kate finds amusement in his discomfort. Kate’s mom (Steenburgen) is a bit of a cougar, making things depressed for everyone. By the time they have survived Brad’s mom (Spacek), their relationship is hanging by a thread. Kate’s dad is not so terrible, but by then it may impartial be too slow.

“Four Christmases” is a elegant amusing holiday film. Vaughn and Witherspoon are two likeable, laughable leads. A star-studded supporting cast keeps the humor coming as well. The humor is of the squirmy, miserable kind. You feel unpleasant for these two as they are forced to deal with their families. This is an spellbinding film for fans of holiday movies. If you are in the mood for something Christmassy, check it out.

Sequels conventional to be about remaking the same film again and again (remember “Friday The 13th” or “Nightmare on Elm Street”? ) with minor variations so the audience gets their fix. John Carpenter, Kurt Russell and Debra Hill inverted the paradigmn reprising the best elements from “Sprint from Current York” while introducing a heavy dose of satire aimed squarely at the Honest Majority and groups of that nature. While not as memorable as that film, “Run from L. A.” takes perfect aim at liberal Hollywood, the conservative religious legal, sequels and skewers them all boring on most of the time.

Snake Plissken is help in inconvenience. Captured again he’s set into the service of national security against his will. It seems a arrangement that can detonate orbital nuclear devices has been stolen by the President’s daughter and delivered into the hands of a self styled rebel leader named Cuervo Jones (George Corraface) in what’s left of Southern California. Cuervo plans on using this arrangement against the United States. Plissken is sent to the island of Los Angeles to retreive the blueprint. Yes, folks the Great ONE finally hit and a substantial piece of the Los Angeles basin dropped into the ocean like a ten ton weight while the remainder floats off the flit of the United States making the perfect set to deport people who don’t have high suitable fiber or generally tick off the President for life (Cliff Robertson in a curved performance) . Infected by a deadly designer virus that makes Ebola seem like the flu, Snake has no choice but to steal the job of retrieving. Malloy (Stacy Keach stepping in for the leisurely Lee Van Cleef) and Brazen (the gorgeous Michelle Forbes slow of “Star Trek: The Next Generation”, “Homicide: Life on the Streets” and the second season of “24″) provide Snake with his only link to the outside world.

Along the procedure Snake meets surfers (Peter Fonda), the Surgeon General of Beverly Hills (Bruce Campbell in a hilarious role that truly is the highlight of the movie) in pursuit of the procedure. Oh and once again Snake has one of those immense digital watches attached to his wrist to remind him his days are numbered if he doesn’t acquire the intention help in time. Filled with large cameos by Steve Buscemi (as Intention to the Stars Eddie), B-movie queen Pam Grier (as Hershe Las Palmas), Italian beauty Valerie Golino, the gradual Paul Bartel, Issac Hayes (in a cameo) and Robert Carradine “Dash from L.A.” impartial might be Carpenter’s most undervalued film (along with the large satire “They Live”) .

The weakest link in the film turns out to be the uneven visual effects done by Disney’s Buena Vista Visual Effects. Some of the opticals contemplate ample particularly the scenes where Los Angeles gets hit by the 9.6 earthquake. The sequences bewitching the mini-sub and some of the helicopters watch as if they were taken from computer games. While computer graphics were peaceful developing at the time, I’m surprised that Disney’s effects house wasn’t able to near up with more convincing visuals for this sequence. Collected, while they aren’t what they could be they’re not the focus of the memoir either and are a fine minor pickle. Many of the best effects work quite well. The production beget by Lawrence G. Paull (”Blade Runner”, “Succor to the Future”, “Predator 2″) gives the film a worthy bigger seek than the budget the film had (it cost roughly $50 million to originate including the marketing allotment of the budget) . A bit of trivia about the film. Russell appears wearing the same costume he had for the first film at the beginning. Russell also made all the basketball shots seen in the climatic game himself.

Presented in its unique widescreen format with a trailer as the only extra, this was released when Paramount was playing come by up in releasing product for the DVD market. The image quality is exceptionally suitable with big color reproduction and a nearly flawless print (particularly when compared to the remastered re-release of “Flee from Recent York”) with a nice 5.1 sound mix.

It’s too terrible this hasn’t been reissued with extras (such as a commentary from Carpenter and Russell and one or two featurettes. Heck, there’s got to be a promo fragment somewhere in Paramount’s vault about this as I seem to remember one being released to promote it) because, while isn’t quite up to “Run from Novel York”, “Speed from L.A.” is unexcited a memorable sequel with enough satire, parody and humor laced moments to maintain fans of the unusual cheerful. Hopefully one of these days this minor Carpenter classic will bag the re-evaluation it deserves.

When I first saw this film in the theaters, I really didn’t like it. In fact, I was graceful let down! I had grown up with Speed From Current York, and to my awe, John Carpenter remade his gain film! I’m not kidding, REMADE it. Just down to Snake getting shot in the leg and limping for the last half of the film. Years later I revaluated my understanding. You can’t gain a film as corny as this on accident, especially if you’re a used director like John Carpenter; It had to be done on purpose. I’ve read numerous interviews over the years and have found out two things, and I mediate these two things are the reason this film ended up the device it did. First, John Carpenter hates sequels. He never wanted to do sequels to his films. He never wanted a sequel to Halloween(let alone six! That’s why he produced Halloween 3 which people hated so great, coz he was trying to engage this series in a different direction and not retread the whole Michael Myers thing) . I also understand that both Carpenter and Kurt Russell were under alot of studio pressure to perform this film. I don’t know what kind of favor Carpenter owed the studio, but he made this film. And my theory is that he made this film intentionally terrible to say to the studio, “There, I made the stinking sequel you wanted, don’t ask me to do it again!” I mean really, if he had wanted to accomplish a sequel to Elope From Modern York, don’t you judge he would have struck while the iron was hot and made it at the height of the first film’s success instead of waiting 15 years? Consider about it. When I think this scenario, I can gape Hasten From L.A and have a top-notch laugh thinking that John Carpenter may have played a broad joke on the Hollywood studios. Really, there’s no plot Carpenter included that surfing scene with the blueprint of it being taken seriously. The film is impartial map too overblown, draw too cheesy and obviously a carbon copy of the unusual to be anything other than a joke. Kurt may be older now, but he’s actually mild able to play Snake Plissken like it’s 1980. The performance is titanic, it’s honest the film surrounding Kurt that’s laughable. Try watching it again and seek what you assume.

