It’s as if Darren Aronofsky filmed your very possess worst nightmare, assuming you had anything to do with drugs or drug addicts. If ever a viewer wondered about the interior site of being of drug addiction, this is the movie for you. Aronofsky dilapidated Hubert Selby Jr.’s book and screenplay as his source material and the source material is lustrous.

I care for movies which search for surreal states. This must arrive in portion from my fascination with surrealist art. Aronofsky’s film probably owes more to the unhurried Salvador Dali than to any other film director. I’m also fascinated by movies which recede as if you were viewing them in a dream dwelling. We do exhaust a expansive deal of our lives in a dream spot and study life from an entirely different perspective in REM time. Aronofsky seems to understand this very well. Aronofsky and Selby, in intended irony, load their characters with dreams of their enjoy which are destined to remain unfilled in colossal share because of their drug addictions.

Ellen Burstyn plays the easiest addict to understand and she does her usual masterful job. She wants to lose weight so takes diet pills (race) to do so. Her dream is to be on tv which is what spurs her to the race. Her son Harry, his girlfriend Marion, and his best friend Tyrone consume the outright illegal street drugs and dream of becoming gigantic drug dealers instead of indecent level pushers. On the design to drug fortune, they themselves become addicted.

Jared Leto as the son Harry Goldfarb does a first rate acting job. Frankly, prior to this role, I didn’t reflect he had any acting talent. There is a growing plight with his injection infected arm which will remain visually with you long after the movie is over. Jennifer Connelly as Marion Silver is every bit as unbelievable as Burstyn in this film. She is Harry’s girlfriend, soon to enter a life of degradation due to the nightmarish descent into drugs.

Because this film is so visual, it is an ideal one for seeing in the best possible format available. Blue-ray was invented for honest this kind of film.

This film is rated #65 on the IMDb list of the best films ever. I’ll confine my comments to the quality of the disc itself. I’m fairly picky, and I catch both the audio and video quality to be quite first-rate. The shaded levels, color saturation, disagreement and sharpness are all genuine. The sound in both lossless and lossey audio is also marvelous. I utilize high-end equipment and I can’t fault the technical aspects of this release. Don’t let the indecent note apprehension you…this disc is a bargain.

Sequels traditional to be about remaking the same film again and again (remember “Friday The 13th” or “Nightmare on Elm Street”? ) with minor variations so the audience gets their fix. John Carpenter, Kurt Russell and Debra Hill inverted the paradigmn reprising the best elements from “Run from Fresh York” while introducing a heavy dose of satire aimed squarely at the True Majority and groups of that nature. While not as memorable as that film, “Speed from L. A.” takes perfect aim at liberal Hollywood, the conservative religious good, sequels and skewers them all slow on most of the time.

Snake Plissken is serve in peril. Captured again he’s set aside into the service of national security against his will. It seems a diagram that can detonate orbital nuclear devices has been stolen by the President’s daughter and delivered into the hands of a self styled rebel leader named Cuervo Jones (George Corraface) in what’s left of Southern California. Cuervo plans on using this blueprint against the United States. Plissken is sent to the island of Los Angeles to retreive the diagram. Yes, folks the Mountainous ONE finally hit and a vast section of the Los Angeles basin dropped into the ocean like a ten ton weight while the remainder floats off the hover of the United States making the perfect station to deport people who don’t have high legal fiber or generally tick off the President for life (Cliff Robertson in a curved performance) . Infected by a deadly designer virus that makes Ebola seem like the flu, Snake has no choice but to consume the job of retrieving. Malloy (Stacy Keach stepping in for the leisurely Lee Van Cleef) and Brazen (the fine Michelle Forbes unhurried of “Star Trek: The Next Generation”, “Homicide: Life on the Streets” and the second season of “24″) provide Snake with his only link to the outside world.

Along the map Snake meets surfers (Peter Fonda), the Surgeon General of Beverly Hills (Bruce Campbell in a hilarious role that truly is the highlight of the movie) in pursuit of the blueprint. Oh and once again Snake has one of those mountainous digital watches attached to his wrist to remind him his days are numbered if he doesn’t secure the scheme encourage in time. Filled with tremendous cameos by Steve Buscemi (as Arrangement to the Stars Eddie), B-movie queen Pam Grier (as Hershe Las Palmas), Italian beauty Valerie Golino, the slow Paul Bartel, Issac Hayes (in a cameo) and Robert Carradine “Rush from L.A.” objective might be Carpenter’s most undervalued film (along with the enormous satire “They Live”) .

