Youth Football Practice – Assessing Your Talent Levels

February 4th, 2010 by sawyer9418844

Many coaches like to know what kinds of kids I have to work with so they can produce comparisons with what they have. My guess is our experiences are fairly similar.

FASST Peek

While running our FASST program it’s hard not to assume a examine at a few of the original players coming in. Like most of you, looking at the novel players is like opening a box of chocolates, you are always hopeful, but you never know what you are going to pick up. When your teams have expansive gaps to beget, those hopeful thoughts can almost be thoughts of desperation.

As many of you know I’m head coaching 3 teams this season for a variety of reasons, an age 7-9 team, an age 10-11 team and an age 12-13 team. Every team has it’s hold fresh strengths, weaknesses, personality and needs. All three of these teams are incredibly different from one another.

Age 7-9 Team

Here is how next years squads stack up:

The age 7-9 team finished 7-2 but really came on strong at the extinguish, winning 7 games in a row. At seasons ruin we were averaging about 30 points a game and no one wanted to play us. This was the youngest team in the league and all but 3 of our players were imprint unique to youth football. All of the players on this team signed up to play again but a few mature out to the next age bracket.

We have our entire starting offensive line serve and all are “stripers” meaning they are over the running encourage weight. This is a very fresh group and we even have 2 recent kids that are ’striper” weight as well. We are almost always one of the smallest teams in the league, so this will be a welcome change. We have our starting Wingback support, but will depart him to “Quarterback” as he did collect a few snaps at that region last season and can handle the place. All of our other starting running backs moved up, so that will be our challenge. About 70% of our touchdown scoring moved up to the next age group. On defense we lost one starting defensive demolish, one starting linebacker and one starting corner. While this sounds like a lot, it isn’t anything compared to what we had to work with last year with this group, they were almost all rookies. We have a right nice coaching staff with this group including 3 returners. This team should be very solid and has potential to be one of the better offensive lines I’ve coached. We will need more out of our just tight waste on this team or score a replacement. If we fetch a descent blocking relieve and an average wingback and fullback we should be able to average about 40 points a game with this group.

Age 10-11 Team

The age 10-11 team had every player but 1 heed aid up to play again. This team went 9-1 last season, “mercy ruling” 9 opponents. Unfortunately, most of the starters from this team are provocative up to the age 12-13 team. There are impartial 6 players help on this team and only 2 were starters. With the younger players enchanting up, we can gain a number of holes, but we will be by far the smallest team in the league with objective 1 “striped” player. All of our backs are under 90 pounds and we will have at least 10 rookie players on this team. Over 90% of the touchdowns scored on this team moved up to the older group. The coaching staff is favorable but thin, objective 1 coach with lots of experience, a 2nd year coach, a rookie coach and me. Needless to say this will be one of my biggest challenges in my 15 years of coaching youth football. We are petite and lifeless and will have small experience in an age bracket elephantine of teams that will be remarkable bigger, better and more experienced than us. I care for these kinds of challenges and observe forward to coaching these kids probably more than the other 2 teams. My guess my very best wretchedness can at best yield a .500 season.

Age 12-13 Team

The age 12-13 team will have descent experience, with fair 5 rookie players on it. We again will be the smallest team in the league with impartial 1 “striped” player. This group has lost honest 2 games in the last 4 years so there is nice continuity and experience but no size. We will be the youngest team in the league at this age group, with honest 6 kids that are 13 years frail. For those of you that have coached youth football, you know how well-known it is to have superior numbers at the top age in the age bracket. However these kids have consistently set up 35 points per game, so our expectations are high. We need some tight ends, an offensive lineman, a safety and some descent backup running backs. The coaching staff on this team is made up entirely of coaches that have coached with us for the last 3-4 years, a nice group. While we will be the youngest and smallest team in this age bracket, and have a few holes to bear, our expectations will be high for this team.

Why section This Information?