It’s depressed in the obscene that the First World War has largely fallen by the wayside. If we hear anything about the conflict at all, it’s usually on the History Channel or another network airing a documentary rotund of grainy, gloomy and white clips of men stumbling over the top of trenches. Interest in historical events tends to plunge off significantly when those interested pass away, and in the case of the generation that fought this horrific war not only have they exited the stage, they have left the building as well. I developed a life long interest in “the war to slay all wars” after seeing Peter Weir’s 1981 film “Gallipoli” in a runt, urge down art house theater at the age of ten. I didn’t understand the historical context at the time, but this dramatic interpretation of events that unfolded in the Dardanelles during 1915 left a lasting impression on my impressionable mind. I recently rewatched the film and can say that it composed works as an intense drama and as a serious antiwar statement. Weir’s overt hostility toward the British commanders at Gallipoli, however, doesn’t stand up as well. By the procedure, this is one of the films that propelled Mel Gibson to international stardom.

Weir decided to focus his film not on the massive armies battling away in Europe, but on two individuals living in Australia. Archy Hamilton (Sign Lee) and Frank Dunne (Mel Gibson) are two of the fastest runners in the country. Hamilton trains with his demanding grandfather, who promises the young lad that if he works hard he may yet go down as the next national sports hero. Frank, on the other hand, wanders around the country with a few buddies taking any job he can secure and generally fair having a lot of fun. News of the escalating war in Europe is vague and distant, referenced only when someone brings up a news yarn they saw in the paper. Archy wants to go and fight, attracted by the lure of glory that has suckered millions of young people since the dawn of time into danger. Frank doesn’t reflect of war as glory, and when his pals bring up the plan of enlisting he quietly makes his location known. Both of these young men’s lives are forever changed after the slay up competing against each other in a foot speed at a regional aesthetic. Archy barely wins, but a friendship develops between the two that soon finds Frank tagging along when Archy decides to enlist in the distinguished cavalry. Frank agrees to join with Archy, once he discovers that the ladies cherish a soldier, but goes into the infantry after failing to qualify for the light horse unit.

It really doesn’t matter anyway since horses won’t execute a bit of contrast when the ANZAC (Australian and Recent Zealand Army Corps) soldiers head first to Egypt and then the Dardanelles for combat against the Ottoman Turks. What the war misfortune needs are bodies helpful of running headlong into a withering wall of machine gun fire, and cavalry troops minus their steeds will work in this capacity impartial as well as infantrymen. Before they near the killing fields, Archy and Frank reunite during a training employ in Egypt. Hamilton convinces his commander to enlist Dunne in the cavalry, claiming that his skills as a runner rival his beget and that both men will accomplish a major contribution to the regiment. Weir shows us plenty of carefully crafted scenes of the men having a expedient time in Cairo, of the deepening camaraderie taking position even as the war looms larger and larger in the background. The movie takes a doom and gloom turn as the ANZAC forces land at Gallipoli to purchase share in the fighting. Casualties mount as attacks designed to expand the beachhead fail under Turkish machine guns. Soon, Archy and Frank know they will have to go over the top too, and realize they will certainly perish in the process. The conclusion to “Gallipoli” is one of the most emotionally grinding, soul shattering denouements in motion narrate history.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Gallipoli! Click Here

The only thing I found extremely irritating about “Gallipoli” is the cheesy synth musical accept, which now sounds so early 1980s that it dates the portray terribly. I consider the message about how people join up to go to war for all the infamous reasons, however, is quiet highly relevant. And if there was any war that everyone should have avoided, it was World War I. Generals and leaders quiet subscribed to antiquated notions of warfare, never taking into narrative machine guns, poison gas, and airplanes would decimate the troops. The fatalities were truly appalling, with millions perishing in muddy trenches during the four year conflict. Weir expertly depicts the squalid conditions of the trenches, but he goes too far blaming the film’s fatal charge on the British commanders. First of all, far more British soldiers died during the campaign in the Dardanelles than did members of ANZAC. Second, why region the onus for the war on the British? Plenty of commanders on all sides made mistake after mistake in this conflagration, mistakes that resulted in so many fatalities that it’s a wonder humanity didn’t rise up and cast their leaders into the fire.

“Gallipoli” wins the day in the slay thanks to the charm of Designate Lee and Mel Gibson. Weir’s cinematography sinks its claws in as well. Check out the shots of the Australian outback, the Red Obnoxious party, and the landing at Gallipoli to learn why. The transfer looks worthy, but the only extra on the disc is a short interview with Weir about the making of the film. I wanted a commentary track for this film desperately, and serene hope a special edition will reach on the market in the come future. If you haven’t seen “Gallipoli,” check it out soon.

There’s been a few things said about this movie, several reviewers mentioned that it was slow-moving, and another pointed out with exasperating pedantry the historical inaccuracies, but I’d like to say that I judge ‘Gallipoli’ is a advantageous movie. It was well shot and well acted, the characters were steady and believeable, the procure was magnificient, the fable was arresting, and although the script had less action than, say, ‘Saving Private Ryan’ it also wasn’t wasteful – one wouldn’t have cared about the people if one didn’t know them.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Gallipoli! Click Here

Which is also the point. If `Gallipoli’ wasn’t historically proper, and it’s tough to portray a yearlong anecdote in an hour and a half, one does win the point. Which, of course, is that wars, especially this one, and especially this battle, are unimaginative, self-serving and pointlessly destructive endeavors.

