Years before “Citizen Kane” John Ford revolutionized the language of American cinema with “The Informer”. Atmosphere plays as much a character here as the actors themselves. Shadows, darkness, and fog forbode the doom of Gyppo Nolan(Victor McLaglen) as much as his guilty conscience for informing to the Black and Tans on his former brother in arms. This is a literate film that explores the psyche of a barely literate man. Gyppo ostensibly informs on Frankie McPhillip (Wallace Ford) to gain passage to America for himself and his streetwalker girlfriend(Heather Angel). The bloodmoney proves too much of a cross to bear so he literally gives it away to ease his burning guilt. This proves his undoing as the scent of his illgotten gains attracts the Republican Army to his trail of deceit. McLaglen won an Oscar for one of great performances in American screen history. McLaglen assays all the complexities of a seeming simpleton who commits the unthinkable and makes him sympathetic and ultimately worthy of redemption. “The Informer” is ultimately a film that will transcend the ages because it’s themes are as universal today as they were in 1935.

my estimate is that in my life ive seen in excess of 3000 movies, yet im bewildered at the number of acknowledged classics ive missed. so cross another off the list. john ford helmed this claustrophobic character study of one day in the life of a brute (no negatives attached to the word here) who betrays his best friend for money and learns to live (& die) with the results of his actions. victor mclaglen gives a perfect performance in the title role, and anyone who is accustomed to the expanses of fords monument valley films will be amazed at what he accomplishes with minimal, nearly expressionistic sets. great movie.

Actual detective shows are kind of hard to find now — let alone a funny, well-written detective series with a hilarious twist. That’s where “Psych” comes on, on the heels of “Monk.” While it could use a bit more ironing, this clever series does a good job blending comedy and mystery, and gives us some lovably fradulent guys to follow the adventures of.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Psych – The Complete First Season! Click Here

Shawn Spencer (James Roday) was trained to be ultra-observant and intelligent by his strict, humorless father Henry (Corbin Bernsen), who wanted him to be a cop. And though he is determined never to be a cop (he doesn’t even have a steady job), Shawn can glimpse clues and details that nobody else notices — even the police.

But it backfires when he reports his observations to the police, and is arrested as a suspect. To save himself, Shawn pretends to be a psychic — and the gimmick works so well that he decides to do it professionally. So he drags his very reluctant pal Gus (Dulé Hill) out of a boring job, and they end up regularly hired by the police chief, despite the skepticism of Carl Lassiter (Timothy Omundson), who doesn’t buy their act.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Psych – The Complete First Season! Click Here

And so they set out into a variety of cases: death at a spelling bee, a haunting at a sorority house, a wedding tainted by theft and murder, a ghostly stalking, a cat used as a witness, Civil war reenactments, a comic book convention (where they mess with George Takei’s head), alien abductions, speed dating, underground poker, and organizing a surprise birthday party for Lassiter.

Most shows aren’t really able to strike a balance between comedy and mystery, but “Psych” does. The mysteries are light and fun, and the people making it actually seem to be enjoying themselves — no hardcore crimes, gore and grimness. That’s what makes it so enjoyable.

The mysteries are well done, but each one has enough funny dialogue (”My name is Ichabod Fletchman, Sticky-Icky to my boys”) and kookiness to keep it from ever being dull. Between kooky mysteries — usually with Shawn flailing around in his pseudo-mystical act — we get to see what turned him into such a weirdo, and his current relationship with his sarcastic father.

There is a slight flaw, though — a disproportionate number of the guilty parties seem to be pretty young women. Fortunately this starts lessening as the season goes on. The mysteries get progressively tighter, and the writing cleverer and funnier (”I’m never doing anything blindly with you again! I learned that at the Mexican border. Twice!”).

Roday is hilarious and brilliant — charming, funny, likable, pleasant, and completely devoid of any dignity (”IIIIII hear a voice!”), with some great full-body acting. Shawn is one of those people who is half luck and half talent; no matter how outragous he gets, things somehow always work out.