Why am I sharing this with you? I contemplate it’s distinguished for you to know I peaceful am a hands on youth football coach. What I’m imparting to you I’m field testing with my absorb teams. What I’m suggesting to you is working now in 2008 it isn’t something that worked help in 1992. I remember wait on in 2000 when I took my fracture from coaching to grow my fledgling youth football program. I took that time to notice the best and worst programs in the country to near up with a system that would allow our teams to compete, relatively talent independent. During that time, I was often asking my coaches to do things that were not doable. Because I wasn’t in the trenches I was a bit out of touch, even though I was at all the practices and games. I can sing you that isn’t the case now, I’m having many of the same thoughts and concerns you are feeling factual now and anxiously looking at what’s in my box of chocolates.

NFL Star Randy Moss Forms Truck Team for Latter Half of 2008

February 4th, 2010 by sawyer9418844

Moss has played in the National Football League for 10 seasons, mostly with the Minnesota Vikings, and has been a NASCAR fan for several years. He previously sponsored a local dirt track program in his home state of West Virginia and recently decided to get involved with big time auto racing. He plans to continue his association with the Urban Youth Racing School in Philadelphia in addition to his involvement with American Youth Football.

Driver candidates have not been mentioned while Moss has had preliminary discussions with different car manufacturers. He would prefer to hire a young driver or two once his program is off the ground, acknowledging that an experienced racer with instant name recognition is the right move initially.

Other professional athletes have tried to become NASCAR owners in the past with little success. NFL head coach Joe Gibbs made a successful transition, but Hall of Fame quarterbacks Terry Bradshaw, Troy Aikman, and Roger Staubach are among the latest casualties. The superstardom that Moss has sustained through a decade of professional football leaves skeptics doubting whether he can prolong his interest in building a NASCAR team from scratch-along with all the headaches that come from early frustrations and multiple setbacks as more money is pumped into an operation that may not succeed.

Moss signed a three-year $27 million deal with the Patriots in February. Clearly, the Foxboro franchise does not want their star receiver to become distracted on the gridiron.

It took three years for Aikman and Staubach to give up on Hall of Fame Racing, although the team still exists under new ownership. Proven personnel and first-rate equipment are hard to get and harder to keep for established teams like Petty Enterprises and Dale Earnhardt Inc. NASCAR giants such as Jack Roush have had to take on partners just to keep up.

While NASCAR strives for diversity, Moss also carries considerable baggage after a series of legal and personal problems since his high school days, when he pleaded guilty to a battery charge that caused Notre Dame to revoke his scholarship offer. He was later dismissed from Florida State before transferring to Marshall University, where his record-setting play placed him fourth in the Heisman Trophy balloting and made him a first-round draft pick by the Vikings after his sophomore year in 1998.

He has his work cut out for him.

A Brief History of the launch of the Miami Dolphins

February 3rd, 2010 by sawyer9418844

- cents Two clean Bowl Championships – 1972 & 1973
- cents Five Conference Championships
- cents 12 Division Championships

As successful as the Dolphins have been, many lose spy as to how this AFC team got its open in the NFL. This article will briefly shroud the infancy of the Miami Dolphins as a football powerhouse.
The Franchise

The Miami Dolphins began as most football teams do, as an expansion team. This extension of the American Football League was a franchise courtesy of actor Danny Thomas (”obtain Room For Daddy,” “The Danny Thomas Hour”) and attorney Joseph Robbie. The team was awarded to the two for only seven dollars and fifty cents, however Danny would later sell his section to Joseph Robbie.

In 1965, in order to name the team, a contest was held to officially name the newly licensed franchise. Over nineteen thousand submissions were submitted from over one thousand people. A seven member committee consisting of local media, titles such as the Mustangs, Mariners, Sharks, Suns, Marauders, Moons, and the Missiles were evaluated, contributed from a dozen finalists.
A West Miami resident, Mrs. Robert Swanson, won the contest with her nickname entry. With her entry, Mrs. Swanson also won lifetime passes to the Dolphins by predicting the earn, a tie 0 – 0, of the 1965 Notre Dame v. University of Miami game.
The Logo

The American Football League’s Miami Dolphins’ logo debuted in 1966. The logo consisted of the dolphin’s head, positioned in a manner so that the head was halt to the center of the sunburst. Sometimes cited as “The Fish,” due to the team’s name and mascot, this has given contrivance to the fact that dolphins are in fact mammals, not fish.