I’m dumbfounded by the reviewer who chose to lambaste the portrayal of the British officers in the campaign. I’m surprised an Aussie would say that, but then again there’re plenty of Yanks who’ll second guess Harry S Truman from now till the raze of time, so who am I to deem. While I’m the first to admit that those words were probably not said, I have to gain that the blue blood of the capital officers taught them not to give a damn about the sweat and blood of some abominable sons-of-criminals from a lost colony. I’m not alone, and I quote from John Merriman’s History of New Europe, p1059, “Other [historians] agree with most contemporaries who believed that [Gallipoli] was a needless diversion dictated by British colonial interests in the Middle East and for which Australian and Modern Zealander troops paid a disproportionate heed.”

The aristocratic attitude of the officers in the Substantial War was the single thing that caused the casualty rates The well-bred officers didn’t care that they were sending men with bolt-action rifles against entrenched machine guns because they were honest peasants (or Australians) anyway. That is the historical truth, and I for one like how it came out in the training sequence as well as the battle sequences of this movie. It belongs in the collection of anybody who doesn’t want to go to war.

Let me preface this by saying I have lost and maintained a nearly 40lb weight loss through eating and working out. I’ve completed a half marathon, speed 20 miles weekly and have done numerous workout DVD’s…including the current Biggest Loser DVD and even Jillian’s separate workout DVD’s. I don’t say this to toot my fill horn, but to give you a gauge as to how someone who’s in superb shape views this DVD.

At least I opinion I was in excellent shape until I popped this DVD in. This is a crazy hard workout that will workout every fiber in your body.

Bob starts with Level 1 and gives you 20 minutes of heart pounding, roam screaming and weight lifting cardio…at Level 1??

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Biggest Loser Workout: Cardio Max! Click Here

Jillian is next and she doesn’t fail at delivering a 10 diminutive, high intensity level 2 cardio workout. Like I stated earlier, I’ve got her whole collection of workout DVD’s and this 10 minutes with her, is unprejudiced as dreadful (obedient) as a few of the 20 miniature DVD’s I’ve got with her.

Bringing up the rear is Kim…and this one is a let down. For a level 3 cardio workout, she barely breaks even with Bob’s Level 1. Now, if you do all 3 in a row like I do, then it does rep a cramped boring at the raze with her, but if you impartial pop in her piece for 10 minutes, I don’t assume you’d be pushing yourself very hard. In my occupy belief, the workout pain would have gone Kim, Jillian and then Bob…do those jumping lunges and squawk me that’s not Level 3 cardio!

All in all, this is a ample workout DVD to add to your collection. The ability to customize your workouts is mountainous and the some of the moves are modern and I’ve never done them before.

Start 2008 off suitable and lay down the cash for this. You won’t be disappointed in the workout it gives you.

As you can deliver by the camouflage, this workout is led by the three Biggest Loser trainers, Bob, Jillian and Kim. They are all outgoing and motivating and in this 50 miniature workout, you will definately burn calories.

You can play any segment in any order which I like to avoid boredom, or you can settle some of the curious premixes. Bob leads a bootcamp segment where you can do the moves with or without weights to invent it tougher if you want. Jillian doesn’t mess around with her high intensity drills. They are tough, but stick to it for a while and it will net easier. Then at the demolish, Kim does kickboxing (which really gets your heart rate up) . Some of seasons 3 and 4 are here too and they witness huge.

I like this workout because it’s tough and yet fun and I’ve only done it once so far, but I’m composed feeling it and can’t wait to try it again because I know it will score easier and it’s a definate calorie and bulky burner.

Although the trusty DVD station isn’t out as of the time I write this, the 4th season finished airing months ago and now since they have the page for pre-order up, I’ve been kinda itching to write a review.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Stargate Atlantis – The Complete Fourth Season! Click Here

Well as this season starts off from the 3rd season cliffhanger, it is definately off to an awesome launch. Atlantis lost, adrift in place and running out of power. To conserve energy, they shrink the shield down to a exiguous share of the city and then what happens? …Atlantis runs into an asteroid belt! Then to gather more power, they actually raid the Asuran homeworld for ZPM’s using Dr. Weir! A very inviting beginning.

While the majority of episodes are hits, such as the episode where a disease causes everyone to lose their memories(Tabula Rasa) or the one where Teal’c comes for a visit(Midway) ; there are some that topple short of their potential for giving more or are impartial wearisome dull! For example: the end-season cliffhanger! This is the first time I’ve ever been disappointed with an Atlantis cliffhanger, not leaving me anxiously gripping to seek how they rep out of that position, waiting for the next season. It ends with Sheppard and his team searching a building for Teyla, but it self-destructs and collapses in on them. (Zzzzzz…you know they survive it) A better device to waste the season would have been to leave Sheppard stranded 48,000 years in the future, revealing more about what happened in the galaxy in all that time and trying to figure out a plot to regain benefit home with the McKay hologram’s unusual notion failing to work! Now that sounds like one hell of a cliffhanger!

Buy,Download, Or Stream Stargate Atlantis – The Complete Fourth Season! Click Here

I reviewed season 3 as well, saying it gives potential for an awesome season 4. Does it live up to that potential? It comes conclude, but unfortunately no it doesn’t. Why? It fair seems like the shows creators/writers aren’t willing to go all the intention in some of the episode’s stories. For that matter, I can’t figure out what direction the indicate is headed in anymore; can you? (I remove the display IS going in some direction)

At least this time around they gave more attention to the Wraith and to Teyla. The whole myth arc with the Athosian people being kidnapped and Teyla’s search for them, both expanded, and renewed some interest, in her character. In my season 3 review I also stated my well-liked character is McKay, but even I am starting to procure tired of seeing him so worthy in every episode.