The weakest link in the film turns out to be the uneven visual effects done by Disney’s Buena Vista Visual Effects. Some of the opticals explore colossal particularly the scenes where Los Angeles gets hit by the 9.6 earthquake. The sequences bright the mini-sub and some of the helicopters observe as if they were taken from computer games. While computer graphics were unexcited developing at the time, I’m surprised that Disney’s effects house wasn’t able to approach up with more convincing visuals for this sequence. Calm, while they aren’t what they could be they’re not the focus of the tale either and are a ravishing minor pickle. Many of the best effects work quite well. The production form by Lawrence G. Paull (”Blade Runner”, “Wait On to the Future”, “Predator 2″) gives the film a powerful bigger examine than the budget the film had (it cost roughly $50 million to form including the marketing section of the budget) . A bit of trivia about the film. Russell appears wearing the same costume he had for the first film at the beginning. Russell also made all the basketball shots seen in the climatic game himself.

Presented in its recent widescreen format with a trailer as the only extra, this was released when Paramount was playing secure up in releasing product for the DVD market. The image quality is exceptionally pleasurable with tall color reproduction and a nearly flawless print (particularly when compared to the remastered re-release of “Speed from Recent York”) with a nice 5.1 sound mix.

It’s too unpleasant this hasn’t been reissued with extras (such as a commentary from Carpenter and Russell and one or two featurettes. Heck, there’s got to be a promo allotment somewhere in Paramount’s vault about this as I seem to remember one being released to promote it) because, while isn’t quite up to “Race from Recent York”, “Sprint from L.A.” is detached a memorable sequel with enough satire, parody and humor laced moments to hold fans of the modern tickled. Hopefully one of these days this minor Carpenter classic will gather the re-evaluation it deserves.

When I first saw this film in the theaters, I really didn’t like it. In fact, I was elegant let down! I had grown up with Hasten From Fresh York, and to my fright, John Carpenter remade his acquire film! I’m not kidding, REMADE it. Upright down to Snake getting shot in the leg and limping for the last half of the film. Years later I revaluated my view. You can’t effect a film as corny as this on accident, especially if you’re a musty director like John Carpenter; It had to be done on purpose. I’ve read numerous interviews over the years and have found out two things, and I judge these two things are the reason this film ended up the map it did. First, John Carpenter hates sequels. He never wanted to create sequels to his films. He never wanted a sequel to Halloween(let alone six! That’s why he produced Halloween 3 which people hated so grand, coz he was trying to win this series in a different direction and not retread the whole Michael Myers thing) . I also understand that both Carpenter and Kurt Russell were under alot of studio pressure to perform this film. I don’t know what kind of favor Carpenter owed the studio, but he made this film. And my theory is that he made this film intentionally abominable to say to the studio, “There, I made the stinking sequel you wanted, don’t ask me to do it again!” I mean really, if he had wanted to fabricate a sequel to Sprint From Unique York, don’t you contemplate he would have struck while the iron was hot and made it at the height of the first film’s success instead of waiting 15 years? Consider about it. When I mediate this scenario, I can look Flee From L.A and have a capable laugh thinking that John Carpenter may have played a large joke on the Hollywood studios. Really, there’s no plot Carpenter included that surfing scene with the method of it being taken seriously. The film is honest diagram too overblown, scheme too cheesy and obviously a carbon copy of the unique to be anything other than a joke. Kurt may be older now, but he’s actually peaceful able to play Snake Plissken like it’s 1980. The performance is big, it’s impartial the film surrounding Kurt that’s comic. Try watching it again and eye what you assume.

I read some of the other reviews, and I’m frustrated that so many people are finding a pickle with Martin Scorcese’s sensibilities in adapting a Hong Kong -set thriller to an American venue, using his legendary experience to accomplish a very American “recent”. I was immensely entertained, baffled at all the intended times, intrigued at the appropriate times, and thoroughly blown away with the noteworthy ending. Others have blabbed away plot-points, and I’m satisfied I didn’t read those reviews before I saw the film. There’s no doubt that Scorcese is deserving of Oscar recognition, and trying to manufacture comparisons to his other films doesn’t wing with me. This was a brutal indicate of some very mean people, but not as gory as “Goodfellas”, not as character driven as “Raging Bull” and not as gritty as “Taxi Driver”. It WAS, however, a terrific plot-driven chronicle, and Mr. Scorcese should be applauded for taking this very complicated tale, where each character is constantly affecting the others, and making it coherent. Nicholson was, indeed, playing a familiar version of Nicholson, so it was a natural choice in casting but no stretch for the mountainous Jack. The 2-disc DVD is glowing, with expansive interviews with Mr. Scorcese, and other tantalizing stuff, especially about Bulgar, the guy after which Nicholson’s character was based. Very gratified I made the investment. BTW: The sextet from “Lucia di Lammermoor” is by Donizetti, not Puccini. UPDATE: 2-26-07: I’m tickled it won the Oscar.