Hill is equally great as his intelligent, responsible, geeky sidekick who tries to keep them out of serious trouble, while the crusty Timothy Omundson and tentative love interest Maggie Lawson round off the cast. Corbin Bernsen also makes regular appearances as Shawn’s dad, who considers his son a walking freakshow.

“Psych’s” first season is a delightfully frothy mix of comedy and mystery, with solid scripting and likable characters. Definitely a good show to keep an eye on.

Shawn Spencer (James Roday) is a loser. He’s drifted from job to job ever since graduating from high school. The one thing he absolutely knows he doesn’t want to do is become a cop. That’s what his dad (Corbin Bernsen) has been training him to do since he was a little kid. Growing up, he learned how to observe every little detail at a glance.

Even though Shawn has no desire to be a cop, he can’t stop himself from calling in tips to the local police based on news reports he sees. After one such tip, he finds himself under suspicion for knowing too much. He quickly talks his way out of it by pretending to be a psychic. In fact, he’s so convincing, Chief Vick (Kirsten Nelson) hires him on a part time basis to help with difficult cases.

Shawn is usually teamed up with Detectives Lassiter (Timothy Omundson) and O’Hara (Maggie Lawson). Lassiter doesn’t believe a word Shawn says and usually tries to trip him up. O’Hara is skeptical but can’t deny what she sees Shawn pull off time after time.

Also along for the ride is Shawn’s best friend Gus (Dule Hill). Gus is reluctant to get involved in the cases, but Shawn drags him in anyway. And the two have to deal with plenty of exciting cases. There’s a heir who is kidnapped, murders at a spelling bee and a comic convention, dastardly deeds at a high society wedding, and an urban legend that may be repeating itself.

This show is a blend of comedy and mystery. It airs right after Monk on USA, and is a perfect fit. While that show is often melancholy, this one is high energy. In fact, sometimes, it’s a bit too over the top. But most of the time it’s fun.

As with many shows, it took a little while to hit its stride. The first few mysteries are rather weak and the focus is on Shawn doing his fake psychic thing. When the show returned from hiatus with “Forget Me Not,” (easily my favorite of the season) it found the right balance. The show is still hilarious but the mysteries are much tighter.

And the comedy has something for everyone. It’s got fast, witty dialog, absurd situations, and full body slapstick.

The DVD set is packed with lots of extras. There are plenty of deleted scenes and one or two commentaries per disc. The first disc contains two versions of the pilot, behind the scenes segments, and some hilarious bloopers. My only real complaint with the set is the lack of episode descriptions. The titles are given, but they don’t always trigger my memory as to what the episode itself is about.

The show took a while to find its footing. But once it did, it became lots of fun.

….it was good for Warner Bros. to finally release Supergirl under its own label, after being previously released by Anchor Bay. Interesting, seeing as WB abandoned the film as a whole during its 1984 theatrical release.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Supergirl! Click Here

The film is virtually the same transfer of the international version as used on the Anchor Bay release, along with the commentary track by Bosco and Szwarc. (Interestingly, WB uses the famed John Williams Superman theme on the menu screens, despite the theme not being used in the film.)

The film was one of the most underappreciated entries of 1984, but is really worth watching, and only in the famed “international version”, and not in the heavily butchered theatrical version, which will hopefully never see the light of day on DVD ever. The film focuses heavily on fantasy aspects, with most of the Sci-fi aspects that made the whole Superman franchise.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Supergirl! Click Here

All in all, this DVD as a whole allows WB to make amends for giving up on this film before it ever got out of the gate. Hopefully, WB can go in when we see the next round of DVD tie-ins in 09 when the next Superman movie comes out, and revisit this film and even give us the “Director’s Cut” with a more wider release than the utterly expensive and limited edition that Anchor Bay gave us.

I really did enjoy this movie even though like many have said there are holes in it! Slater is beautiful and brilliant in this movie! She could truly bring a great sense of determination and innocent curiousity of her surroundings as Supergirl! I wished though the story could have been done better because she probably would have made more sequels, and be typecast forever as Supergirl! Well, what am I saying she already is! Even though the characters could have been created a lot more better(Dunaway as a true example), you can’t help but enjoy them, and be entertained!