Dr. Weir was officially lost this season, then killed, then…kinda came assist? But fortunately we regained some ancient faces. Dr. Beckett (or at least a clone) came help at an waste of the season episode. And while I liked having Samantha Carter as the Atlantis commander, objective like Dr. Weir in season 3, they didn’t expend her character enough!

Which leads us to season 5. SPOILERS AHEAD! I’ve read various sources about what season 5 of Atlantis will have instore for us fans & veiwers, and most have been confirmed. The biggy for me being that Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping) will NOT be benefit as Atlantis’ commander. (Due to the fact she’ll be staring in her bear explain, “Sanctuary”.) But she will near help for some guest appearances. Who’s replacing her? Richard Woolsey (Robert Picardo)! I have completely mixed feelings about his character, but he definately doesn’t have what it takes to snort Atlantis! So unless he grows a pair and proves himself as something other than a cowering beaurocrat, this alone makes me perilous about season 5 as well as the future of the note. Dr. Beckett and Dr. Daniel Jackson will guest star in some episodes, as well as 2 fresh characters and an entirely unique urge being introduced.

Don’t acquire me outrageous, I serene really like Atlantis and am going to gather the season 4 DVD once it’s released, but I must say this is the first time I am risky about how the next season will occupy shape, or if it will even be any edifying? Let’s impartial hope season 5 will demonstrate me sinister!

The season 4 DVD situation itself will have the usual: commentaries, deleted scenes, etc. However, this will be the first Atlantis season DVD that will have a bloopers reel.

**UPDATE: Well, Season 4 came out today, I’ve got it and am watching it proper now. Physical DVD-wise, the video and sound is mild colossal like seasons 2 & 3. Packaging is the same as well. The menus are different from seasons 2 & 3 DVD’s, but are composed cool-looking and are easy to navigate. (You don’t have to go through a lot of submenus to catch what you are looking for.) Hope this latest info helps anyone!

Surprisingly, season 4 of Stargate Atlantis is better than season 3–it is fair about on par with season 2. Most of the storylines are decent, with some very luscious ones; even with the mostly annoying characters, this season is tolerable.

Lt. Col. John Sheppard has deviated from his Jack O’Neill Jr. behavior, now becoming a standard yet spineless character; when faced with most women, he’s level-headed and weak-willed, barely standing up for himself–unlike his decisive attitude around men. Col. Samantha Carter, taking the set of Dr. Weir, is a friendly and strong leader–at times, she is the only one to yelp up for the upright course of action. Dr. Rodney McKay, barely changing in the slightest, remains arrogant and smug; however, Carter can sometimes shut him up with a well-placed comment, which is quite satisfying. Teyla, although the victim of a sometimes pathetic position twist, is very faintly better than she was in season 3, sometimes offering up Athosian wisdom for those in need. Ronon is, in my conception, the best character in the show: he is on occasion the only person with favorite sense, and also tells it exactly like it is.

As for the episodes:

Adrift–5 of 10–We win up where we left off in season 3, with the city floating in situation and losing power. The whole of this episode is spent on creating and solving dilemma upon problem: an asteroid belt threatens the city, as well as badly damaged power conduits and loss of shield protection. This goes on until it ends in a very unsatisfactory manner. I couldn’t assist but deem that a better solution could have been found to the main, crippling jam of this episode.

Lifeline–7 of 10–Even with the abominable ending of `Adrift’, this episode finishes things up very nicely, with a audacious mission and valorous relieve from the wounded Dr. Weir. Rodney of course discovers something else that they could try to do while going through with their fresh mission; I expected things to go from terrible to worse and their plans to fail, but thankfully everything went well, with the city actually surviving somewhat unscathed. This is a qualified ending to a terrible quandary.

Reunion–8 of 10–Ronon stumbles upon three of his friends from Sateda (his home planet) and wonders whether he should leave Atlantis to stop with them. The Satedans are actually slightly dislikeable, being somewhat boorish and rough around the edges; they influence Ronon far too distinguished at times, but they have an unpredictable secret that almost dooms Ronon. As with mostly all episodes focusing on Ronon, this is enjoyable–although it features some very unique fight scenes…

Doppelganger–4 of 10–Sheppard touches a crystalline object on an alien planet and soon appears in everyone’s nightmares. The thought slow this episode is interesting; but throughout it, I was laughing! Unintentionally, it becomes more of a unlit comedy instead of horrific and appealing. Something about Sheppard being the villain in each and every nightmare is actually quite comic.

Travelers–3 of 10–Sheppard is captured by a unfamiliar ship and tries to dash while dealing with the ship’s stereotypically heavenly commander. This episode might actually outdo season 2’s `Grace Under Pressure’ in terms of being annoying. Larrin, the commander, is anything but military, even though she lives on her tattered ship; her hair is long and flowing, she wears tight sunless leather, and she saunters through the corridors like a fashion model. When she gets what she wants, her attitude is predictably smug–when she doesn’t accept what she wants, she becomes pugnacious and petulant, at one point stomping her foot and hollering like a twelve-year-old. All in all, this is useless.

Tabula Rasa–9 of 10–In an amazingly excellent and provocative episode, Rodney finds himself tied to his desk, with almost total memory loss, and peculiar instructions from a recording of himself. The explanation of the memory loss is logical and understandable; the adventures ensuing are interesting and mysterious; the flashbacks to hours earlier are nice and enlightening; and it all serves to execute an episode I heartily enjoyed!