Based on the Hong Kong thriller, “Infernal Affairs” (2002), Martin Scorsese’s “The Departed” is a shotgun blast to the pandering cinema that has afflicted the American camouflage of unhurried. Scorsese has returned to the urban crime-drama genre that he helped to beget illustrious with “Mean Streets” (1973) and “Goodfellas” (1990) .

Scorsese, a consummate auteur, shares many thematic interests with his screenwriter, William Monahan. A Boston police officer, William Costigan (Leonardo DiCaprio), goes undercover in the local mob with the hope that he may purge himself of his family’s criminal history (redemption and honor being major themes in Scorsese’s films, such as “Gangs of Recent York”) . Costigan’s job is to provide enough evidence to allow the police to apprehend the head mobster, the lurid and merciless Frank Costello (Jack Nicholson) . Costello has infiltrated the police force with a mole of his beget, Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon), who Costello has been grooming since childhood (corruption being another critical theme for Scorsese, view “Goodfellas”) . Each of the moles speedy becomes aware of the other’s presence, and they both realize that if either is going to survive, he must quick fetch his opponent.

Monahan lathers his screenplay with the most uncouth language this side of Quentin Tarantino’s “Pulp Fiction.” Supporting actors Alec Baldwin and Note Wahlberg, who both play upper level officers, grunt deliciously profane dialogue with side-splitting ease and authority. Matt Damon infuses the antagonistic Sullivan with poise, sophistication, and charisma. Leonardo DiCaprio’s protagonist is conversely something of a blunt and unstable instrument. DiCaprio’s work recalls that of James Dean, as he plays a frazzled young man waging war with the world and within himself. Surprisingly, cloak anecdote Jack Nicholson is something of a stale link in the cast. He uses his trademark mixture of charisma and menace in a familiar and admittedly somewhat goofy portrayal of villainy.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Departed! Click Here

The steady star of the film is Scorsese. Taking a cue from an early exchange between Wahlberg’s character and Costigan – “What’s the matter don’t you know any Shakespeare? ” – Scorsese’s presents the film as though it were one of the playwright’s tragedies. Tragic and comedic tones are expertly juxtaposed. Music, be it classic rock or Howard Shore’s gather, is ever point to. The Rolling Stones’ “Gimme Shelter” is ancient to enormous do during the film’s opening. It acts as a harbinger of things to arrive. Violence is explosive and brutal. Michael Ballhaus’ lighting is atmospheric and exaggerated. Designate a scene in Sullivan’s office where a bizarre light achieve casts an X across the wall (Scorsese litters the mise en scène with X’s, both as an homage to Howard Hawks’s “Scarface” and a visual representation of Sullivan and Cositgan’s duality) . Relentless camera movement and Thelma Schoonmaker’s jump cuts further give rise to a sense of nerve-jangling tension.

Under Scorsese’ enjoy admission, “The Departed” is his first attempt at a film with a dwelling. On paper, the film does indeed report one of his more stale, studio-friendly ventures. He is working with a very bankable cast and a three-act record (most of his films have been more concerned with character studies than a archetypal stroyline) . Despite the creative limitations that may be associated with a more commercial project, Scorsese is more than able to elicit his possess passions. “The Departed” is a fierce, raucous entertainment that is not to be missed.

In Gran Torino he both directs and acts, and delivers an acting performance that will be remembered long after the final credits roll, in its new device, as memorable as any other character he has created.

Gran Torino is the second best movie I have seen this year. Not fair for the acting, not objective for the directing, but for the storytelling, and the emotional breeze on which it takes you, the laughter, the feeling of being gripped, and its more surprising moments.

In the opening scenes, we have the exposition of the character. We win to know Walt Kowalski, by how people act around him, and his seemingly hateful attitude towards people. More is conveyed through a scowl, and a voice than with words. When the naughty grandchildren go through his stuff in the basement, we look the Silver Star he won in Korea. There are three other distinguished symbols in the movie, the lighter, the gun, and the car.

We contemplate a hero with a warrior past, a patriot who fought for a cause greater than himself. Clearly, his bigotry stems from those experiences.

He’s not unprejudiced mean, he’s ‘get of my lawn’ mean. He’s Dirty Harry ‘Go ahead punk, compose my day!,’ mean.

His monotonous wife’s priest bugs him to hear his confession, at her put a question to. The priest in a procedure is his wife’s conscience.

When he snarls down the barrel of his rifle, at the neighborhood punk: ‘I could blow your head off, and sleep like a baby,’ you salvage the sense that he means it.