Disney’s THE PARENT TRAP remains one of the studio’s most fondly-remembered hits. With Hayley Mills, Maureen O’Hara and Brian Keith leading the perfectly-realised cast, the movie has become a favourite of generations.

In THE PARENT TRAP, Sharon and Susan discover while at summer camp that the reason why they look so similar is that they were twins, separated shortly after their parents’ split! The girls resolve to reunite their feuding parents by switching places and forcing them to meet once the switch is discovered. However, the twins don’t count on “pluck-faced child-bride” Vicky (Joanna Barnes), who is quickly winning the heart of Mitch (Brian Keith)! A brief but quite eventful camping trip should solve the problem…!

In 1985, the Disney Channel made THE PARENT TRAP II, which brought Hayley Mills back to Disney for the first time since 1965, to reprise her roles of mischevious twins Sharon and Susan.

In the delightful first sequel, Sharon’s pubescent daughter Nikki Ferris (Carrie Kei Heim) conspires to get her recently-divorced mother together with the father of her best friend Mary Grant (Bridgette Andersen). However, to acheive their goal, the girls must call in Sharon’s twin Susan, who’ll do most of the groundwork in getting the attention of Mary’s father (Tom Skerritt). You’ll adore this cute update in the continuing story of the twins’ lives!

DISNEY TRIVIA: Nikki Ferris and Mary Grant are also the names of the characters played by Hayley Mills in THE MOON-SPINNERS and IN SEARCH OF THE CASTAWAYS…!

Disney has released PARENT TRAP II in a double-disc set with the previously-available Vault Disney edition of the original movie. Great vaulue!

Later followed by PARENT TRAP III, and PARENT TRAP: HAWAIIAN HONEYMOON (both are as yet unavailable on DVD).

I am a Disney phile. I love classic Disney fare.

The Parent Trap was a great follow up after Pollyanna for child star Hayley Mills. This 1961 classic used split screen better than ever. The supporting cast of Brian Keith (five years before he become Uncle Bill on Family Affair- when does that reach DVD?), Maureen O’Hara And Leo G. Carroll (Four years before he became a part of U.N.C.L.E-as in the man from!) works so well with the twin Mills’s Sharon and Susan.

Most of the extra features from the Vault Disney version is here… except for the audio comments from Ms Mills and Direction David Swift. Unless you need the comments, the DVD is fine without it.

Twenty years later, Disney did a sequel, Parent Trap II. This wonderful comedy of errors happened so DISNEY-ish and works so well on many levels. Nikki and her friend Mary try to bring Mary’s father together with Sharon. Enter Nikki’s married aunt Susan to help Nikki and mary with their problem and the fun begins. The split screen effect is good, but not as good in the orginal trap. It STILL is pure Disney magic captured in a DVD

There are no extras regarding Parent Trap II… I know somewhere in the vault there is a ‘making of PT2′ feature, which is NOT on here. For Shame!

For children of all ages and fans of family entertainment, this DVD collection is great fun and rates high in my book

There are a number of reviews of the 2-DVD twofer version of “Daughters of Darkness” that call this movie a 5-star masterpiece. If you watch this movie for the first time with that level of expectation, you will likely be left feeling hugely underwhelmed by the movie’s conclusion.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Daughters of Darkness! Click Here

True, this movie does exhibit a higher degree of “art film” production values than your typical horror/vampire film (in particular, I notice that Kumel has some sort of fetish for artistic shots that highlight hands), And it does feature a pretty compelling performance by Delphine Seyrig, a sort of French Marlena Dietrich, whose charisma is undeniable. But those positive attributes are not enough to outweigh several impossible-to-believe script details (in particular, the various character deaths), and the plodding editing.