Missing–6 of 10–Teyla and Keller, traveling to exhaust a day at the modern Athosian settlement, fetch that the people are missing; they encounter the wicked Bola Kai tribesmen wandering the planet and must screen for panic of bewitch and death. In this episode, Keller at last shows her mettle–after whimpering and moaning for most of the time, she finds her inner courage and faces a hazardous enemy. The largest scrape with the episode, though, is that in all other season 3 and 4 episodes, I saw no mention of the Athosians being relocated to another planet. I have no opinion when they got there!

The Seer–8 of 10–Still searching for the Athosians, Teyla seeks out a illustrious seer–the leader of a group of people on another planet–and finds that he knows noteworthy about Atlantis’ future. Although the seer himself doesn’t have grand to do, his visions predict quite a bit of danger for Atlantis; meanwhile, the team finds themselves inextricably linked with the Wraith in order to fight the Replicators. With the amount of adventures involved–and the very exiguous amount of mistakes made–this episode is very great.

Miller’s Crossing–5 of 10–Rodney’s sister Jeannie is kidnapped and, in searching for her, Rodney stumbles into a trap. This episode gives Rodney and Jeannie a chance to argue and sulk, which they are both quite pleasurable at. Unbiased as in season 3’s `McKay and Mrs. Miller’, the premise itself is not very sound; the decisions that Rodney, Jeannie, and even their kidnapper accomplish are foolish; as a plus, Jeannie decides to call Rodney by his proper name, Meredith, through the entire episode–even though he has already told her that he goes by the name of Rodney. Like before, this is rather worthless.

This Mortal Coil–9 of 10–After a weird drone from an unknown source crashes into the city, the denizens of Atlantis slowly initiate to realize that there’s something current going on. At the beginning, this episode is a game of `what’s sinister with this record? ‘ Once the truth is finally known–shocking not only the team, but myself as well–the team must work to avert peril and provide attend…but those who need abet are the most unlikely of people!

Be All My Sins Remember’d–7 of 10–Since the Replicators are attacking more and more planets, the team decides to determine things once and for all. Larrin, clichéd commander of the Traveler warship, gets an appearance; when Sheppard comes to her–virtually groveling for her support instead of candidly asking for it–she decides to tie him to a chair (apparently a running gag) . What’s nice is that Col. Ellis, commander of the Apollo, finally manages to give Rodney a allotment of his mind before they all go off to fight the Replicators. In the slay, though a original and horrible enemy is revealed to us in the audience, although the team knows nothing of them.

Spoils of War–7 of 10–The team, led by a signal from Todd’s subspace tracking plot, stumbles on a top secret Wraith outpost, where they will salvage many threats. Teyla finally gets a chance to benefit out, with as powerful courage as ever, while Sheppard, Rodney, and Ronon peep the facility. A Wraith queen is spotlighted and gets to boom and spit in the usual over-the-top manner. Although this episode is contrived in spots, it aloof is somewhat decent.

Quarantine–6 of 10–After the city mistakenly quarantines itself, many of the main characters obtain themselves trapped together, giving them a chance to learn more about each other. We get that Dr. Zelenka raises pigeons; Dr. Keller graduated from college at age 15; and other assorted small tidbits. Rodney is of course featured prominently in this episode, as he is in almost all of them. The extremely gracious portion about this episode is that Dr. Zelenka finally gets a chance to do something grand for the entire city. Otherwise, it’s the usual, mediocre at best.

Harmony–4 of 10–Sheppard and Rodney agree to shepherd a young princess on a rite of passage; in a reverse of Star Trek: The Next Generation’s `The Dauphin’, the girl–who bears the Earth name Harmony–develops a crush on Sheppard. This results in her acting somewhat like The Lord of the Rings’ Gollum, pretending to weep in Sheppard’s arms while smirking at Rodney instead. She is the classic spoiled-brat child, not caring whether Sheppard or Rodney survive their mission, and explaining her actions with the words “I’m the queen!” Throughout most of the episode, I could examine all the major events coming easily. This is a light, very faintly comedic episode that is worth seeing only once.

Outcast–6 of 10–Sheppard’s father dies and he comes home to Earth for the funeral, but then finds himself in distinguished deeper pain than he expected. His polished brother wears a savor suit and has perfectly coiffed hair; his ex-wife, even with her nightclub-style outfit, works implausibly for the Department of Homeland Security; strangely, Sheppard finds himself at a complete loss for words every time he encounters either of them. Otherwise, the main storyline–featuring Replicators, as well as an unexpected appearance by a feeble supporting character from season 1–is decent at the very least. Of course, there are some record points that I can recognize coming…but then again, that’s legal for almost all the episodes.

Trio–8 of 10–Carter, Rodney, and Keller are trapped in a obsolete Genii mine that is racked by tremors. Thankfully, Rodney doesn’t gather to point to grand of his very annoying tendencies in this episode, although contributing an understanding on how to escape; Carter and Keller also do their separate parts, trying to accept out before the tremors waste the mine. While this is the standard `a jam arises, and most attempts to solve it fail miserably’ episode, it manages to be piquant because of the interaction between the three characters. All three of them reveal themselves by intention of valorous actions.

Midway–10 of 10–With Ronon about to be evaluated by the IOA, Carter decides that Teal’c could impart the Satedan worthy. However, when times grow tough, Ronon and Teal’c must work together to effect Earth. This is by far the best episode of season 4, featuring a agreeable crossover and unpleasant problems. There is a huge (and regrettably short) fight scene between Ronon and Teal’c, featuring Chuck the gate technician taking bets on who will obtain. Even with the tribulations, the two warriors work well together; however, in the meantime, Sheppard and Rodney accumulate themselves in equal grief. I appreciate this episode not only because of Teal’c, but also because of the enchanting and plausible quandary. If only every Atlantis episode had the incredible writing this one does!