So, with all that happens, we scrutinize the change in his decision making, from someone reluctant to be keen in his neighbor’s affairs, and a memoir can turn on something as random as looking at an empty beer cooler.

For all his faults, Walt has extinct masculine character. Even though he is a difficult father, he has taught his children character. So, when he sees the boy next door lacks character, and a strong male role model, he takes him under his skim, and teaches him how to be a man.

The scenes where the boy practises Walt’s high octane ball busting banter, are the funniest in the movie. Through radiant Walt, he makes decisions he never would have made by himself. In so doing, Walt finds meaning and purpose, and a chance for redemption, and the boy becomes a man.

The Academy’s actor awards tend to go to actors in two types of role:

1.Psychopath- No Country for Passe Men, The Usual Suspects, There Will Be Blood, Training Day, Silence of the Lambs.

2.Mentally Disabled, Social or Physical Handicap, overcomes tremendous adversity or discrimination- Shine, As Sterling as It Gets, A Resplendent Mind, Ray, Scent of a Woman, Capote, Philadelphia, The Pianist, A Heavenly Life.

Every rule has an exception. Russell Crowe in Gladiator played a character with thematic similarities to Walt.

For a 78 year dilapidated man to sigh and be lead actor in a movie of this caliber is an achievement pleasurable at the very least of being nominated for the highest award for Acting, Directing or both.

I hope you rep this review advantageous.

People react strongly to “Gran Torino,” either embracing its depiction of a flawed but brave racist ragged coot, or deriding the movie simply because its apparent political incorrectness makes them nervous. But even if the Academy does not bestow one award on what is probably Clint Eastwood’s last movie as an actor, remember this: “Gran Torino” is a more incandescent film on the area of rush relations today than “Demolish” (a multiple Oscar winner) ever pretended to be.

The epic is about Walt Kowalski, a grizzled Korean War vet and widower who spends his time drinking, smoking, and polishing his 1972 Ford Gran Torino, a vintage example of Detroit muscle. Because he installed the car’s steering column himself, the car represents not only a classically American fixation on the automobile, but also a blue-collar, pull-yourself-up-by-your-bootstraps work ethic, one that Eastwood himself would no doubt agree with. (If for some reason you don’t contain me, read his “What I’ve Learned” interview in the latest order of Esquire.)

Kowalski mentors an aimless Hmong teenager named Thao, who is being pressured to join his cousin’s gang. This is where the “Karate Kid” comparison comes in, which is incorrect, partly because the characters of “Gran Torino” reveal considerably greater depth. The boy who plays Thao (and in fact all of the Hmong characters) is not a professional actor, so although his portrayal is sometimes rather wooden, there really isn’t any substitute for authenticity. Eastwood came of age in an era when Hollywood produced war movies using, say, a Chinese actor to describe a Japanese soldier. It’s determined from the casting of “Gran Torino” (and “Letters from Iwo Jima,” for that matter) that Eastwood prefers to do things his absorb contrivance.

Kowalski makes fun of Thao (calling him “Toad”), but also teaches the boy how to collect an unprejudiced living. In the process, he becomes closer to Thao’s family than he is to any of his enjoy kin, who have degenerated into a distant, crass, materialistic clan of their acquire, far removed from the values Kowalski attempted to pass on.

The staunch stream of racist epithets in “Gran Torino” will cause some people to laugh uncomfortably, others to laugh with delight, and serene another group to glare at those who are laughing. Ultimately, however, this unsettling portrayal of one man’s deep prejudices evolves into a different myth altogether. It is not possible to expose the audience a path away from a racist mentality without showing honestly where that mentality came from–a feat which “Break,” in spite of its heavy-handed moralizing, never came finish to pulling off.

I vividly remember the release of Sleeping Beauty. I was aged enough to go examine it myself – honest barely. There I was sitting procedure up front eating my popcorn and all of a sudden this spectacular dragon materialized true before my eyes. Popcorn forgotten, I was zigzag. Cartoons never looked the same to me, and I spent the rest of my life inhaling fantasy and science fiction on a quest for the same thrill.

Animation has changed quite a bit in the ensuing years, but even today Sleeping Beauty is a towering achievement. Now I’m more sensitive to the tricks of the art and can explore the masterful expend of perspective that made the scenes leap out at you. When I first picked up this DVD I half expected to be disappointed, to come by it really wasn’t so pleasing in retrospect. This is hardly the case – this film is honest as vibrant and alive as it was in 1959.