I’m very glad that Disney has finally decided to listen to the fans and get to releasing these classic cartoons. I bought the first set, and will definitely buy this one. Only problem for me is I think I’ve seen many of the episodes so much I’ve burned out on them! But don’t let that spoil it for you :)

Darkwing Duck is back with 27 more episodes on three discs. And he’s just as egotistical as ever.

For those unfamiliar, this cartoon follows the misadventures of Darkwing Duck, crime fighter in the city of St. Canard. There he faces such villains as Quackerjack, a demented toy maker, Megavolt, an eltrocharged duck, Negaduck, a manifestation of his evil side, and the organization F.O.W.L. And he does it all with his trusty gas gun and the help of his sidekick Launchpad and his daughter Gosalyn.

The episodes in this set contain some real winners. We get the origin of Liquidator, easily my favorite villain from the series. Neighbors the Muddlefoots head to a strange town with mutant cabbages. We get two time travel adventures, one that takes us back to the middle ages and one that takes us to a future ruled by a militant Darkwing. DW even must face off again death himself after he crashes while not wearing his helmet.

This show is so incredibly fun, and these episodes are no different. They are filled with mystery and adventure, yet also combine plenty of laughs. I especially enjoy their pun filled episodes, but their spoofs are just as fun. I’ll admit a couple were slightly creepy. And the shows are filled with all the cartoon violence you can handle.

As with the first set, the episodes are in original aired order, which means they are in random order. It’s rather hard to follow any storyline as character relationships seem to change at will as a result. There are also no extras, but the picture and sound are great.

These shows are great whether you want a laugh or a thrill. If you missed this show when it was on TV, jump on the chance to own the discs now.

MOONRAKER is okay and has a couple of good moments. The locations are beautiful ;007 travels to California,Venice,Brazil and Outer Space!Unfortunatly, this eleventh entry in the Bond series remains underrated and was never taken to heart by most fans.A plot that was definetly inspired by Star Wars and actors who do not seem to take their roles seriously may have something to do with it. Dr Holly Goodhead(Lois Chiles) is pretty but never had a status as a memorable Bond girl. Hugo Drax(Michael Longsdale) is not a classic example of a head villain. However,Jaws(Richard Kiel) adds flavor to this movie.Despite mixed reviews, MOONRAKER was one of the most grossing James Bond films of all time.I enjoy this movie once in a while, and I find it superior to the two first Roger Moore films(LIVE AND LET DIE and THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN) but inferior to FOR YOUR EYES ONLY, THE SPY WHO LOVED ME,and A VIEW TO A KILL.The theme song by Shirley Bassey is not bad.Worth a look, but dont have too many high expectations……….

This screen is starting to look like the metaphorical equivalent of the sweet space battle at the end of this breathtaking achievement of cinematic perfection. Well, I’m here to shoot a few of my own lasers now, this movie totally kicks a$$. Let’s start with the opening song, which I think is easily in the top 3 of all time best Bond openers.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Moonraker! Click Here

So there’s this frog named Drax who wants to kill everyone on Earth, and start from scratch with his own breeding stock of beautiful people. The genocide of the ugly people of Earth comes by virtue of a space delivered disease, or nerve agent, or something equally superfluous, which Drax of course also manufactures.

I have a theory which goes a little something like this: When a man reaches a certain level of wealth, he naturally begins to contemplate some dimension of world conquest. The uber-villains Bond is often pitted against seem to pan this theory out nicely, begging the question, when will 007 take on Dick Cheney, Bill Gates, or Ronald McDonald?

Buy,Download, Or Stream Moonraker! Click Here

So in comes old pervy Bond to salivate all over the dames, karate chop some mouth brething henchmen, and get all up in Drax’s grille. Drax, for is his part, is no sllouch though. The man is straight evil, but his taste in women, crib’s, and lasers is beyond reproach. I suppose because I grew up with Roger Moore playing Bond, I get the best of both worlds, because Connery and Moore are both Bond to me.