The Kindred, Portion 1–6 of 10–In a slightly enchanting decline from `Midway’, Teyla finds herself having visions of Kanaan, the father of her child, and feels that she must search at a positive village. In the meantime, a sudden plague is sweeping through the galaxy. Almost everything in this episode results in disaster; Teyla–while searching for her people–is captured, and Sheppard and the other team members glean that a familiar and annoying villain is leisurely the plague. Todd, the jolly Wraith, gives them little succor and asks for it in return, but in the waste his information does them no valid. The very last moment of the episode features a surprising return from a much-beloved character…

The Kindred, Fraction 2–7 of 10–While Teyla finds her people again, Sheppard and friends try to get her with the wait on of the newly returned character (whose identity I will not impart) . That person has quite a few health problems, which lessen his/her ability to help; in the meantime, Teyla learns more about the experiments being performed on some of her people. In the waste, information is gathered and the Athosians are rescued, but Teyla remains a prisoner. Even though the villain in this two-part episode now has the usual mad-scientist qualities, this episode is far from unpleasant. The extinguish is tragic as the returned character takes his/her leave from his/her friends. Not poor!

The Last Man–7 of 10–Sheppard comes through the gate and finds that he’s been sent 48,000 years in the future; naturally, Rodney–once Sheppard went missing–came up with a hologram of himself that is programmed to benefit Sheppard in any plan possible. Most of the episode is taken up by reminisces of events taking residence after Sheppard vanished–there are many things that go obnoxious, such as Michael predictably trying to seize over the galaxy. While Sheppard tries to get a arrangement out of the future, the hologram of older Rodney tells him stories of Ronon, Carter, Teyla, Keller and Rodney himself too. This episode is helpful because of its similarities to the Star Trek: Voyager series finale, but unfortunately the ending is rushed.

How could a movie fanatic go substandard with this one? Sidney Pollack directing, with Francis Ford Coppola helping out with the adaptation of a Tennessee Williams play? A vast cast, with especially memorable performances from Natalie Wood, Kate Reid and Mary Badham (as younger sister, Willie Starr)? Roberts Redford and Blake and Charles Bronson thrown in for lagniappe? Sounds like vast gumbo to me.

Natalie Wood is absolutely alluring in this one. She and Redford, who also teamed together in the memorable INSIDE DAISY CLOVER, did indeed appear to have a lot of shroud chemistry. He is the cynical company man who appears like the Grim Reaper in a cramped, shabby, depression-era southern town, carrying pink slips with him, instead of a scythe. The role has a lot of resonance now, what with all the corporate downsizing currently going on. Needless to say, the townfolk don’t considerable cotton to Mr Owen Legate, with his esteem suit and self-assured ways.

With a couple significant exceptions. Tom boyish Willie Starr is taken by him moral away and the petite her astronomical sister Alma sets eyes on him, she’s putty. Wood’s expression in that initial view is fraction of film history.

Owen further antagonizes the townfolk because they discover that Alma has taken a shine to an outsider. Alma’s been something of a tramp up this point, givining it up to varying degrees to most of the men in the town. Several of them, including an broken-down geezer with an invilid wife, have been fantazising about further adventures with Alma. And Alma’s mother is upset with Owen, because she sees that he is going to bewitch away her gravy whine. Hazel Starr is one of Williams’ broad eccentric female characters, and perhaps his most unctuous (though Amanda Wingfield, in THE GLASS MENAGERIE, is no prize, either. Kate Reid is perfect in the role. This, to me is her most memorable performance, followed closely by her title role in AND MISS REARDON DRINKS A Limited, which unfortunatley appears to be impossible to get. It’s hard to own she never won an Oscar or a Tony.

This was only the second feature film that Pollock directed. He of course went on to large things with such films as THEY SHOOT HORSES DON’T THEY and TOOTSIE. He and Cinematographer James Wong Howe do a titanic job of capturing miniature southern town lethargy, as well as 30’s Modern Orleans ambience. The print, unfortunately, could definitely employ a stout restoration. It’s primitive noticeably over time. The film certainly warrants the extra work. Yet time cannot wither Natalie Wood. She’s unexcited one of the most attractive women a camera ever made worship to. This film definitely belongs advance the top of the list for cover adaptations of Williams’ plays.

BEK

When I first saw this film, as a preteen, I opinion it was the ultimate romance. Well, I got older … and saw it again. And it’s detached radiant romantic. In fact, it’s tranquil a film I look over and over.

The performances are really juicy. Everyone in it seems to understand the over-the-top quality of Tennessee Williams, and no one disappoints. You’ll come by Charles Bronson and a very young Robert Blake in supporting roles here. Both Kate Reid, as Wood’s driving, ambitious `Mama’ using her sparkling daughter to hook the town’s men, and Mary Badham, as `Willie’, the not-so-beautiful younger sister who idolizes Wood, are quite simply ample. Every disappear, every gape from both are truly sublime.

Natalie Wood has always been one of my popular stars, and she is every crawl the star in this one. It’s distinct from her first closeup how special, how different, and how lively Alva Starr is to everyone she comes in contact with. She meets her match in Robert Redford, the man who has no dreams, who sees her in unvarnished sunless and white but comes to delight in her need to color life … in fact, realizes he can’t live without it when he’s separated from her.

Is it enormous drama? No. But it’s resplendent soap opera. The best soap opera, the most memorable Southern soap opera, you’re likely to collect. These people have genuine problems, sincere needs, and they’re beautifully drawn by the screenwriters (thank you, Francis Coppola, among others) and by the actors who play them. We’re given a lot of time to know them and care about them, and we do care, very distinguished.

It’s one of my celebrated guilty pleasures, and I ask I’ll preserve watching it for years to approach. Don’t miss it.