The added dimension now is that I can peer how Disney’s work was a formative influence on animation even today. Artist/Directors like Miyazaki owe considerable to this film and its predecessor Snow White. And they freely admit it. As a production, Sleeping Beauty created a sense of legitimacy for animation that proved that high quality animation was something well beyond the Saturday morning funnies.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Sleeping Beauty! Click Here

Disney took a enormous risk when creating this film, pouring a enormous amount of resources in making it something as perfect as was possible for his time. While the studio reaped the financial benefits, the audience was the staunch winner, as a whole genre exploded before our eyes. Even now, with anime quick becoming a force to be reckoned with, this film stands out for yarn, art, and music.

The additional features, especially those that retell the making of the film, are proper as well. All captures in magnificent detail on this DVD. This is a must witness for anyone who quiet loves a fairy sage.

This movie is one of the sizable classics of animation, especially for Disney. The DVD version is significantly improved compared to the previous VHS tape. The record and sound were both greatly enhanced for this release. Furthermore, both widescreen and plump shroud versions are available in this package.

As with Disney’s other classics, some liberties were taken with the current narrative of Sleeping Beauty. Disney took the classic sage and made it novel and special. In some ways the epic is less violent and unlit than the novel fairy record. In other ways, such as the portrayal of Maleficent, the movie is dusky and forbidding. While the movie is generally a children’s movie, Maleficent’s dragon and her general demeanor can be somewhat hideous for some in the pre-school and younger area.

Aurora was the first savor for many a young boy, and was also the model for the aspirations of millions of girls. The romantic care for chronicle of Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip enchanted would-be princesses everywhere, and in some cases became the measure by which future spouses were measured (and many of us struggled to meet the ideal) .

Of course, the romantic record and the base of Maleficent were balanced by the comedy of the animal characters and the three bumbling, good-hearted fairy godmothers. While their goodness may appear a bit too vanilla and sweet for some, it is perfect for those longing for the innocence of their youth.

While the movie is the most principal fraction of the DVD, this two CD spot contains a phenomenal number of extras. I found the audio commentary by various key individuals to be absolutely captivating. I planned to listen to portions of the commentary in preparation for my review, and instead found myself listening to the entire thing because it was so incredibly keen. Mary Costa (Princess Aurora) and others provide their perspective on the creation of the movie, as well as personal memories of Walt Disney and his influence on the film. The audio commentary by itself is worth replacing your VHS tape, particularly for aficionados of Disney movies.

In addition to the audio commentary are numerous, emphasize numerous, other bonus features. Some I felt were less than worthwhile, others, such as the shorts “Gargantuan Canyon” and “The Peter Tchaikovsky Memoir,” were agreeable bonuses. The number of bonuses on this two disc residence was so stout that there is a navigational overview included in the DVD that categorizes 38 features found on the second disc.

With the movie and the wealth of bonuses, this movie is a must-buy for those who have yet to have “Sleeping Beauty.” For those who have the VHS, the bonus material is nearly worth the cost of the DVD. Certainly those who are collectors of Disney memorabilia and historians of Disney will accept the DVD to be a concise compendium of some of the best information available regarding this film. I highly recommend this DVD!

How could a movie fanatic go faulty with this one? Sidney Pollack directing, with Francis Ford Coppola helping out with the adaptation of a Tennessee Williams play? A spacious cast, with especially memorable performances from Natalie Wood, Kate Reid and Mary Badham (as younger sister, Willie Starr)? Roberts Redford and Blake and Charles Bronson thrown in for lagniappe? Sounds like spacious gumbo to me.

Natalie Wood is absolutely alluring in this one. She and Redford, who also teamed together in the memorable INSIDE DAISY CLOVER, did indeed appear to have a lot of mask chemistry. He is the cynical company man who appears like the Grim Reaper in a puny, shabby, depression-era southern town, carrying pink slips with him, instead of a scythe. The role has a lot of resonance now, what with all the corporate downsizing currently going on. Needless to say, the townfolk don’t mighty cotton to Mr Owen Legate, with his love suit and self-assured ways.

With a couple vital exceptions. Tom boyish Willie Starr is taken by him factual away and the runt her mountainous sister Alma sets eyes on him, she’s putty. Wood’s expression in that initial observe is section of film history.

Buy,Download, Or Stream This Property Is Condemned! Click Here

Owen further antagonizes the townfolk because they study that Alma has taken a shine to an outsider. Alma’s been something of a tramp up this point, givining it up to varying degrees to most of the men in the town. Several of them, including an broken-down geezer with an invilid wife, have been fantazising about further adventures with Alma. And Alma’s mother is upset with Owen, because she sees that he is going to choose away her gravy whine. Hazel Starr is one of Williams’ spacious eccentric female characters, and perhaps his most unctuous (though Amanda Wingfield, in THE GLASS MENAGERIE, is no prize, either. Kate Reid is perfect in the role. This, to me is her most memorable performance, followed closely by her title role in AND MISS REARDON DRINKS A Microscopic, which unfortunatley appears to be impossible to regain. It’s hard to possess she never won an Oscar or a Tony.