Now, in a movie which already has so much to offer the entertainment starved masses, we see the return of super hencmen JAWS. That alone should raise a pulse or two, because this guy is emma effin indestrutable. You can shoot him in the face, throw him out of an airplane, drop him in a tank full of ill tempered sharks, drop his a$$ from outerspace, and he doesn’t die. Why can’t we unleash this cat in Iraq?

So anyway, Bond figures Drax out, and its on. As I have previously alluded to, there is a magnificent space battle involving cats floating around in space shooting lasers, and invading space stations like that’s all they got paid to do. Wow, if it get’s any better than this they’ll start taxing us for it.

It is disappointing to see that they have decided to split up Season 2, obviously taking a step out of the pages of the Battlestar Galactica releases. I won’t be surprised if more companies begin to follow suit.

However, being a huge Big Valley fan for nearly thirty years, I have still gone ahead and purchased it. There should be 15 episodes in this first volume since each season of the Big Valley had 30 episodes. Fifteen episodes is still a fair amount compared with today’s shows that put out 22 per season.

The second season of the Big Valley continues the story of the Barkleys. Season 2 is more solidified than the first season, even though the first season is very good.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Big Valley – Season 2, Volume 1! Click Here

It contains the 2-part episode “Legend of a General” where Heath is taken prisoner in Mexico, and only the help of an old Mexican general, can help the Barkleys get him back.

There’s also “Caesar’s Wife” in which, daring for its time, addresses a step-mother who makes advances toward her husband’s son.

“The Velvet Trap” finds unsuspecting Nick falling in love with a woman who is, in fact, the girlfriend of a notorious outlaw and how she attempts to use Nick to get rid of a bounty hunter who is trying to track down the dangerous Jack Floyd.

They also added The Big Valley’s first comedic episode in “The Great Safe Robbery” in which three bumbling brothers attempt to steal and rob a safe from a train depot. It’s truly hilarious.

There is also the classic Big Valley episode, “Last Stage to Salt Flats” which finds the family (except Nick and Audra) stranded in the middle of the desert after their stagecoach is robbed.

All of the episodes in the season and in this volume are worth watching, especially since they will be unedited, and likely not seen by many viewers since they first aired, due to commercial time.

Nick looks as sharp as ever in his black leather vest, gloves, and large brown hat. He’s also as fiesty and tempermental as ever, with plenty of great brawls for him to get into. The episode, “The Iron Box” shows how angry he can get when someone in his family is attacked or threatened. This is evident when Heath is tortured and brutalized by a demented prison warden, and Nick must figure out a way to save his brother when he is placed a sweat box.

Victoria begins having some adventures and getting out of the house as Barbara Stanwyck insisted that Victoria have some stories not centered around wearing dresses and answering the door.

This is a great show and a terrific season, even if you are only getting half, I think it’s worth it. They simply don’t make westerns or T.V. shows like this with such great adventure stories as this. Enjoy fifteen more episodes with California’s favorite matriarchal family.

“Big Valley” reruns were my childhood favorite, and after buying this set and season one, I can say the show lives up to my memories. It would be a shame if Fox stopped releasing the DVDs–which brings me to the info:

After searching for a way to complain about the price-gouging on season two, I finally contacted a site that monitors DVD releases. They said sales of season one were poor and that Fox raised the price to recoup their losses. But since this half-set isn’t selling well either, they probably won’t release the rest.

Maybe if all the people who bought season one decide to buy this set they’ll release more. Maybe not. Personally, I think Fox bungled the whole thing. When it comes to short-run series (Big Valley only ran four seasons), it makes more sense to release the complete series (with extras) at a premium price. Most fans would pay more up front to get the whole series and not have to worry about studios dropping the project. As it is, Fox has done nothing but shortchange consumers and undermine its own profits.