The director’s (Harry Kumel) commentary explains that he was instructed to create a “commercial” film, which according to him meant “sex and blood.” The movie opens with a sex scene, and also features full frontal female nudity, pretty close to full frontal male nudity, and according to Kumel, the first mainstream film depiction of a male achieving an orgasm. In addition, both female and male homosexuality is implied. However, Kumel’s explanation made clear to me why I was left with the feeling that these “commercial” elements are contrived and not integral to the story. I suspect that this film would never have been more than a blip on anyone’s radar except for the scandalous reputation that was intentionally created by attempting to shock 70s era audiences (note: by today’s standards, this is easily an R-rated film).

This is not to say that I hated this film, hence my 3-star rating. It is definitely a solid horror film, and it does have an unconventional charm that you do not find in modern day, gore-filled horror/slasher films. My closest analogy would be to call it “a poor man’s ‘The Fourth Man’”, a film that I consider to be as close to a “masterpiece” as you can get in the horror genre. Given its popularity/infamy, you should definitely see “Daughters of Darkness” once just to understand what all the hullabaloo is about. Just don’t expect a 5-star gem.

Much was made of this film when it appeared, and it did break some ground in terms of style and eroticism in vampire movies. But in 2009 it seems very slow, with not enough material to justify its length. Andrea Rau is lovely to look at (although a vampire with a tan line is something that might have been given more thought). In all, this is very much a film of its time, rather than one for the ages.

Definitely the highlights of this volume are the incredible Stewie Kills Lois/Lois Kills Stewie episodes. I remember watching “Stewie Kills Lois” when it first aired and I was blown away (well not as blown away as Lois) and I couldn’t wait for the conclusion after the courtroom cliffhanger. They were the debut of the season seven, right? (I can’t keep track of which season is which on Family Guy anymore). Did you ever wonder what would happen if the Griffins actually knew Stewie’s evil intentions? Well, you’ll find out in these episodes without future episodes being jeopardized. Yes, things will return to “normal,” but, as Stewie says, he hopes you’ll enjoy the ride. I found it funny (and a little odd) that “Stewie Kills Lois” re-aired on Mother’s Day. I have the Target special edition of this volume which includes a cool mini poster featuring those episodes. This volume also includes the last we’ll see (I guess) of Brian’s short lived romance with Jillian. I wish that were not the case because she was hilarious! Anyway, here is what you get with Volume Six:

Buy,Download, Or Stream Family Guy, Vol. 6! Click Here

Disc 1:

“No Meals On Wheels”–The Griffins open up a restaurant. To boost the low turnout, Joe offers to make “Big Pete’s House of Munch” the new hangout for his buddies…but not his cop buddies. That “Cripple Tron” was pretty stupid.

“Boys Do Cry”–Lois tries out for the new church organist (highlight: Herbert plays and sings “I Know What Boys Like”) and when she gets the job, she forces her family to go to church. When Stewie spits up the communion wine, he’s believed to be possessed by the devil, so the Griffins flee to a more tolerant part of the country…Texas. This was a good one until Gilbert Gottfried ended it on a stupid note.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Family Guy, Vol. 6! Click Here

“No Chris Left Behind”–Chris is expelled from James Woods High School for being the dumbest student. He ends up at his grandfather Pewterschmidt’s alma mater Morningwood Academy, but is hazed for being poor. Highlight: Stewie as King Friday. Oh, and am I the only one who hates that fighting chicken?

“It Takes a Village Idiot, and I Married One”–While vacationing at Quagmire’s cabin, the Griffins swim in a toxic lake. After an Amadeus parody (they sure grew back their hair fast), Lois is outraged when Mayor West tells her he is allowing oil companies to dump waste in the lake. Lois decides to run against him, but will she be just as susceptible to corruption?