This was only the second feature film that Pollock directed. He of course went on to immense things with such films as THEY SHOOT HORSES DON’T THEY and TOOTSIE. He and Cinematographer James Wong Howe do a expansive job of capturing dinky southern town lethargy, as well as 30’s Novel Orleans ambience. The print, unfortunately, could definitely consume a elephantine restoration. It’s extinct noticeably over time. The film certainly warrants the extra work. Yet time cannot wither Natalie Wood. She’s peaceful one of the most elegant women a camera ever made esteem to. This film definitely belongs reach the top of the list for camouflage adaptations of Williams’ plays.

BEK

When I first saw this film, as a preteen, I view it was the ultimate romance. Well, I got older … and saw it again. And it’s unruffled elegant romantic. In fact, it’s aloof a film I perceive over and over.

Buy,Download, Or Stream This Property Is Condemned! Click Here

The performances are really juicy. Everyone in it seems to understand the over-the-top quality of Tennessee Williams, and no one disappoints. You’ll secure Charles Bronson and a very young Robert Blake in supporting roles here. Both Kate Reid, as Wood’s driving, ambitious `Mama’ using her heavenly daughter to hook the town’s men, and Mary Badham, as `Willie’, the not-so-beautiful younger sister who idolizes Wood, are quite simply reliable. Every go, every recognize from both are truly sublime.

Natalie Wood has always been one of my well-liked stars, and she is every scramble the star in this one. It’s obvious from her first closeup how special, how different, and how engrossing Alva Starr is to everyone she comes in contact with. She meets her match in Robert Redford, the man who has no dreams, who sees her in unvarnished gloomy and white but comes to indulge in her need to color life … in fact, realizes he can’t live without it when he’s separated from her.

Is it immense drama? No. But it’s resplendent soap opera. The best soap opera, the most memorable Southern soap opera, you’re likely to gain. These people have steady problems, actual needs, and they’re beautifully drawn by the screenwriters (thank you, Francis Coppola, among others) and by the actors who play them. We’re given a lot of time to know them and care about them, and we do care, very worthy.

It’s one of my well-liked guilty pleasures, and I query I’ll preserve watching it for years to approach. Don’t miss it.

Here’s the skinny: 7 six little circuits, no weights, no equipment. Fair you and some free status to jump around (you don’t even need that mighty space; trust me, I live in a itsy-bitsy NYC apartment and am completely able to do all the exercises) . Each circuit is made up of a state of exercises performed twice before involving on to the next circuit: fat body engagement, plyometrics and some serious core work mid-way through. But the focus is really on getting your heart rate up and Jillian delivers (my husband walked in after I was done and said he’d never seen my face so red before — so beware! It’s a tough enough workout that you might not witness shapely immediately after; you can place the fine for the beach this summer!)

Now, I should mention I have done JM’s 30 Day Shred and esteem savor appreciate worship it. There’s no better method to gain in a thorough workout in 22 minutes. This is not The Shred. There are many familiar exercises, but it’s a great longer workout and the intensity is modulated to get it possible to support going for the pudgy 45+ minutes of the workout. I was intent on getting through the whole workout, so I can’t explain to what the experience would be like for a beginner. But, the dvd is broken into chapters that split at each circuit, so theoretically, you can progressively beget up as your stamina increases. I imagine I will have days when I’m pressed for time and unbiased want to hit 3-4 of the circuits, and the chapters are designed to allow me to hold the ones I most like (or dislike! depending on how tough they are!)

Also, I score Jillian’s style to be increasingly more outmoded with each fresh dvd. No joke, she’s a tough cookie — that hasn’t changed. But her instruction is more loyal and her explanations of why positive exercises are paired together is really friendly. I procure that gleaming why things are apt for me (even when they’re so hard) is much motivation. Oh, I should mention I have very dreadful asthma and doing these workouts has helped boost my heart strength and capacity to grab more air with each breath. It’s funny, I know, but I effect feeling like Noteworthy Mouse!

I’ll update in the comments piece with any thoughts or problems I encounter as I incorporate this workout into my regular schedule. But in the meantime, I’m a very gratified customer!