There’s a fleeting but telling moment in Stephen Frears’ “Chéri” when the aging Lea de Lonval (Michelle Pfeiffer) stands on the balcony of her hotel suite, staring down at a great younger man lifting weights on the beach. Their eyes lock for a moment, and the young man turns ever so slightly to give her a better search for at his biceps. It’s not as if she couldn’t have this man; she is, after all, a fabulously rich courtesan, one of the most successful to emerge from the La Belle Epoque era at the turn of the last century. Unfortunately, the man she gazes upon is nothing more than reminders of what she no longer has, one being her young lover, the other being youth itself. She must now go through the process of letting go and piquant on, a feat that proves to be mighty easier said than done.

The myth of “Chéri” is indeed a tragedy, but Frears and screenwriter Christopher Hampton (who adapted the recent fresh by Colette) clearly had no desire to develop the audience shout. Rather, they wanted to be stupid and to the point, realistic instead of sentimental–they wanted the audience to ruminate on what’s possible given the space. While this is certainly one of the film’s greatest strengths, most of the success is due to the performances, which are dramatically charming yet believable at the same time. Pfeiffer is especially astounding as Lea, a woman with who clearly has feelings yet has made a career out of repressing them. It’s not in a courtesan’s best interest to suppose her mind or drop in cherish, but as we all know, emotion can often times accumulate the better of us when we’re distracted.

The story: Lea is beseeched by her equally rich friend/rival, a used courtesan named Charlotte Peloux (Kathy Bates), to persuade her son, Fred, who Lea has known since he was a child and has nicknamed Chéri (Rupert Friend) . At age nineteen, Charlotte feels that Fred is conventional enough to marry and have grandchildren, which is really what this is all about. Unfortunately, Fred is spiteful and mopish, not at all customary enough to be a husband or father. Charlotte wants Lea to earn a man out of her son. What was intended to be a few weeks of conditioning ended up becoming six years of decadent passion, Lea the provider of gigantic rooms and lavish gifts, Fred the self-indulgent boy who happily takes what she freely offers. Freud would have a field day with this one, seeing as Lea and Fred essentially fragment a mother/son relationship augmented by sex.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Cheri! Click Here

When Fred returns to his dependable mother, he learns that she has arranged a marriage for him–to Edmee (Felicity Jones), the eighteen-year-old daughter of Marie Laurie (Iben Hjejle), another courtesan. Only then do Fred and Lea realize that their casual relationship has grown into admire. Partly as a device to cope with her feelings and partly as a map to obtain Fred jealous, Lea secretly goes on a retreat to a seaside hotel, telling not a soul where she is or for how long she will be there. During this time, she continues to effect advances on rich and impressionable young men. Likewise, Fred continues to be his gloomy self, initially showing no dependable interest in his original wife. There does near a moment, however, when he realizes that he and Edmee have more in accepted than he first thought; both were raised by mothers who had no sincere interest in them except at such moments when it good them best. In essence, they’re orphans.

The tragedy of this yarn comes from the knowledge that Lea and Fred were destined to plunge in treasure yet born too far apart. The film handles this not with weepy melodrama but with a gloomy, reserved dignity, the kind that comes from adherence to strict professional guidelines. Courtesans in particular have it hard, financially well off but socially shunned. The only outlets they seem to have are other courtesans, who rely on the same mindless topics for every conversation. Long term relationships are certainly out of the question; it’s not about falling in care for, but supporting yourself. Lea, desperately clinging to the conception of recapturing her youth with Fred, conveniently ignores this cardinal rule. One wonders if she knew all along how disastrous it is to play games in matters of the heart.

A grand portion of the reason this movie works so well is because of Michelle Pfeiffer, who gives Lea such unbelievable charm and poise, her breathy, exaggerated protest the very embodiment of beauty, pleasure, and extravagance, all available for a notice. But all the actors are very well cast. Kathy Bates is priceless as the overbearing Madame Peloux, and Rupert Friend brings titanic arrogance and immaturity to the title character. “Chéri” is also a triumph of visual appeal, production designer Alan MacDonald, cinematographer Darius Khondji, and costume designer Consolata Boyle convincingly evoking the see and feel of early twentieth century Paris. The entire film is a sensual experience that envelopes the audience, a somber but comely excursion into a world of carefree opulence, hidden feelings, and afraid romances. It’s practically a tragedy waiting to happen.

A rapture of visual, audio and cinematic emotional brilliance all tied with a killer last line. What a wonder is region before the viewer when one enters the world of “Cheri”.

The visual richness of this parfait of the Belle Epoch is breathtaking from the rich creamy art neuveau architecture to the gloriously realized costumes of the early 20th century. What they only indicated in “Enormous” of the same period costumes. Explodes in luxury and in a sense informs the examine to the scene at hand and seems less costume than authentic clothing.

As Cinema “Cheri” succeeds as more than an adaptation of a Collette current but becomes a world unto it’s gain. Here we are presented with some of our finest female performers at the top of their game. In short I am speaking of Michelle Pfeiffer and Kathy Bates. As frail courtesan rivals who are now aging friends they arrive together to elaborate the last share of their lives and the beginning of Bates’ son’s life in a great plot.

Kathy Bates goes deep into the complexities of her mix of comedy and nuanced drama in the same plot she did with Annie Wilkes. Not to say that the characters of Annie and Madame Peloux are anything alike. But Miss Bates takes this role to a superb level while all the while not letting you gawk her do her magic. She is unprejudiced THERE! The scene where her face decays from a radioactively sunny laugh to hiss her accurate deepest disgust her inappropriate soul is priceless.

Then there is Michelle Pfeiffer as Lea de Lonval, at fifty one she may be older that the literary Lea but she has never been more vivid or nearly goddess like. To peep at her is to study upon a woman of a positive age that is ageless in her embrace of times changing hands upon her face. But there is more. This may be the pinnacle of her career, the role of her lifetime. She is Lea in so many levels both within her acting and in a sense as an actress. She is blooming and brings forth the soul of a vast character as only our finest actors can.