“Meet The Quagmires”–In this “Back to the Future” parody, Peter gets death to let him go back in time to 1984 so he can have fun during his bachelor years. When he turns down Lois for a date, he finds he has changed the future. Peter is now married to Molly Ringwald and Lois is Mrs. Glenn Quagmire! Highlight: Peter keeps going back in time to fix his mistake and keeps making the same mistake (he makes Homer Simpson seem like a genius).

Disc 2:

“Movin’ Out (Brian’s Song)”–Brian tries to prove he’s serious about Jillian by moving in with her. Meanwhile, Meg gets a job at a convenience store, but when she gets Chris a job, she ends up fired while Chris and the boss talk movies all day. I didn’t like the ending because I liked Jillian as Brian’s airheaded girlfriend.

“Believe It Or Not, Joe’s Walking On Air”–Ha! They got the title from “The Greatest American Hero.” Highlights: Fred Flintstone confesses something shocking about Betty to Barney Rubble, Dr. Hartman and Mr. Pewterschmidt’s voice comparison, frogs on vacation in Ethiopia. Out of guilt for holding Bonnie back, Joe undergoes an experimental procedure to get his legs back, but ends up walking out on his friends and family (get it? “walking out”).

“Stewie Kills Lois”–Now for the highlight episodes of the season. Lois and Peter go on a cruise without Stewie. Stewie is so mad he threatens ruthless revenge, but Brian doesn’t believe he really means it so he dares him to really go through with it. Stewie: “I did it! I killed her! She’s dead! Ha, Ha, Ha!… [falls]… Ow! Mommy! Mommy! Mommy!…Oh yeah, that’s right.” The cliffhanger to this episode is awesome!

“Lois Kills Stewie”–Stewie looks like he has finally taken over the world, but there is one last hurdle: the final showdown with Lois. I don’t remember seeing the “Never Will Be Missed” musical number during the TV airing.

“Padre De Familia”–After a Veteran’s Day parade, Peter becomes a rabid American patriot who goes on a campaign against all illegal aliens…until his mother gives him some shocking news.

“Peter’s Daughter”–After Meg almost dies in a flash flood, Peter becomes overprotective, especially when she wants to date a young, handsome doctor (why he would want to date Meg is never explained). Meanwhile, Stewie and Brian fix up an old house.

Disc 3:

“McStroke”–Peter joins the mustache lifestyle, which includes stepping in as a volunteer fireman and saving a man from a burning McBurgertown. Given a lifetime of free burgers, Peter eats so much he suffers a stroke and decides to sue the restaurant. His case is aided by a talking cow he finds in “Dacow.” Included is a parody of those chase scenes from “The Monkees.” Meanwhile, Stewie becomes the popular high school student, Zack Sawyer, but doesn’t fare well at “Anal Point.”

Special Features–OK, one episode on a DVD seems like a gyp, but there are a lot of extras on this disc. They include, and are not limited to, “Family Guy 100th Episode Special,” “I’m Huge (and the babes go wild)” music video, “Family Guy Live-Just For Laughs,” and my favorite part of the bonus features: “Deleted Scenes” of which there are lots.

People who are complaining that they left episodes off this set have a somewhat valid gripe. The thing is, the Family Guy series is sold in “volumes” as opposed to “seasons” like other shows (this was primarily done because of the short length of the first two seasons (volume 1 DVD)). The problem is that this made the volumes be one number behind the seasons (volume 2 is season 3, volume 3 is season 4, etc). Now it seems they have decided to put a certain number of episodes in each set, regardless of the season they were on. Family Guy Volume 5 has most of season 5 (as according to the season episodes list on [...] except the final five episodes. The volume 6 set starts with those five episodes and goes into season six from there, which is why some season 6 episodes are missing. I suspect they may be doing this to bring the “volume numbers” to be the the same as the “season numbers” so there’s less confusion. I don’t know for sure. But I’m fairly confident that the missing episodes from this set will be on Volume 7. Hope this helps people. While I don’t necessarily trust the people who put out the DVDs, I do believe that Seth MacFarlane and the rest of the people behind the show would not allow the fans to lose out, especially sinc the fans are the reason the show came back with new episodes (a fact that MacFarlane always mentions).