Finally we get to see Esther Williams flicks in radiant colors and updated sound! Not that the DVD transfers are perfect, Criterion-league: there are specks and scratches from time to time, and blacks tend to bleed, particularly in the early ones (e.g. Bathing Beauty). But what a pleasure it is to have this joyful entertainement back, put together with care and intelligence. There’s bonus material galore, though not all of it dealing with the star.

Buy,Download, Or Stream TCM Spotlight – Esther Williams, Vol. 1! Click Here

Included in the Bathing Beauty disc is a substantial interview Ms. Williams did with Robert Osborne for Turner Classic Movies. Ms. Williams comes across as somebody who has always been level headed, with a realistic view of life, aware of alternatives and skeptical of show-biz, always marveled at her good fortune (wondering when it would end), with the self-assurance gained from awareness of her personal worth. Nothing delusional there: underneath the Hollywood glamour, throughout her career and beyond, she has retained the mindset and integrity of a committed, champion athlete, i.e., it’s the hard work, constancy and achievement that count, not the glitz or the noise (she was slated to participate in the 1940 Olympics had WWII not interfered). All these personal qualities come across in her films, and probably made her a star, unique in her genre. Before, during and after, there was no other. Though she was a fine craftsman and learned her trade well as an actress, she really only played one character, Esther Williams. Audiences flocked to “Esther Williams movies,” with all fantasy such would entail (of course, production values count). It is difficult not to feel that she’d be a great friend to have. During the interview Robert Osborne can barely contain his delight.

Suspend disbelief, just enjoy. I hope we don’t have to wait as long for Volume 2, which would include Million Dollar Mermaid and Easy to Love.

Buy,Download, Or Stream TCM Spotlight – Esther Williams, Vol. 1! Click Here

For fans, I would also recommend reading her down-to-earth autobiography.

Seriously…when I think of actors / actresses who are L-O-N-G overdue for the DVD treatment, Esther Williams is at the top of the list. Kudos to TCM for putting 5 of Ms. Williams’ amazing films…including my all-time favorite “On An Island With You”…in an affordable box set. I’m sure Volume 2 will be greeted with equal enthusiasm by her fans and I know I’ll pre-order it the minute it’s available.

So what’s the big deal? Aside from the legendary aquatics and the intricately choreographed numbers, the films of Esther Williams are key examples of “They Don’t Make Movies Like That Anymore” movies. They don’t, and they can’t, because the world is really a different place. The simplicity and innocence and sweetness are qualities that exist in a readically different form in 2007.

If your idea of cinematic romance is Tom Cruise telling Renée Zellweger that she “completes” him, or Renée telling Tom that he “had her at hello,” these might not be the right films for you. They’re more geniune, more honest, and warmer. They represent the absolute best that MGM had to offer.

While “On An Island With You” may not be Ms. Williams’ signature film, it has all of the elements that made her films great. Ricardo Montalban, dressed in full navy uniform, strumming a guitar under a tropical tree and crooning the opening theme as Esther swims in a shady lagoon? Genius! The four-way, star-crossed lovers subplot featuring Williams, Montalban, Peter Lawford and Cyd Charisse? The Montalban / Charisse dance number? Jimmy Durante and Xavier Cugat? What’s NOT to like in this movie?

The other four films are just as good, but “Island” is a personal favorite.

Thanks to TCM. Can’t wait to see which films are included in Volume 2.

Until CHICAGO reenergized the movie musical genre, this musical version of Charles Dickens’ immortal “Oliver Twist” was widely regarded as one of the last of the great movie musicals. Indeed, with its high-energy performances, infectious music, steady direction by Sir Carol Reed and glorious sets, this movie won the 1968 Best Picture Oscar over such formidable competition as THE LION IN WINTER, CHARLEY, and FUNNY GIRL.

Of course, most people are familiar with the classic story of young Oliver Twist, whose mother dies giving him birth and is forced to be raised under the cruel supervision of the English workhouse officials. When he dares beg for more than his meager ration of gruel, the youngster is apprenticed to an undertaker and his extremely nasty family. After escaping this hostile environment, he finds himself taken in by the roguish Fagin, the Artful Dodger(Fagin’s best pupil), and the rest of his band of young pickpockets. In time, however, Oliver will find his home, but not before dealing with the likes of the brutal Bill Sikes with the help of Sike’s sympathetic lover, Nancy, and the kindly Mr. Brownlow.