But all of this would seem a delectable trifle, a light fable of an aging courtesan and her young lover if it were not for the narration that gives the film added depth and gravitas. I asked a friend today what he concept of the final outcome of the record. Of what the narrator reveals of what became of Cheri. He tossed it off lightly and said that it seemed an after belief. He could not have been more inappropriate. He missed the whole point of the film. The last lines of the film that assure us of the ultimate fate of Lea and Cheri are what give this film an emotional strength, irony, and ultimately heart wrenching tragedy. It is the final twist spot into a beautiful jewel of a film that is as tantalizing and though-provoking as Lea’s mysterious emerald ring.

My son was diagnosed with Pervasive Development Disorder – Not Otherwise Specified when he was 3. PDD-NOS is on the Autism spectrum, and children with this diagnosis often have developmental delays.

My son had a speech delay and other developmental delays. His speech is vast now…no one can detect that he has this diagnosis. However, the delays have, understandably, affected his learning in some areas.

While his spatial skills have been plot above average–as has his win of science (such as planets and their attributes) –he has resisted reading. He gets tired and frustrated.

Well, trying many approaches for helping him, I view I’d acquire a chance and secure the Talking Words Factory from Amazon.com, especially since the reviews were so helpful.

I am very, very satisfied with this DVD! My son watches it quite often, and he’s now reading books on his occupy. I can scrutinize a marked disagreement in a matter of WEEKS. Before, he had to deem about how some of the letters sounded. Now, he rattles them off like a pro–as well as 3-letter words!

This DVD also teaches about vowels and consonants, so he’s learning how the vowels are sticky like glue, holding words together (thanks to Professor Quigley’s Sticky-Ick-O-Rama machine!) . The Word Whammer machine shows children how to place the consonants and vowels together, and how they sound. I like the fact that they’ll switch around the vowels with the same beginning and ending consonants, to highlight how a vowel sounds within a word.

Talking Words Factory also teaches rhyming, which is a bonus.

Highly recommended!

I have never felt strong enough to actually bewitch the time to write a review. I am a certified k-6 teacher who has told everyone I know about Leap Frog’s 4 astounding movie and now I am telling you…

LF Letter Factory: This was the first (out of 4) Leap Frog Movie that my children watched. My 3 1/2 year traditional and 2 years 2 month faded boys are allowed to inspect 1 movie a day. Each Day they agreed, in excitement, to watched this movie. Under a week my 3 1/2 year veteran knew his letter sounds. He could dispute the letter sound song almost as rapid as he could stutter the alphabet. After a week, he amazed us when he sat down on the ground and wrote out the entire alphabet like a 4th grader. Had NO belief he could write like this! Shortly thereafter, the 2 year primitive knew all his letter sounds and letter recognition.

Talking Words Factory: I was so impressed that I bought them the Talking Words Factory that 2nd week. I wasn’t surprised that my 3 1/2 year former began to spell, writing, and sounding out 3 letter words. He told me all about how the vowels were all sticky and their job was to stick letters together to produce words. He went around singing the vowel song.

My kids loved the videos so worthy that for 10 months…My son’s (who conventional to play with Thomas the Trains and puppies) were obsessed with letters and words. They made their gain letter and word factory machines out of their toys and tubs, drew each letter cartoon character, and sang the letter and vowel songs, and the older one wrote, yes wrote, many of his possess homemade books.

Talking Word Factory 2: It doesn’t close there…They got the Talking Word Factory 2 and Math Circus when they came out this Christmas. In a couple of days, the now 4 year former, was telling me all about sh, ch, th, and other blends. He told me how the peaceful e at the waste of the word made the other vowel say its name (long vowel sound) . He went on to disclose me also how “when 2 vowels go walking the first one does the talking.” And he wrote and read unusual complex words such as, boat, home, dime, wait, etc. This really increased his ability to read many, many unique words – 8 letter words too!

Math Circus: They loved it too! Though it is mercurial consuming for beginners, it is fascinating and has an easy understanding. Adding and subtracting now comes dazzling easy for my 4 year conventional. I gave him a math work sheet for addition and subtraction honest for kicks. Wouldn’t you know it, he did all of them with no dilemma. He was so involved in adding that he started asking about problems such as 3 + 3 + 3. Which helped him learn the idea of multiplication 3 x 3, 3 x 4, etc. But, we told him that he had plenty of time to learn that later!

The only negative comments that I have to say about these Leap Frog videos: Nothing, Oh, except that I wish my children weren’t so obsessed with letters! They eat, breath, and sleep letters. Sometimes I fair wish they would play with the trains, cars, and other toys. They will have their entire school life to learn about letters and reading! I honest hope that when the time comes for school that they won’t have grown board of it!

Other Leap Frog learning tools that reinforce what they learned on the videos:

LF Fridge Phonics Magnets – Adore it. It sings each letters song when you achieve the letter in the hole.

LF Word Whammer Fridge Phonics State – LF honest came out with this. I know that they will appreciate. I bought it for the next birthday! It is like the Fridge Phonics, but you can spell 3 letter words.

LF Letter Factory Board Game – Cherish it too! It is interactive and the board game talks and sings!

LF Hiss Along Letters Flash Cards & CD – Songs from the DVDs. Not that you don’t hear the songs sang enough from your children!

Wish they would effect computer CD’s too!

LF Leap Pad – Fun but they got board with the same books over & over. $14 a book!

There are many others, but I had to plot the line somewhere!

If you check all the other reviews, I am not alone. Only two out of 121 people gave this movie less than 5 stars! It is about time someone made a movie that parents and children both agree on! Thank you Leap Frog!