I saw Sex Drive at a sneak preview. It’s a seemingly typical teen sex comedy in the vein of Superbad meets Road Trip. Zuckerman plays Ian, a young virgin with no luck with the ladies, a crush on his childhood friend Felicia (Crew), a jerk of an older brother (Marsden), and is best friends with an Austin Powers-esquire Casanova by the name of Lance (Duke). On the internet, he poses as a football player while courting a mysterious girl online. When the girl invites him to go “all the way”, he steals his brother’s GTO and heads to Knoxville with Felicia and Lance. Ian’s character has the usual nerdy teen virgin-in-a-movie problems: falls for the wrong girls, takes few risks, gets caught in embarrassing sexual situations. On the road trip, they run into a series of hilarious, awkward, and weird situations. And on the way, they discover that sex isn’t the most important thing, and that true love can be found in both odd and familiar places.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Sex Drive! Click Here

It’s not exactly stunningly original, but it’s still a hilarious film. The three leads do a pretty good job, Lance being a particularly funny character. Marsden and Green steal the show in all the scenes they’re in, and all of the characters in the film are interesting, even if most of them are stock characters. The script is also well-connected, with most of the characters being connected to the larger plot, and combines wit, ribaldry, and straight adult humor well. Every gag sequence gets big laughs, and the comedy never slows down or dies out. The internet cutaways are especially hilarious supplements.

It’s refreshing to see a genuinely adult comedy not coming from the Apatow crew or McKay and Ferrell. Although it lacks star leads and filmmakers and will probably drop under the radar, I definitely recommend Sex Drive to anyone looking for a big laughs.

Plenty to read about regarding this film out in the Internet world. The trailers have been playing in the store for a month now and the buzz has been positive (since no one got to see this in theaters). Analyzing a high budget teen/sex comedy for acting is pointless, so I will stick with the BD quality and extras.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Sex Drive! Click Here

The video and audio look and sound fine, typically the outer channels get used with the LARGE volume of songs played throughout; and some nice GTO throttlings. The special features have roughly 30 minutes of docus reviewing production and self loathing/lampooning of the cast: Marsden Dilemma & Duke of the Internet clips.

The big question: differences between the UR and R. Plenty to list. 20 extra minutes of gratuitous male and female nudity, longer takes of certain scenes (the two confident geeks verbiage, pool party, condom buying fiasco, left-in flubs, changed phrases, sex sounds [sheep, bjs, etc.]), most noticeably – CGI-imposed nudity in 20 or so random scenes with a graphic intro by the director/writer about what to expect in the UR version.

Overall, a funny film with plenty of comedian cameos, decent writing, love searching, and sexual awakenings (even in the Amish country). A worthwhile purchase for fans of the film plus they kept it all one on disc (everything is the same as the 2 disc DVD).

I’m going to be honest with you folks, if this western spoof about good-girls-turned-bankrobbers featured, let’s say, Cameron Diaz and Kate Beckinsale instead of Salma Hayek and Penelope Cruz, I wouldn’t have given it a second thought.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Bandidas! Click Here

Set in 1880s Mexico, Sara Sandoval (Salma Hayek), a banker’s daughter, and Maria Alvarez (Penelope Cruz), a poor farmer’s one, have nothing in common but their Mexican heritage and a desire for revenge on the American railroad interests who’ve sent a thug named Tyler Jackson (played country music superstar Dwight Yoakam) to steal the locals’ land, and in the process kill Sara’s father and seriously injure Maria’s.

You’ll have to do much suspension of disbelief and be in a goofy mood for this movie:

Buy,Download, Or Stream Bandidas! Click Here

On the run from Jackson’s men, Sara and Maria enlist the services of veteran bankrobber (Sam Shepard) to teach them all that he knows. Afterwards and bumbling their way through holdups, the ladies attempt to blackmail a Sherlock Holmes wannabe NYPD detective (an extremely miscast Steve Zahn), who is also the fiance of the railroad owner’s daughter; however, being at heart nice sweet gals, Sara and Maria instead resort to a much more effective style of ‘friendly persuasion’ to enlist the dorky-but-crafty New York cop.