As musical films go, it is hard to fault the wonderful casting in this film. Mark Lester makes a perfectly, if maybe overly, innocent Oliver, while Jack Wild is a delight as the rascally Artful Dodger. Shanie Wallis is heart-rending as the tragic Nancy. Oliver Reed (Sir Carol’s nephew) is truly scary as the menacing Bill Sikes. Harry Secombe displays a glorious tenor in the comic role of Mr. Bumble, the beadle of the workhouse. However, it is Ron Moody’s fantastic performance of the rascally Fagin that steals this movie. It is not surprising, when you consider that he created the role when the musical was first produced in London. Of course, the character itself has gone quite a change from Dickens’ original, going from the debatably nasty anti-Semitic portrait of the novel to that of a lovable, if sneaky, eccentric. Indeed, Moody’s excellent portrayal would set the tone for almost all future performances of the role to date, including those of such actors as George C. Scott and Richard Dreyfus, among others.

Some Dickens fans may quibble about the liberties taken with the book, from the softening of Fagin to the elimination of Oliver’s evil step-brother Monks from the storyline. And it isn’t a perfect film by any means. (The child singer who dubbed Mark Lester’s songs sounds like she’s in an echo chamber of some sort, which makes Oliver’s singing a jarring contrast to the rest of the cast.) But, as a musical film, it is a wonderful entertainment and superb introduction to the classic story. As a result, this is one musical that I would DEFINITELY recommend.

The movie musical was on its way out by the time ‘Oliver!’ hit theaters in 1968. Happily, this marvelously fun and entertaining film swept the Oscars and earns my vote for the best musical of the 60s (although ‘The Music Man’ ranks a close second). Mark Lester is adorable in the title role and Jack Wild is a kick as the mischievious Artful Dodger. Then there’s Ron Moody recreating his stage role as the villainous (but still likable) Fagin. He’s not exactly the same character created by Charles Dickens but he’s memorable just the same. And Shani Wallis’ Nancy along with Oliver Reed’s Bill Sikes give the film some real dramatic punch. The production design strikingly recreates the feel and flavor of mid-19th century London. And the songs which include ‘Consider Yourself’ and ‘Oom Pah Pah’ are the icing on the cake. Do your family a great favor and add this timeless treat to your DVD collection.

The second Holiday to be represented in the collection of “themed” Spongebob DVDs, “Christmas”, includes another 10 episodes (one is double the length) of pure aquatic fun! You may ask why I gave it three stars then? Only because there is a better way to obtain Spongebob on DVD and in his entirety – Season Sets! As a stand alone DVD, you can’t say much bad about any of the compilation discs of Spongebob, but the fact that the complete season sets are being released makes them less special than they used to be, unecessary really. “Christmas”, like the previous “Halloween” collection includes only one episode actually set on the holiday, in this case the double length “Christmas Who?” where Santa decides not to show on Christmas in Bikini Bottom. The only other two even closely related are “Snowball Effect” and “Survival of the Idiots” because of snow basically. It doesn’t really matter because all the episodes are great. Watch as Spongebob sells candy bars with Patrick, gets lost with Squidward, and annoys everyone (more than usual!) with a pair of very squeaky boots! Youth Football Practice – Assessing Your Talent Levels

February 4th, 2010 by sawyer9418844

Many coaches like to know what kinds of kids I have to work with so they can produce comparisons with what they have. My guess is our experiences are fairly similar.

FASST Peek

While running our FASST program it’s hard not to assume a examine at a few of the original players coming in. Like most of you, looking at the novel players is like opening a box of chocolates, you are always hopeful, but you never know what you are going to pick up. When your teams have expansive gaps to beget, those hopeful thoughts can almost be thoughts of desperation.