I fair tried Jillian’s original workout Banish the Beefy Boost Your Metabolism and I have to say I like it. I am a member on her blog and have been using the Shred 30 Program for a exiguous over two months and I have lost a total of 29 pounds. I was tremulous about hitting a plateau so I was enraged to survey the release of two fresh dvds. The DVD willnot be released until tomorrow, Feb. 3, but it is available today on exhaust TV/Comcast Digitial Cable. It is an hour workout with a phenomenal warm up and chilly down. She does about 6-7 circuits of cardio intense exercises (that can be modified) and you narrate the exercises twice in each circuit. I felt challlenged and really kindly after I got done with it. When I first started I said, “I’m in over my head”, but soon discovered she gives you adequate rest between the sets by alternating a really tough situation with a more moderate state to regain a diminutive bit of recovery. Jillian Michaels is at the top of her game and gives you the results you want to gape. Not only did I lose 29 pounds but I also lost about 17 inches all over. I do follow a regimented diet (as she recommends on her website) but it is priceless to be able to workout for a week and watch the kindof results she gives. I highly recommend this for anyone who is serious about getting in shape and needs pragmatic no nonsense, fair do what needs to be done, outlook on fitness. Jillian Delivers that and more. I will post an amended post to update my progress. Best of Luck to everyone. Steal the DVD its worth it.

I only discovered this movie about four years ago but have watched it every Christmas since. To me it’s the best version of the Christmas Carol ever made, and now it gets the best treatment you could have ever hoped for. This two disc collector’s edition contains two different versions of this movie. First is the colorized version, but then the second is the valid treat. They went succor to the unique prints of this and worked from there. After carefully removing the skips, scratches, and jerky frames, they digitally restored the movie to a version that looks as if it were made yesterday! The sound has been changed to 5.1 digital surround, and there’s even a widescreen version for 16:9 televisions.

The special features include an earlier version of Christmas Carol (not as valid as this one), as well as several featurettes on the movie, interviews with the stars, a feature on Alistair Sim, and others.

You can snort the distributor achieve a lot of inconvenience into this restoration and it shows. I wish they’d do the same for other big films like “It’s a Improbable Life” and “The Bishop’s Wife”.

Highly recommended as the best version of this classic you’ll procure anywhere.

Although this 1951 classic film takes some liberties with the Dicken’s fresh, it remains the film most faithful to the unique fable. Some of the sets and costumes were directly inspired by the memorable illustrations in the first edition of the book. Alastair Sim is very convincing as the miserly Scrooge who, after a homely night of ghostly visits, is transformed into a man who knows how to preserve Christmas in his heart.

There have been many DVD editions of this holiday approved in modern years, several of them from VCI Entertainment. In this package, VCI has included some things featured on previous releases (commentary, Dickens biography, etc.), but the loyal star of this situation is the beautifully restored version of the dim and white film. According to a short feature on the restoration of the film, VCI has finally been able to glean film elements from the fresh master. Apparently they didn’t have access to a complete master, so they venerable several of the best prints they could obtain and digitally read them to decide which frames were the best available. The rest was cleaned up by hand. It sounds like a labor of cherish, and the result is visible on the shroud. The restored print is available in 4×3 and 16×9 in 1:37:1 format. (According to the Amazon product description page, the aspect ratio is given as 1:87 and elsewhere as 1:33, the DVD box says 1:37.) There are a few seconds of less than pristine audio, but overall this is a lovely misfortune.

A nice touch I’ve never seen on a DVD before is an optional audio track for the blind, in which a narrator describes the action on the shroud pausing for dialog from the actors. A wandering commentary track with Marcus Heard and George Cole (young Scrooge) is included. Noteworthy of the commentary is reprised in a feature interview by Heard in which Cole reminisces about Alastair Sim, “Spirit of Christmas Past.” The audio is in English only. Subtitles are in English or Spanish.

The second disc offers the fresh 1935 Seymour Hicks’ film version of the sage. A colorized version of the 1951 film is also included on Disc 2; the brief introduction by Patrick McNee (young Marley) has been seen before on previous releases of the colorized version. There are also theatrical trailers from the UK release (”Scrooge”) and the US release (”A Christmas Carol”) .

VCI has given us a blooming package here. They’ve done a mountainous job with the restoration of a film worship. Many viewers will never have seen such a first-rate print of this holiday common before. The bonus features are a nice inclusion, but the restoration is the proper reason to glean this edition. Highly recommended!

My son was diagnosed with Pervasive Development Disorder – Not Otherwise Specified when he was 3. PDD-NOS is on the Autism spectrum, and children with this diagnosis often have developmental delays.

My son had a speech delay and other developmental delays. His speech is big now…no one can detect that he has this diagnosis. However, the delays have, understandably, affected his learning in some areas.