BANDIDAS has its moments of cliff hangers and hilarious situations, but overall falls flat, leaving an ending which more than hints at an intended sequel. Still, I’ve wasted 2 hours on worse product. Salma Hayek’s beauty, Penelope Cruz’s grace, and a very cool and really smart horse didn’t make this movie so bad to watch after all.

Bandidas is the film where the two most famous latina stars of Hollywood, Penelope Cruz and Salma Hayek, team up as a dynamite cowgirl duo fighting evil in Mexico, 1888.

There has been a large negative buzz about this film which is a bit unfair. Bandidas is just not to be taken seriously and is just good old entertainment where you have to have your sense of humor switched on. If you are expecting a serious western-drama, you have to look someplace else.

The film, which was releashed in cinemas all over Europe in January and March 2006, wasn’t a huge hit. The thing with people was that they were expecting something without so much humour but did get that, which dissapointed them. The humour is indeed a bit too much sometimes, but there are some hilarious moments in the film that are absolutely enjoyable.

The chemistry between Cruz and Hayek is delicious and you can see in the way they are acting that they had a fun time on the set making the film. Next to Cruz and Hayek there is Steve Zahn. Zahn does what he does best: playing a comedic sidekick. He is funny and plays his part well. Dwight Yoakam feels a bit miscast in the film but he does an okay job as the main villian.

There is some drama in the film that feels a bit outnumberd compairing it with the comedic moments which gives the film a kind of messy feeling sometimes. That is too bad, but overall doesn’t bother you.

The film has been professionally made and looks good. The special effects, the lush Mexican locations and cameramovements are beautifully done which gives great cinematography. Also the music, composed by Eric Serra is very nice and gives some scenes a nice powerboost and a fun western flavour.

Still the best reason to buy the film are two elements: Cruz and Hayek. They are sexy, funny and make the film worth to take a look at. Some things are a bit over the top, but who cares: it entertains, and it is nice to kill 1 and a half hours of boredom and replace that with nice popcorn fun.

And most importantly: Bandidas leaves you with a smile on your face, and that is what entertainment is all about.

This machine works but is heavy, like other reviewers said. Myself and my coworker are each 6 foot tall men in good condition. We can barely put in 6 hours a day with the tool and that includes two half hour breaks to allow for muscles to stop spasming.

BUT–if used correctly, this tool does remove paint. It is slow, paint dust goes everywhere, and you must wear a respirator mask and a face shield.

Contrary to the instructions included with the tool…–read this carefully–There are little adjustable rails on the left and right side of the disc. The rails can be lowered and raised to adjust the angle of attack of the disc. I found that the “cutting” side (leading edge rail) of the grinder needs to be set to about 1/16 inch lower than the grinding disc and the back side (trailing edge rail) needs to be about 1/16 of an inch TALLER than the total depth of the paint you are removing. In my case I am removing approximately 1/8 inch of paint (typical for an 80 year old house). Therefore the trailing edge of the grinder needs to be set at about 3/16 higher than the disc surface. The measurements are made by laying a straight edge (I use a square) across the disc and raising and lowering the black rails to the appropriate height.

Plan on using an inconspicuous place on your house and practicing for about 2 or 3 hours until you get it right. Don’t give up. My first day was very frustrating. Lots of clogging. At first I could only use the tool for about 10 seconds before it totally gummed up. Uggh. But with practice, clogging (gumming) is actually quite minimal when you find the right “angle of attack” for your application. Gumming usually occurs when you hold the grinder in one place too long or try to cut too deeply in one pass. You can’t expect to realistically remove more than about 1/64 of an inch per pass, maybe even as little as 1/128 of an inch per pass. This equates to about 4-6 passes, sometimes up to 10 passes for severely cupped and warped wood. But this type of use allows for almost constant grinding with very little gumming. When the tool does gum up use a small, wooden-handled ice-pick to “pop” the gum chunks off of the grinding disc. A cleaning session takes about 1-2 minutes or even less. An occasional brushing with a wire brush helps prevent re-gumming on paint covered, problem spots on the disc. This technique works so well that I only change the disc when the teeth wear down and stop cutting effectively (4-8 hours of use, depending). I have only soaked the discs in mineral spirits one time and generally find it unnecessary.