As many of you know I’m head coaching 3 teams this season for a variety of reasons, an age 7-9 team, an age 10-11 team and an age 12-13 team. Every team has it’s hold fresh strengths, weaknesses, personality and needs. All three of these teams are incredibly different from one another.

Age 7-9 Team

Here is how next years squads stack up:

The age 7-9 team finished 7-2 but really came on strong at the extinguish, winning 7 games in a row. At seasons ruin we were averaging about 30 points a game and no one wanted to play us. This was the youngest team in the league and all but 3 of our players were imprint unique to youth football. All of the players on this team signed up to play again but a few mature out to the next age bracket.

We have our entire starting offensive line serve and all are “stripers” meaning they are over the running encourage weight. This is a very fresh group and we even have 2 recent kids that are ’striper” weight as well. We are almost always one of the smallest teams in the league, so this will be a welcome change. We have our starting Wingback support, but will depart him to “Quarterback” as he did collect a few snaps at that region last season and can handle the place. All of our other starting running backs moved up, so that will be our challenge. About 70% of our touchdown scoring moved up to the next age group. On defense we lost one starting defensive demolish, one starting linebacker and one starting corner. While this sounds like a lot, it isn’t anything compared to what we had to work with last year with this group, they were almost all rookies. We have a right nice coaching staff with this group including 3 returners. This team should be very solid and has potential to be one of the better offensive lines I’ve coached. We will need more out of our just tight waste on this team or score a replacement. If we fetch a descent blocking relieve and an average wingback and fullback we should be able to average about 40 points a game with this group.

Age 10-11 Team

The age 10-11 team had every player but 1 heed aid up to play again. This team went 9-1 last season, “mercy ruling” 9 opponents. Unfortunately, most of the starters from this team are provocative up to the age 12-13 team. There are impartial 6 players help on this team and only 2 were starters. With the younger players enchanting up, we can gain a number of holes, but we will be by far the smallest team in the league with objective 1 “striped” player. All of our backs are under 90 pounds and we will have at least 10 rookie players on this team. Over 90% of the touchdowns scored on this team moved up to the older group. The coaching staff is favorable but thin, objective 1 coach with lots of experience, a 2nd year coach, a rookie coach and me. Needless to say this will be one of my biggest challenges in my 15 years of coaching youth football. We are petite and lifeless and will have small experience in an age bracket elephantine of teams that will be remarkable bigger, better and more experienced than us. I care for these kinds of challenges and observe forward to coaching these kids probably more than the other 2 teams. My guess my very best wretchedness can at best yield a .500 season.

Age 12-13 Team

The age 12-13 team will have descent experience, with fair 5 rookie players on it. We again will be the smallest team in the league with impartial 1 “striped” player. This group has lost honest 2 games in the last 4 years so there is nice continuity and experience but no size. We will be the youngest team in the league at this age group, with honest 6 kids that are 13 years frail. For those of you that have coached youth football, you know how well-known it is to have superior numbers at the top age in the age bracket. However these kids have consistently set up 35 points per game, so our expectations are high. We need some tight ends, an offensive lineman, a safety and some descent backup running backs. The coaching staff on this team is made up entirely of coaches that have coached with us for the last 3-4 years, a nice group. While we will be the youngest and smallest team in this age bracket, and have a few holes to bear, our expectations will be high for this team.

Why section This Information?

Why am I sharing this with you? I contemplate it’s distinguished for you to know I peaceful am a hands on youth football coach. What I’m imparting to you I’m field testing with my absorb teams. What I’m suggesting to you is working now in 2008 it isn’t something that worked help in 1992. I remember wait on in 2000 when I took my fracture from coaching to grow my fledgling youth football program. I took that time to notice the best and worst programs in the country to near up with a system that would allow our teams to compete, relatively talent independent. During that time, I was often asking my coaches to do things that were not doable. Because I wasn’t in the trenches I was a bit out of touch, even though I was at all the practices and games. I can sing you that isn’t the case now, I’m having many of the same thoughts and concerns you are feeling factual now and anxiously looking at what’s in my box of chocolates.