While his spatial skills have been map above average–as has his prefer of science (such as planets and their attributes) –he has resisted reading. He gets tired and frustrated.

Well, trying many approaches for helping him, I conception I’d remove a chance and rep the Talking Words Factory from Amazon.com, especially since the reviews were so qualified.

I am very, very happy with this DVD! My son watches it quite often, and he’s now reading books on his gain. I can watch a marked inequity in a matter of WEEKS. Before, he had to mediate about how some of the letters sounded. Now, he rattles them off like a pro–as well as 3-letter words!

This DVD also teaches about vowels and consonants, so he’s learning how the vowels are sticky like glue, holding words together (thanks to Professor Quigley’s Sticky-Ick-O-Rama machine!) . The Word Whammer machine shows children how to achieve the consonants and vowels together, and how they sound. I like the fact that they’ll switch around the vowels with the same beginning and ending consonants, to highlight how a vowel sounds within a word.

Talking Words Factory also teaches rhyming, which is a bonus.

Highly recommended!

I have never felt strong enough to actually bewitch the time to write a review. I am a certified k-6 teacher who has told everyone I know about Leap Frog’s 4 astonishing movie and now I am telling you…

LF Letter Factory: This was the first (out of 4) Leap Frog Movie that my children watched. My 3 1/2 year obsolete and 2 years 2 month feeble boys are allowed to scrutinize 1 movie a day. Each Day they agreed, in excitement, to watched this movie. Under a week my 3 1/2 year ancient knew his letter sounds. He could bid the letter sound song almost as speedy as he could stammer the alphabet. After a week, he amazed us when he sat down on the ground and wrote out the entire alphabet like a 4th grader. Had NO notion he could write like this! Shortly thereafter, the 2 year aged knew all his letter sounds and letter recognition.

Talking Words Factory: I was so impressed that I bought them the Talking Words Factory that 2nd week. I wasn’t surprised that my 3 1/2 year primitive began to spell, writing, and sounding out 3 letter words. He told me all about how the vowels were all sticky and their job was to stick letters together to acquire words. He went around singing the vowel song.

My kids loved the videos so distinguished that for 10 months…My son’s (who passe to play with Thomas the Trains and puppies) were obsessed with letters and words. They made their possess letter and word factory machines out of their toys and tubs, drew each letter cartoon character, and sang the letter and vowel songs, and the older one wrote, yes wrote, many of his enjoy homemade books.

Talking Word Factory 2: It doesn’t finish there…They got the Talking Word Factory 2 and Math Circus when they came out this Christmas. In a couple of days, the now 4 year former, was telling me all about sh, ch, th, and other blends. He told me how the tranquil e at the demolish of the word made the other vowel say its name (long vowel sound) . He went on to recount me also how “when 2 vowels go walking the first one does the talking.” And he wrote and read unique complex words such as, boat, home, dime, wait, etc. This really increased his ability to read many, many original words – 8 letter words too!

Math Circus: They loved it too! Though it is snappy piquant for beginners, it is curious and has an easy thought. Adding and subtracting now comes resplendent easy for my 4 year obsolete. I gave him a math work sheet for addition and subtraction unprejudiced for kicks. Wouldn’t you know it, he did all of them with no spot. He was so involved in adding that he started asking about problems such as 3 + 3 + 3. Which helped him learn the opinion of multiplication 3 x 3, 3 x 4, etc. But, we told him that he had plenty of time to learn that later!

The only negative comments that I have to say about these Leap Frog videos: Nothing, Oh, except that I wish my children weren’t so obsessed with letters! They eat, breath, and sleep letters. Sometimes I unbiased wish they would play with the trains, cars, and other toys. They will have their entire school life to learn about letters and reading! I honest hope that when the time comes for school that they won’t have grown board of it!

Other Leap Frog learning tools that reinforce what they learned on the videos:

LF Fridge Phonics Magnets – Like it. It sings each letters song when you build the letter in the hole.

LF Word Whammer Fridge Phonics Station – LF unbiased came out with this. I know that they will adore. I bought it for the next birthday! It is like the Fridge Phonics, but you can spell 3 letter words.

LF Letter Factory Board Game – Adore it too! It is interactive and the board game talks and sings!

LF Verbalize Along Letters Flash Cards & CD – Songs from the DVDs. Not that you don’t hear the songs sang enough from your children!

Wish they would perform computer CD’s too!

LF Leap Pad – Fun but they got board with the same books over & over. $14 a book!

There are many others, but I had to device the line somewhere!

If you check all the other reviews, I am not alone. Only two out of 121 people gave this movie less than 5 stars! It is about time someone made a movie that parents and children both agree on! Thank you Leap Frog!