Beware–this tool pulverizes the paint into a fine powder that goes everywhere. You will need ridiculous amounts of plastic drop cloths and bricks to hold them in place. Then you must sweep the powder at the end of each day. The amount that you collect is astounding. You can expect to collect about 10-20 gallons of paint powder from an average, 3BR/2Bath, one level home. This must be done for both legal and ethical reasons. Would you actually dump 10-20 gallons of lead and enamel paint into your yard?

In closing–this tool works great. It is a bear to use. You must use scaffolding. It is slow. Expect about three weeks of all day work to get your old house scraped and ready to prime. Buy lots of discs, about 10 for an average size house. Use only the 24 grit as the discs wear out and you need all the cutting power you can get. But beware as a new 24 grit disc cuts viciously and leaves severe swirl marks. But after about 10 minutes of use it wears down to a manageable level.

If you can afford it–replace your siding. New poplar siding is about 15 cents a foot (in 2005. Prices fluctuate) in the US. Materials for an average home would cost about $4,000. Plus lots of labor. Vinyl siding is usually a poor choice. It costs $5,000, looks fake, and causes weird moisture issues between the vinyl and the old siding.

But if you, like me, have little money and lots of time–this is the tool for you.

(note: I post my reviews because I take them seriously and I take other people’s seriously as well. Please take the time to rate my review so I can do a better job in the future. Thanks :) ).

Restoring a 1875 Victorian has a true challenge. The outside of our house is lap siding (1″x8″) and has not painted for over 20 years. After using everthing possible to remove the old finish including sanding, scraping and sand blasting, I tried the Porter Cable 7403P Power Paint. After a little work and finally reading the limited directions, I was able to remove numerous layers of paint with minimal effort. The final finish was perfect to apply a good primer coat before the final finish. The Power Paint Remover saved the day. Things to consider using the 7403P. 1)If sanding lead based paint, wear proper breathing equipment. 2)Keep the rpm’s of the 7403P low so that the paint does not melt on the sanding disk, which is difficult at to remove. 3)Take your time..the 7403P is slightly heavy and working over your head is difficult. This is componded if you are working off a ladder.

With a little work, the 7403P is a very versitale piece of equipment and can handle a wide range of projects for both the professional and the amature.

After spending hours trying to remove layers on our 124 year old farm house, and after reading the reviews I purchased the Porter Cable Power Paint Remover. I used it today for the first time. Last weekend I spent six hours on one four sided pillar on the front porch. The process involved scraping and sanding with a high speed random orbital sander with 80 grit disk. This evening I used the Power Paint Remover on the next piller (total of five). The process took a total of about 15 minutes to have the entire pillar down to bear wood, unreal. I’m looking forward to tackling the rest of the house. I am sure that this unit will pay for itself just in the cost of the lumber that I was going to buy to replace old molding just because the paint was too thick and cracked. Now I am sure that I’ll be able to just go down to the bear wood with no time or effort.

I had to stop shortly after starting to use this unit and run down to the hardware store to purchase a good quality dual filtered respirator mask, the unit puts out the removed paint big time in a very fine dusk. A good shop vac is needed to clean up afterwards. Safety goggles are a must. I love it. A big 5 STARS +++++

You have to be looking right straight dead on with this thing! The contrast and brightness is horrible. Hard to find a happy medium. You riase the brightness, becuase dark scenes look “silver” and are not viewable. The a scene with a lot of white in it comes on and the whole thing is washed out.

Really would stay away from this one.

im planning to get another one for my hubby for his truck my kid like it a ot and we are enjoy in it..thanks we recommend the site to everybody
